Once Upon a Mouse
Does anyone remember this show? I have a slight remembrance, but I don't know everything. I think it's a cavalcade of Disney animation clips. I think it was released to coincide with the release of Fox and the Hound. Does anyone else know anything?

I made a topic about "once upon a mouse" a couple months ago. So at least I know one other person is aware of it
I've been trying to figure out if a specific clip that has been used in many disney promos was originally from this, because it sounds like it was. So hopefully someone can tell us if they remember it. I've never seen the whole show, but from what I understand it was several shorts plus a featurette of sorts. I first read about it in "Disney A-Z".
Basically the clip was used in some of the intros on the "cartoon classics gold edition" vhs tapes, and has been shown in many other trailers etc. Its from the 80s, and has a collage like group of different images of disney characters, some are just stills, others are animated. It starts off as a sky background, I think Mickey and snow white are among the first pictured. The images stand out a bit, reminiscent of 3-D, and the entire thing just keeps scrolling. Unfortunatley, I don't have a screen cap, but maybe it'll sound familiar.

That clip you mentioned can viewable at (surprise, surprise) YouTube. Just click right here and just wait until the show is almost over and the clip will play.

Speaking of remembering old clips and wondering about their sources, I have too that I would love to know the sources for.
First, there's the old clip of Mickey Mouse dancing (or something) next to the original incarnation of Mickey Mouse. Current Mickey asks, "Hey, are you the one and only, original Mickey Mouse?" or something like that. The only replies he gets are squeaks. Anyways, this might have originally been from "Mouse Factory," but I have no idea really. Anyone have more info on that clip? I was rather disappointed that it wasn't on any of the Mickey Mouse Treasures sets.
The other clip I always remember was a stop-motion animation clip, I think. But maybe I am confusing it with another one. It might have just been sped up (to make it funny). It was about a guy who is obsessed with Mickey Mouse, and they show how his whole house (or his bedroom and bathroom at least) is Mickey Mouse themed. If I remember correctly, it basically shows him getting up in the morning and going through the morning routine, but with Mickey Mouse alarm clock, toothbrush, and all that stuff. Just tons and tons of Mickey everywhere. And, in the end, he drives off in a car (probably was a VW) made to look like Mickey Mouse. I know there is a stop-motion bit about a room full of Mickey collectibles coming alive, and I think that one was on one of the Mickey Treasure sets, but this one was not. I may have confused the two in the past though, because now that I think about it, this one may not have employed any stop-motion, but I think it at least used fast-motion. Anyone seen this and know what it was originally made for. I haven't seen it in forever, but I know I used to see it on TV as a kid, probably somewhere on the Disney Channel.

Well, the modern Mickey dancing in that scene is seen on Mouse Factory, but the full-blown clip actually comes from a 1968 episode of the anthology series called The Mickey Mouse Anniversary Show, which aired on TV to celebrate Mickey's 40th anniversary.slave2moonlight wrote:Ha, whoa, that first clip I mentioned was at the opening of the clip posted. Okay. Well, at least you can see what I was talking about. Anyone know what that was originally made for and if it's on any DVD releases in the U.S.? I feel like I used to see it on Mouse Factory, at the end or something.
Oh, yeah, happy birthday, Mickey!

it was also used in the background of one of the clips from "mickey's 60th birthday"slave2moonlight wrote:Speaking of remembering old clips and wondering about their sources, I have too that I would love to know the sources for.

Yea, there is a stop-motion featurette on the Treasures set that follows a mickey obsessed disney collector, I believe it was first made in the mid-70s. But, it doesn't have anyone driving off in a car at then end. The only other one I could think of at first was another segment (also from Mickey's 60th Birthday special) that is about a kid who's room is full of kiceky stuff, but once again obvioudsly since it was about a kid there wouldn't be a car. I do remember searching ebay for "once upon a mouse" one time, the only result I found was a PAL tape from England, but now that I think about it, I'm almost certain that it mentioned a clip described similar to the one you're looking for. "Once Upon A Mouse" was a short featurette released with Fox & The Hound in it's original theatrical release. It runs about 25 minutes and is just short clips from films, television, and theme parks. It's fun.
I have it on VHS, taped off the Disney Channel years ago but I also remember seeing it in theatres way back in the day.
There are two other featurettes called "Four Tales on A Mouse" and "Milestones for Mickey" that are kind of similar, but they show whole cartoon shorts.
