Just Curious -- What Other Boards Do You Frequent??

Post by indianajdp »

I know a few of us here visit the same DVD board, and I was curious as to where others sometimes post?

For me there are really only two others aside from this site:

DVDTalk

Peegs-IU Hoops

Maybe some of you folks can turn me on to some great boards I have yet to discover :D

Well, lets see.. I got to the IGNboards, but not as much anymore... and the gamewinners boards, but very sparingly now, since the servers get overloaded quickly and there are a ton of popups... even though I am a moderator there! :P

But yeah.. thats about it

I sometimes visit the forum at Animated-movies.com, DVDToons and DVDtalk.com. Unfortunately, I haven't seen many messages about animated movies at DVDtalk.com and DVDToons.com.

Most of the other Lion King forums are really quiet. :(

Not too many, but you'll find the not-so-wise words of Loomis at various comic boards (www.comicboards.com), primarily the Green Arrow one.

Ditto for DC comics...

Other than that, none really....

...the hell? There's lots of animated film discussion at ToonTITAN (the new DVDtoons forum)! There's a good deal of talk about tv series, cartoon shorts, and superhero stuff, but there's plenty on movies, too! Now I'm confuzzled... :?

Anyway, I seem to be a girl-about-town compared with the replies so far. I'm fairly active at these forums:

~ToonTITAN Forums, another "animation on DVD" board, yet more generalized to include all types and "brands" of animation.
~The Last Unicorn's IMDb forum is the only major place, that I know of, to discuss the upcoming live action film.
~Run with the Wind, a Spirit fan forum (Dunno why I still go there - the movie sucked, and the forum's overrun by hyperactive 13-year-old girls that treat the place like a chatroom. I suppose I just try to inject some "adultness" here and there, when I can. ;) )

And I mostly lurk at these places:

~The Animated Lust Forums (Rated PG!) have lots of different boards to choose from - just a really misleading name.
~Animation Nation, for my daily dose of disgruntled animator rants. ;)
~The Animated Movies Forum is kinda the "feedback" area of the excellent animation news site Animated Movies. Nothing really substantial has popped up there for a while, though.
~NeoNews!, another "feedback" forum that reacts to the new stuff that's put out on NeoPets.

I gave up on Lion King boards (my first forum experiences) a long time ago - they've dropped like flies. None of 'em could stick after the big lionking.org one was shut down a few years ago. Now LK fandom has kinda worn out - the only one I can think of that's still kickin' is lilymud.com, which is mostly a fanart forum, anyway. :p

Now it's mostly about animation and dvds in general for me. At least Lion King has helped in that regard, I think. ;)

I recognize a few of you from other forums. I post at ToonTitans, BCDB, AnimatedBliss (not as often), and various production and music related boards.

This is the only Disney forum I go to and post at. Of course, I watch Big Brother and other reality TV so I post on a couple of reality TV forums.

Retroland celebrates virtually everything from the Sixties to the Nineties.

I manage two online fan communities; devoted to a certain favourite character from Disney's TaleSpin: Kit Cloudkicker Fan Club and Cloudkicker's.

That's about all...for now!

Animated News, along with here and a few MySpace and Facebook groups, is the only board I currently visit and post in a lot. I sometimes post on No Homer's Club and IMDb, but all the needless bickering on them turns me off. :(

I usually don't stay on boards long because I get annoyed by the "mean/intolerant people." That leads to arguments that never end, and so I usually just move on. I also don't like boards where I feel the cesorship from the moderators is taken too far. This is why I bitterly left LaughingPlace.com. They censor left and right over there, for the silliest reasons sometimes. I have managed to stick around on two boards. This one, not that I've been here for a long time, but it's long for me, ha, and the werewolfcafe.com forum. At WerewolfCafe.com though, I am a site contributor and I pretty much stay in "slave2moonlight's forum," so I'm treated with some seniority respect there. Of course, that could be because, again, I stay in my own little forum, ha. While I also frequent the sites Deviantart.com and Myspace.com, I have briefly looked into their forums and found them to be unpleasant. I also don't use instant messaging or chatrooms and haven't since college. I just don't have time, and there's so much phoniness in there. I stick with e-mail and My Space messages, and blogging on My Space and DeviantArt.com.

This is the only board that I visit frequently. I used to be a part of GameFAQS until I gave up on it entirely.

I check regularly and sometimes post on www.hometheaterforum.com although less frequently now than I used to. It's a well moderated and very knowledgable "environment".

I post occasionally on Roobarbs on www.zetaminor.com and I visit but tend not to post on the Outpost Gallifrey Doctor Who forum.

Ye Gods, Outpost Gallifrey is scary. Once again it shows how fans can be their own worst enemy, and sadly a small percentage of posters who post snipes and other insults ruin it for the majority. I'm sure if "Doctor Who" was a real person, and not a TV programme about 10% of Outpost Gallifrey posters will have been issued with restraining orders.

Still, its not as bad as Ian Levine's Doctor Who forum!
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database
