I don't think Scrooged can be classed as an adaptation (although technically it is, but it's been adapted too much). Its a cracking film though, and more than arty nonsense like Baz Luhrmann's "Romeo + Juliet" is the prefect example of updating a work of classic literature for a modern audience and making it relevant. (As is "West Side Story")

Patrick Stewart does a stunning one-man show of A Christmas Carol, which you can buy on CD here. (That's right Stewart plays all the parts).

I still think Pete's the best Ghost of "Christmas Yet to Come"!

I remeber an old LP Record of Mickey's Christmas Carol that came out when I was like 2, it was about 5 or 6 years before the animated version. It was full of songs, and the ghosts were three different people. The Ghost of Christmas yet to come was actually te Witch from Snow White.

Scrooged is Great though. I love that movie. And the Muppets. So many versions that are good adaptions of the story.

A couple years ago Patrick Stewart did a version for TNT or USA network or someone. it is by far the most accurate representation and Stewart is amazing! I have it on DVD and is my favorite Christmas movie of all. It beat out Mickey's CC 3 years ago when I got it. Most of the lines are right from the novel (most have never read it) and there are occurances in there that most renditions completely leave out. WONDERFUL! I may watch it again tonight :D

Yep. Stewart was the executive producer and if I remember correctly hand picked the writer of the screenplay. His knowledge of the story from his one may show certainly shows through.

Again, like "Treasure Island", I had to read "A Christmas Carol" at school. I didn't like most of it due to the writing, but certain passages stood out and stayed in my mind. Recently (in the last five or six years) I reread the novel and I loved it!

my favorite story of all time. it shows something that i think everyone can want....redemption.

it takes a look back at past hauntings, present situations and the future of our actions. i think just about everyone can identify with it, somehow.

there have been a few good versions over the years

Scrooged, Mickey's Christmas Carol {i really wanted to see it on dvd with the treasues}, muppet christmas carol and stewarts tnt version.
