My recent trip to Disney World
Well, I just got back from Disney World to celebrate Christmas with my family and it was awesome. I'm happy to report that this time around, cast members actually knew what they were talking about and I saw the same BTM attendant who yelled at guests last time still working the Frontierland coaster, but this time he was smiling and enjoying his job. The big news that I have is about the two new Nemo attractions and the Wonders of Life pavilion. I rode the Nemo ride at "The Seas with Nemo and Friends"(I miss the original pavilion name) and the ride is a vast improvement from the original. I wouldn't say this ride is amazing and I actually got annoyed with it on the third time riding (it was not in a row nor on the same day). However, the ride is a good representation of the film. It offers no educational value unlike most rides at Epcot, but it entertains and the end of the ride where the Nemo cast is projected into the aquarium with real fish is worth the 10-20 minute wait the ride usually gets. Also, for those of you dissapointed that the Little Mermaid attraction on the DVD will never come to be, they used the ocean floor technology in the line where you look up and see ripples and waves and you are even beneath a boat for part of it, so that was neat. At the Animal Kingdom, the Nemo musical is in soft opening and I caught one of three performances that were shown on Saturday. It was pretty cool. The music was horrible, but then again, I don't like the composer who wrote the music for Avenue Q. The puppets were the real draw for me. They were incredible. The actress who played Dory was hysterical (on par with Ellen) and Crush and the whole EAC sequence was very well done. So now on to my Wonders of Life news. IT WAS OPEN!!!!!!!! I know. I was as shoked as you are. I saw two guest walking up the pathway and there was a cast member outside, so I asked her if it was open. She told me it is, but only until the end of 2006, at which time it closes again and the future of the pavilion doesn't look bright. I didn't ride Body Wars because I'm grossed out by the innards of humans anda it is the only ride to date that has ever made me throw up, but I saw Goofy About Sports, which was boring and run down (the TV monitors had screen savers burned into them). We watched The Making of Me with Martin Short which was funnier than I remembered it. However, the operator introduced it and said "Enjoy the show... well, don't enjoy it, but just be good." That was a bit desturbing. We did my favorite thing in the pavilion twice: Cranium Command and Buddy was malfunctioning like he was the last time I saw the show 3 years ago, the last time the Pavilion was open while I was there, and I usually go twice a year. At Epcot, we saw the Candellight Processional for the first time. It was hosted by Brian Denehy (Tommy Boy) and it was pretty cool. Mickey's Verry Merry Christmas Party was so much fun, but it was so cold. Space Mountain was a WALK ON!!!!! The Osbourn Light show at the Disney MGM Studios is a must see if you are there before January 7th. We stayed at the newly remodeled Contemporary. There is a computer installed in every room and a widescreen HD TV! It was very cool. So that's my big trip news. I had an amazing time and I hope I get into the college program because I didn't want to leave. lol.
