Beatrix Potter Biopic

Post by chaychay102royal »

I read online just a few minutes ago that Renee Zellweger is set to play Beatrix Potter in a new biopic. I am personally very happy about this. Here is the link:

I love biopics, and I think a biopic about Beatrix Potter is a splendid idea. What do you guys think?

That definitely sounds like something I'll be interested in, although I can't say I see Renee Zellweger in the role. However, Ewan McGregor gets my full approval.

This kinda gets my interest, though it doesn't seem as I would personally like it to be from the looks of it. I personally agree with Renata in saying that Renee Zellweger seems the wrong actress for the role (I would say Kate Winslet would be better, and she does look more like the real Beatrix Potter). And shocking as this sounds, I would like a Beatrix Potter biopic to be part animated. I would really like the idea of inserting cartoon segments based on the tales (each around five to ten minutes long) into the film.

Intresting, I'd never picture Renee as the part of Beatrix though.

I have had a bad aftertaste in my mouth about Renee Zellweger every since she won underservedly won the Best Supporting Actress out of sympathy. Shoreh Aghdashloo should have won. If not, then Hully Hunter. If not, then Patricia Clarkson. If not, then Marcia Gay Harden. You guys get the picture.

As a person who adored Beatrix Potter as a child, and had every one of her books, also I even today have all of the animated versions on DVD. I can say a Beatrix Potter biopic is good news! However Renee Zellweger? :(

She'll never be as good as Niamh Cusack! :(

Well, it seems like it will be part animated. Which gets a  from me.

excuse me, but who is Beatrix Potter?

Because I only know one Potter, and I really doubt that name would be joined in a sentence without a "hates to Sirius`s `dear` sister" between them

She is a famous children's author who wrote many books during the early 1900s with such characters as Peter Rabbit, Benjamin Bunny, Jemima Puddle-Duck, Tom Kitten and loads more.

Just search her name in Google or Amazon, there are loads of examples.

In fact 15 of her stories have been made in animation and are available on DVD.

Trailer > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMDMD7q101I

Looks a little silly, but at least it has traditional animation, which remains quite faithful to the book illustrations.

Really looking forward to this, I loved the series, so this should be great. Except for Renee Zellweger. Wondy, you're right when you say that Kate Winslet should be playing her. Other than that, it should be good.

It sounds like it could be a winner but I'll need to get more info to make sure it will interest me.

I just watched the trailer. it looks like a rental at best. The idea kind of reminded me of Finding Neverland.

Kate Winslet would be the better choice I guess. She's more...uhm, girl like and kind of looks fragile.
I loved all the Beatrix Potter stories when I was a kid, so I think I'm gonna go see that movie when it comes out.

That's exactly what it reminded me of. The idea isn't too new, and it doesn't really seem that interesting, apart from the animation in it, but I'll still probably go to it.

I can't tell how good the movie will end up being, but I do want to see it. It also merits saying that I am fully impressed by Ewan's 'stache. :thumb:
