Things that you didn't get in a Disney Movie

Post by Jens »

Well the title is obvious... A moment that you didn't get in a Disney movie. I have one from The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride:

When Simba is done singing the song "We are One" to Kiara he looks at Pride Rock and then to Kiara, confused. Why does he do that?

Do you have a moment that you didn't get?

In the first Lion King, I didn't get what Timon meant when he said "not in front of the kids" in Hakuna Matata.

As a kid, I never got anything that came out of Donald Duck's mouth. In some of his cartoons, I still can't.

I think it was a joke - Pumbaa was singing "and I got downhearted, every time that I -" and he was about to say 'farted', and Timon stopped him, saying "Pumbaa! Not in front of the kids!" indicating that he knew he was in a movie . . . either that or he said "not in front of the kid" meaning Simba, but I think it was the first one.

The "fade to grey" sequence of the Mad Tea Part scene in "Alice in Wonderland."

Anyone know what's that supposed to mean?

I always thought that was a slip-up or something...

Aren't you supposed to be gone until February (at the earliest) or possibly forever?

I totally forgot about that, and yeah I've always wondered about that. When I was a kid, I had Alice taped off of the TV, so I assumed that the gray thing was just a problem with the tape. But I saw it again later and realized its part of the film.

It had to have been done on purpose - otherwise, they surely would've corrected that by now.

I write a little here, when I have time, I normally don't that's why I'm not wrting too much, besides I don't go to the hospital on Sundays. I just raise money on Sundays for the hospital, and I can just stay sitting on a table, outside of the church with my laptop, nobody minds...

When I first saw it, I thought there was something wrong with my tape. :)
It's just an effect. There is a similar one in The Sorcerer's Apprentice in Fantasia.

That´s correct - it´s for dramatic effect they had done some little part in both Alice and Fantasia in BW.
It should symbolize the "knockout" in the Tea Party scene and Mickeys exhaustion after hacking up the brooms in Fantasia - and of course that the life was gone from the inanimate object, which suddenly come back to life (with the coming and fading of colors a few times!).
Still I didn´t get that feeling of drama as they said they wanted with this method. I only get annoyed when I come to these parts in those movies

I think it works in Fantasia. It's adds a false "finality" to the act. As for Alice, can't say I've noticed it. But as you all know, I'm not Alice's biggest fan. :P
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

the "fade to gray" in alice is so random and short in duration that it doesn't have any dramatic effect as far as i'm concerned. i always thought it was some sort of weird screw-up in the film..

When I saw Hercules in the theater I was the only one who laughed (VERY loudly! ) at the part where Pain and Panic pose as the cute little kids.

They get in trouble and one of them yells out "Dial IX I I"

Hmm, I don't get that one neither. Could anyone explain us what the scene means? :?

A red letter date is one that is very important - thus marked in red on a calendar. I think she meant "every moment exciting" . . . but red letter sounds better, though they both fit in the meter. :P

From the first time I saw Bambi as a child, I could not understand why, when Bambi encountered a family of opossums, they instantly switched places at the changing of the scene. I suppose this might have been nitpicky, but it really bothered me at the time (and continues to). How could such a huge error slip through? Or am I missing something?
