Frank and Ollie Easter Egg and more

Post by disneyfella »

i thought i'd mention that i've found an easter egg on the frank and ollie dvd. go to the "Firehouse Five plus Two" icon on the bonus features and press enter. Next highlight any of the options on that screen and press right. a mickey head will highlight and you get a video clip of frank thomas raking leaves talking about more stuff.

the next thing i wanted to talk about, was that i just purchased the dvd of the straight story and extremely enjoyed it. i already owned the film on VHS, but the sound quality was really bad, and i always felt like it would be cool to see in widescreen. BOY WAS I EVER RIGHT. this is a beautiful and well made movie, and the dvd is pristine including the 5.1 sound which i felt was light years ahead of the cruddy VHS version. would've enjoyed a commentary, but at least i got the awesome theatrical trailer.

the last thing i wanted to discuss, was what everyone wanted for christmas. no i'm not going to purchase anything for you guys for christmas, but it's fun to make a list isn't it? i know we've made a couple of lists for specific lines of dvds (i.e. treasures, vault, etc.), but i thought it'd be fun to make your christmas wishlist with any category possible (including non disney dvds like the loony tunes gold collection, and other stuff like a new coat, etc.) if luke wants to post this in another forum thats cool, i just didn't want to start five new threads when one would do just fine for me. so, imagine you are ralph in "a christmas story" and tell santa what you want for christmas.....

I'll go first:

1) back to the future trilogy dvd set (widescreen)
2) indiana jones dvd set (widescreen)
3) candlshoe widescreen dvd
4) north avenue irregulars widescreen dvd

p.s. does anyone know anything about the new godfather special edition dvds coming out next year? i was going to add that to my wishlist, but i recall hearing that they were releasing a special edition of this next year. once agian, i know this is NOT a disney dvd, but i couldn't help but ask. thanks everyone.

Glad you got The Straight Story on DVD. The widescreen cinematography is very easy to appreciate, as is the movie and both audio and video quality were commendable.

We already kind of have a few Christmas wishlist threads in Off-Topic, but I don't really have anything to add anyway. There are DVDs I'd like to get at some point, but other than the Alien Quadrilogy, I guess there aren't really any big things that I'd love to have someone surprise with me at Christmas. Oh I already know I'm getting ER: The First Season. So that's cool.

David Lynch is an amazing (as well as unique) director. There's no one like him!

I loved the "Frank & Ollie" DVD. I wish most of the animated classics could get a treatment like this. I think the DVD only turned out to be what it is because Theodore (Frank's son and director of the film) was in charge of production. The menus were very well done as well.
