trade forum?

Post by wizzer »

so how about a traders forum? i am a frequent trader on a horror forum and have aquired alot of my hard to find titles that way. also i see oop dvds all the time that i don't pick up because i already have them but if there was a trade forum i could have picked up the extra peter pan special ed. and the extra beauty and the beast and put them up for trade for other movies i'm trying to get ahold of. you know an authentic discs only and trade at your own risk sort of thing with a list of good traders and so on. sorry if this has been brought up before already. you could use it to post good deals on dvds also.

I'd be for it. there are always titles I see around that I don't pick up cause I own them too. But there are always many I am missing and would like to find.

I'd be in favor of one, too. But I can understand that because we aren't a very large group right now that this is probably not a priority.

Seems pretty reasonable to me, as long as we don't get people registering left and right simply to eschew eBay fees and merely to trade. The thing I worry about, though, is overseeing deadbeats. I really feel like now is not a very good time for me to be picking up additional responsibilites on the site - as I'm already mostly swamped with what I have.

That said, I'll definitely think about it and I'll try to see if it could work.

Yeah I could see people trying to get away from buying on ebay and just sign up for this.

Until the time is right we could always PM eachother and privately trade amoung ourselves.

i've traded twice with 2 different people on this forum and it's been initiated through something that was posted and then a pm. that has worked fine for me. with the reasons luke stated above i could understand any apprehensions about a forum simply for trading.

I would say Yes. I think Luke just is saying it's not the best to start a trading section right off the bat. But I think we all can with eachother.

Is that about right Luke?

I guess that's okay. Just don't expect me to get involved at this time.

Thanks.

I've traded with a few people on the forum as well and I think it can be a good idea as long as its done within a farmiliar group of trusting members.

I've just posted some dvd's which I am looking to sell in the Off-Topic forums, just to see if anyone on the board would be interested, but i do think a regular forum for disney or even non-disney but say media-related (dvd/video, etc) items would be a great addition to the forums. I understand the concern with being liable for irresponsible traders though... i guess you could put up a heading or something stating that it would be a totally independant medium/service for users to connect with one another to offer trades, etc.
