Chip 'n Dale question
Chip 'n Dale question
Does anyone know of a complete list of cartoons that Chip 'n Dale have appeared in? I'm looking for appearances not just starring roles. I have not found anything on UD but I may not know where to look.

The book "Encyclopedia of Walt Disney’s Animated Characters" by John Grant would answer that sort of question.
Anyone got it? (I have, but I'm far away from most of my collection for the time being...)
But I also seem to remember that someone has put lists of character appearances on this forum as well.

We're actually working on that right now, and another index as well. Keep an eye open in the months ahead.Ktrek wrote:Thanks Luke! That would be a good list to make an actual webpage of and have a permanent link. However, I'll bookmark it for future reference. Much appreciated!

I noticed that the list really needs to be updated. There are a lot of currently available shorts listed as not available that are. Great list, and good thing to work with when trying to complete a collection of a certain Disney character like Chip 'n' Dale, Pluto, Goofy, or Pete.

I'd been hanging back on Chip N' Dale volumes in the hopes of eventually seeing these on a Treasures volume, but are there enough Chip N' Dale shorts to warrant their own volume? I'm assuming that the majority of their appearances were in Mickey, Donald and Pluto shorts, and by giving them their own volume, a lot of the material would have already been released, making it perhaps unlikely. What does everyone else think?

Well, I'm not an expert so I'll quickly make the change the list. Then I'll go out and buy Extreme Adventure Fun and check off another Disney short from my checklist.dvdjunkie wrote:Bill Freiberger wrote:

Thanks for the info, Luke. I'm a bit disappointed. That pic made me think perhaps there was a Disney Babies cartoon coming soon (or out already) that I wasn't aware of. Wonder why they never made a series of that....
Back on topic, I've been holding out for a Disney Treasures set, but there sure are some Chip n Dale toons I miss seeing, like Two Chips and a Miss. Don't want to bother with the smaller releases though, if I'm going to get them later in a Treasures set. Though a few tempt me. One thing I wish would come to DVD is the episode of the anthology show that includes Chip N Dale singing their little song on Walt's desk... if I remember correctly: "I'm Chip," "I'm Dale," "We're just a couple of crazy rascals out to have some fun. When Chip and Dale start cooking up some trouble you can bet it gets well done..." Might have been an episode entirely devoted to them. I wonder if the episodes of that show that are just compilations of shorts or features will ever get released on DVD? I don't care to get the ones that are just features split into sections, but I really want those that have great hosting segments, like that Chip N Dale one, or the ones with Ludwig Von Drake. Basically, anything with original animation!

By the end of the Treasures series, we should have most of the CnD shorts available there. Those not will most likely be those on Starring Chip n Dale. Which I own because I couldn't wait. Hey, just look at the avatar. I'm just glad I've been able to see every CnD short at least once in my life so far (god bless The Disney Club here in the UK in the 90s).

While i was going to check my book last night for a list, I believe Mayhem was right. If my memory serves me well, 'Two Chips' and 'The Lone Chipmunks', 'Chicken in the Rough' are the only three that do not co-star with Pluto or the Duck. Sooooo. Eventually (as soon as this month for a few) we will have them all via the treasures.

Just curious, wouldn't it behoove Disney to release there cartoon shorts like Looney Tunes, in volumes of 60 or more, and then they could devote a disc to a certain characters or characters. Mickey would always be the first disc, Donald the second, Goofy the third and on the fourth disc they could make it feature one or more of the cartoons featuring the likes of Chip 'n' Dale, Pete, Daisy Duck, Pluto and the rest.
Don't get me wrong I like the WDT's just as much as the next person, but I think that somewhere they missed the boat not putting these out like Warner Bros. did with their Looney Tunes & Merrie Melodies.
