Will Disney re-release The Sword in the Stone on DVD?

Post by danfrandes »

Is there any chance that Disney will re-release The Sword in the Stone next year?

It will probably appear in 2008 for it's 45th Anniversary. However, I hope it doesnt' because I just got the Gold Collection, and that would be my first double-dip DVD. Comparing it to the other new releases that we've seen (Dumbo, Robin Hood, Fox and the Hound etc.).

I wish it will come in 2007 and I hope the edition title will be "Magical and Medieval Edition".

Yeah I'm pretty sure it will, if fox in the hound and robbin hood got a "special edition" (even if they werent a 2-disc) Im pretty sure the sword in the stone will get one. I just wish there was some kind of schedule like the platinum editions, it kills me not knowing when are movies such as hercules and the hunchback of notre dame are coming out, Disney has the tendency of just surprising us..
anyways, im quite confident that we will see at least 2-3 special editions being released next year, 2007 (excluding peter pan and jungle book)

Unless there's anything official, we don't know which particular year. But I think it's safe to say that almost "everything" comes back within just a few years. It takes some patience and persistence, and you'll have them all eventually - that's the collecting game!

I would really like to see some sort of new special edition for TSatS come out. I'm sure eventually a new DVD will surface, probably only as a once discer, but newer none the less.

Disney is pissing me off with these half assed 1 disc editions. What was the last non-Platinum 2 disc edition? Pocahontas?

Pocahontas was already released as a 2-disc 10th Anniversary Edition in 2005.

Yes, I believe it was. I anticipate (or maybe am just hoping for) a Hercules 2-disc in the near future!

I've noticed that the Sword in the Stone gold collection DVD is no longer available on the disneyshopping.com website. Do you think this may signal a re-release sometime soon? I haven't been monitoring the Disney DVD world long enough to know if this may indicate something...

It is, however, still available on amazon.com...so perhaps just wishful thinking on my part!

i wish that disney would release all special editions as 2-disk dvds. i refuse to buy any 1 disk special editions because i know that at one time, the movie will be released in a 2-disk SE. so i have missed out on many good special editions(dumbo, fox and the hound, robin hood, etc)

That would make it a "2-disc Full Double Buttcheek Edition."

By 2010 I'd be willing to bet my left hand that all of the "Gold Classics" will have been rereleased. So it should be coming sometime soon.
