Guess what I found at F.Y.E.?!
OK, so tonight after dinner, we went to FYE (a CD/DVD store), and I was browsing their used Disney DVDs (the section is really for kids' movies but it's 90% Disney!), and I came across the Limited Issue of Lady and the Tramp! It was $19.99, and I thought it was good for a used OOP DVD, so I got it, and I found out the total was only $14.99 (the sticker price was a misprint!)! Then, we found out that they had a promotion going on, like a buy-$25-worth-of-used-products-get-$5-off deal, and my little brother got a game for $14.99, so it was well over $25, so they took $2.50 off each item, and the DVD only came to $12.49! I was really happy but my parents were all like "That's the biggest waste of money ever, geez!" (I have the PE) but I was like "whatever." I know this may sound dumb but, hey, I was happy! Now my goal is to collect all 9 LIs (I get them for collection pruposes, after all, theyare the first DVDs Disney ever released). Stop by your local F.Y.E., and browse for any used LIs, you may find some treasures! Happy hunting!

That's cool that you found a new copy of Snow White there! I'm not very familiar with that kinda technical stuff, but the back of the box says:Jungleprince_55 wrote:FYE is cool. Thats where I found my Brand New copy of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs a couple of years ago, A while ago they also had a used copy of Snow White there too and a Mulan Limited Issue. BTW, Which Aspect Ratio version of LATT is on the LI DVD?
Widescreen (2.35:1) (In small print at the bottom, it says that it is its OAR (Original Aspect Ratio))
So, I hope that helps!

Gotta agree with your parents on this one. The Limited Issue is inferior in every way to the Platinum Edition and DVDs are for watching. But I can sort of relate to wanting to collect something that's hard to find.
FYI, they're not the first Disney DVDs ever released. Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey (12/2/97), Air Bud (2/3/98), Mary Poppins (3/20/98), 101 Dalmatians (1996) (4/21/98), Tron (5/19/98), and Flubber (6/16/98) all came well before them, among others. As for as entirely-animated goes, Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas was released on October 13, 1998 and A Bug's Life on 4/20/99. Now, I know you probably just meant to say the first animated classics on Disney DVD, which is true. At least it is until Disney reworks the canon list to include The Nightmare Before Christmas!

I know that the OOP Disney DVDs are not listed on FYE's website, you just have to check in your local store to find it used (sometimes FYEs are also known as Strawberries).sljones354 wrote:YEAH!!!!! I was just looking on-line at the fye website and i can't find any of the movies i was looking for

hah thats funny because not too long ago I was at FYE and like, they had the older realease of Tarzan(the white boxed one, not collectors) and I was like...to my friend.."why are they trying to sell this for $29.99 when you could just buy the new special edition for $19.99? I guess cause it was OOP it made it more valuable? but yeah thats cool they sell OOP DVD's.

Well, there is always someone who will buy the Limited Edition because they don't realize it is an old inferior version. But anyone who is paying attention to what is out there will most certainly not purchase this DVD. It just doesn't make any sense to buy this anymore. So the answer to your question: there is a market but it is very small.SpringHeelJack wrote:A Newbury Comics by me had the Limited Edition LATT used for $14.99...the prices on most of the limted ones I've seen are lesser than the Platinum ones used. Is there still a market for Limited Editions?

That's an awesome find!
On a side note:
I found a new copy of Pollyana(sp?). The Vault Disney DVD. I said, WOW! I thought that was OOP! I guess Best Buy just likes to keep extra copies. Maybe, one of these days, if it's still there, I'll go and buy it. I've never seen the movie before.
Anyway, back on topic
