This is about 2 weeks of discs again. My mad-dash pre-Xmas buying binge is ending soon:

Image
The League of Gentlemen: Box of Delights 3 Discs R2 PAL
The subtitle is a play on a much beloved traditional Christmas story. This is a 3 disc set which contains The League of Gentlemen Live at Dury Lane: Special Edition, the feature film The League of Gentlemen's Apocalypse and the all-new live show based on pantomime The League of Gentlemen Are Behind You. I've long supported The League of Gentlemen believing them to be the funniest and freshest thing to happen to British comedy since Vic and Bob.

Wikipedia: The League of Gentlemen, The League Of Gentlemen's Apocalypse, The British Pantomime

Image
The Michael Palin Collection 16 Discs R2 PAL
Well, I actually bought two of these. But one set is for my father for Christmas. Don't worry, he doesn't read Ultimate Disney so won't find out. The set includes all of Michael Palin's travel documentaries – Around the World in 80 Days, Pole to Pole, Full Circle, Sahara, Himalaya, Hemmingway Adventure and his two episodes from Great Railway Journeys

Wikipedia: Micheal Palin

Image
King Kong: Deluxe Edition 3 Discs R2 PAL
Now, while I thought the film was too long, I don't actually mind more being added, as long as its added in the right place. I actually found the hour or so leading up to the arrival on Skull Island as enjoyable… in many respects more enjoyable than the rest of the film. Hopefully the extra footage will be character based, not dinosaur and Kong based.

Image
Seinfeld Season 7 4 Discs R2 PAL
Not much to say. The contents are the same as the US R1 discs. Another well put together set for a groundbreaking TV series.

Police Squad: In Color The Complete Series 1 Disc R1 NTSC
When the Naked Gun trilogy boxset came out, I actually gave my Police Squad VHS tapes to a charity shop, convinced this would soon be released. A good 3 or 4 years later here it is. Oh well, you can't win them all. Surprisingly for a Paramount release, they do seem to have put the effort into the supplements, making the release well worth waiting for.

Looney Tunes Golden Collection Vol 4 4 Discs R1 NTSC
Well, Amazon have actually sent me the volumes 1-4 pack, but only charged and invoiced me for Vol 4. This will make up for kafuffle of them sending me a "headless" Simpsons earlier this year. Although I already have the previous volumes.

Finally:
One Foot in the Grave: The Christmas Specials 1 Disc R2 PAL
You may remember me complaining about these being available in the boxset, but not individually a few weeks ago. Well, since then they popped up for sale and I got them. But the fact that they were only listed on retailers' sites one of two weeks before their release makes me think this release wasn't planned, and only came about because of customer complaints. Play doesn't even have a cover shot on their site!

Wikipedia: One Foot in the Grave
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

Yesterday I was at my local rental store and I bought some DVDs at 3 for 15$! I always love to do that, since I'm often kind of broke and don't really care about the DVD state. I bought two Christmas gifts and one for me!

A Good Woman
This is a gift for my brother - I have no idea if it's any good, but my brother is mad about Scarlett Johansson and would like to have all her movies on DVD, and I aim to please ;) But it's based on a play by Oscar Wilde, and the other movie I saw based on Oscar Wilde (The Importance of Being Earnest) was good, so I'm hopeful.

Image
Good Night, and Good Luck
This is a gift for my best friend, she loved the movie so much and said it was the best of 2005. I am not sure why, honestly, I tried to watch it and fell asleep on it  But once again it's not my taste that counts ;)

Where the Truth Lies
This is the one for me! I never saw it but I am a big fan of Colin Firth and plan to, eventually, see all of his movies ;)

I received, in the mail from Reyquila, Once Upon A Halloween. It's region 4, so I won't be able to watch it, unless I get a region free DVD player, but, I like the packaging. It's housed in a green cover, and I am proudly adding it to my Disney collection. Thanks, Reyquila!

I went to Best Buy, and picked up Over The Hedge. It was marked at $19.99, but, I used the Circuit City price match of $12.99. Plus, I get Double Points on my Reward Zone card! While I was there, I also picked up some promotional stuff for the Nintendo Wii. They have a Launch Guide, as well as a free DVD, which explains the system, the different things you can do, and has trailers for quite a few games. It's really great, since it's free. It will have to tide me over until I get my Wii!

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest 2-Disc Special Edition
I'm in the middle of watching it right now!
Jack Sparrow (Depp) endeavors to settle a blood debt to Davey Jones, the infamous captain of the ghostly ship, the Flying Dutchman. Faced with a potential afterlife of servitude and damnation, Jack also has the upcoming wedding of Will Turner (Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Knightley) to consider ...

Australia and the UK got it earlier than the US. Australia's actually came out a week ago, but I still haven't bought it. They say the Collector's Dead man's Chest Gift Set is for a Limited Time only...but they have thousands. So I think I'll be safe.
