Don't forget Spongebob Squarepants and Valerie from "Josie and the Pussycats".numba1lostboy wrote:Well, thats understandable. The whole point of the show is that its characters are parodies of popular animated icons.jeremy88 wrote:I heard Princess Clara from that show Drawn Together was a knockoff of Ariel...

I guess you're right. But still...Lars Vermundsberget wrote:Yes, that may be so. But I also think it turns out that a lot of cartoon characters looked more or less like that in those days...Big Disney Fan wrote:One of the earliest sets of Warner Bros characters were a pair of foxes named Foxy and Roxy and minus the slightly pointed ears and big bushy tails, they are obvious ripoffs of Mickey and Minnie.

I seem to remember one episode of "Drawn Together" that featured Popeye as a steroids user dying of Aids that he got from an infected needle. And, I'm pretty sure it was flat out supposed to be Popeye, in name and everything. I couldn't believe they were able to do this! I realize you can get away with nearly anything in the name of parody, Saturday Night Live has gotten away with animating Mickey Mouse outright for some insulting cartoons, but this seemed simply like they were using Popeye as a character on their animated show and totally ruining his rep. Thought this was pretty bad, even though I generally have a sense of humor about such things. I know that Harvey Birdman trashes the Hanna Barbera classics all the time, but that show is Hanna Barbera also.

Oh, and yeah, Princess Clara is a pretty blatant Ariel parody, and they present her almost as a villain of the show in her bigotry and lack of tolerance, but she is darn hot! Ha. Despite having some sort of tentacle monster in her nether-regions as part of some sort of curse from a witch or something.

I know other character ripoffs. This one was from "9 to 5" where Violet (played by Lily Tomlin) dressed as Snow White in a fantasy sequence. Mr. Hart (played by Dabney Coleman) drank coffee and they got rat poison. And then all of a sudden, Hart was falling down and then Voilet, a Snow White wannabe turned into a a Cinderella-esque gown, sorta like the Merryweather girls from "Sleeping Beauty". I got this scene in 2-parts, and here it is.
