We still don't have any snow over here. The last few years, it hasn't really started snowing until about the 21st of December (one year, in 2001 or 2002, it didn't snow until the 27th or later). And that really, really sucks because when I was a kid, it would snow in November! I remember not actually hating Thanksgiving when I was younger - all because it would snow.

Now that I'm older, yes Winter Weather sucks because ice-slicked roads, having to gravel / sand your icy driveway if it's uphill, and the potential threat of freezing pipes (not to mention, possibility of the water heater light/flame going out) are very bad things. But I still love the snow! And at least, with the weather a little less snowy and blizzardy since the 1990's, it's easier on driving - even though I've noticed there has been an increase in the instance of pipes having frozen at my place in the winters of 2005 and 2004 - I expect this year won't be that different.

Over here in Germany (at least in the north, where I live) we don't have snow yet either, but I'm kinda okay with that.
I mean, I like snow but I hate icy roads and frozen cars... so I guess it would be fine if it just snowed on christmas. ;)

Well, it looks like 7-10 inches fell in the Tulsa, and surrounding areas. More fell north of Tulsa, where they had a blizzard warning, with snow totals of 12-18 inches, if not more! The official snowfall total, at Tulsa International Airport, is 10.4 inches. This breaks the old record for snow in November, by nearly 5 inches (which was accumulated over two days). Several highways and turnpikes are closed, and travel is nearly impossible! One wrecker company is reporting that they have so many calls, that they are telling customers it will be nearly 14 hours before they can respond to a call!

I will say it is beautiful outside! I agree with Luke about dirty snow. I hate dirty snow. I like the idea of cars having to pass a cleanliness test! I say that Luke prepares the standards that cars have to pass, and then we'll work on getting it to the government!

It started snowing yesterday morning and didn't let up until late last night. I looked outside this morning, and it is a winter wonderland on our street. Now I have to get out the snow shovel, my son-in-law is coming by to cut a path from the front porch to our driveway.

Being a life-long Californian, I am still getting used to this part of the year. I have been in Wichta for six years, and the sight of snow falling is just beautiful. I just wish that the people who have lived here all their lives would learn how to drive in the stuff. There have been so many accidents because people are 'overdriving' in this weather, or don't have their headlights on so they can be seen. Why don't people drive with their headlights on when it is snowing? Are they really that dumb, or don't they care that they can't be seen?

Sorry for the rant, but I love snow. It is so pretty.

It is so pretty outside! We got about 12" of snow. I stayed home from work so I can enjoy it from my windows. We have a dog that's part German Shepard and part Bassett Hound so he's really short and long. All you see in our back yard are tunnels where he's walked. He loves playing in the snow.

Luke wrote:Snow lover here. What lights up a night that otherwise gets too dark too soon? What is the perfect excuse for staying sheltered inside and enjoying a movie or other activity instead of doing less enjoyable things? What is necessary for Christmas to feel like a complete success?

Snow! Snow! Snow!

While I can understand not liking it -- especially those with big driveways and jobs that require substantial drives in the face of inclement weather -- I myself absolutely love it. The only part I don't like? Dirty snow. I think us snow aficionados should band together and require all cars to pass cleanliness tests in order to drive on snowy roads. That would keep the snow nice and lovely for much longer.

Melting snow makes me sad.
I agree. Especially on the melting snow thing. If it's very close to Christmas, and the snow is starting to melt, it is depressing because it may not snow again. Also, when you know it's going to be the last snow of the season (like around March), that's sad too.

I love snow too. But at the moment we're having the warmest fall since 1706. Last week it was 17° Celsius (That's according to Wikipedia 62° Fahrenheit). So no snow here in the Netherlands...

Snow... it's very nice. But it is driving me to the point of distraction. There's a lot of things I need to do at Student Council (especially with our major Valentines Day flower sale going on), and I can't do that with school out. And judging by the forecast, I'll be out Tuesday again (Monday's a given, Presidents' Day)...

Snow should fall on my schedule. Like every day I have gym...

Snow. My dog loves it, I love it when it's snowing, and not when it's ice.

Snow is nice for about the first week, after 5 months of it you're happy to never see it again.
