South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut - Some people... er a lot of people would say that its a really dumb movie and I agree. It is however a musical and despite it's vulgar humor it's one of my favorite movies and it's the only musical that I own so therefore it's my favorite musical. "Blame Canada" was nominated for an Emmy I would say for a movie like South Park, that is really good.
Sound of Music - Meh, it's alright, it's a little long.

Well this is two years old, but I'm bringing it out of it's grave!
I absolutely positivly without a doubt obsessivly out of control..ly..
love the theatre!
I've been in musicals/plays since I was in kindergarten, and have been in at least one every year since then!
In kindergarten I was a horse in an Old Macdonald play.
In first grade, I was a speaker/dancer in a variety show.
In second grade, I was Mars in a Planet show.
In third grade, I was the title character in "Tall Tom Jefferson."
In fourth grade, I was Bob Crachit in A Christmas Carol, and a speaker/dancer/singer in a variety show.
When I got into middle school I started doing high school plays. Yes, about five middle schoolers could do them, and I've done them every year.
I've done:
Fiddler on the Roof
High School Musical
Alice in Wonderland
Anything Goes
I hope to continue doing them throughout my middle school and high school career.
Anyway, I've only seen a few productions live:
The Wizard of Oz
Rent
Aida
Hello, Dolly!
Sleeping Beauty
I think that's it..
My favorite movie musicals are:
Rent
The Wizard of Oz
Hairspray
Chicago
Mary Poppins
Annie
Grease
Singin' in the Rain!
There are probably more, but I can't remember them at the moment.
I'll probably be shunned for this..
But I seriously hated Moulin Rogue!
Anyway, this summer I'm auditioning for South Pacific. Can't wait!

Moulin Rouge is awesome! To quote myself from page one:
[Moulin Rouge is] one of the best I've seen in the past 10 years. More musicals should be as spectacular and excessive as this! It was like the 1950s musicals on crack! .

Well, lets see...since my last post in this thread, I did make the cast of Little Women, I played The Knight (a small part, but because I was a freshman last year, and they didn't cast any freshman this year, I feel very lucky).
We did Into the Woods this year, and I got the Narrator (the part I wanted) so that was exciting! And also, I tried out for my first civic theater play in my town last month, Annie, and got the part of Drake!
And some who have conversed with me in the Sweeney Todd thread already know that I did a production off that play with my friends this past halloween, and I played the part of Judge Turpin.
I just love doing musicals as well as other drama, and intend to do so for as long as I can!

I've seen these musicals live:
Beauty and the Beast
The Lion King
The Producers
Le Mis
Wicked (x3)
The Phantom of the Opera
I'm hoping I can see Avenue Q later this year. As for being in a musical I think I'd die of stage fright and be terrible because I've never really trained myself to sing or dance or act etc. If I did have to play a role in one, I'd prefer to be Henry Higgins.

Sadly, I haven't seen any musicals live on Broadway yet in my life, but this summer I'm planning with my friends to see Hairspray live, or maybe The Little Mermaid. Hopefully we'll be able to make it. And I admit to being guilty I have never seen Moulin Rouge, but I plan to one day just to see it.
Here is my list of my favorite movie/tv musicals. I tend to prefer the older classics myself.
My Fair Lady
South Pacific
The Music Man
Rodger and Hammerstein's Cinderella (the original version with Julie Andrews)
Mary Poppins
Bedknobs And Broomsticks
Little Shop Of Horrors
Chicago
The Producers
Hairspray

I'm sorry, but unless you see this movie IMMEDIATELY, then I'm afraid we can no longer be friends.PrincePhillipFan wrote:And I admit to being guilty I have never seen Moulin Rouge, but I plan to one day just to see it.

I just ordered it last night, so hopefully I'll be able to see it by the end of this week. I've never seen it before, but what from others have told me, it sounds more than interesting.

Good. Then for the time being, we may remain friends.PrincePhillipFan wrote:xxhplinkxx wrote:I'm sorry, but unless you see this movie IMMEDIATELY, then I'm afraid we can no longer be friends.I just ordered it last night, so hopefully I'll be able to see it by the end of this week.
