Favorite Disney Couples?
I thought this might be fun and I'd love to hear other people's thoughts.
I have to say that my number one Disney couple from an animated feature is Tarzan and Jane. I'm not sure why, but I actually felt chemistry between the two "voices" and their love story was really beautifully done and that was surprising to me since I tend to not like those "destined to be together" couples.
I also adore Belle and The Beast and Kenai and Nita from Brother Bear 2.

Aside from the obvious Mickey and Minnie, my favorite would have to be Chip and Dale. It's so much fun watching two friends banter at each other while trying to foil the likes of Donald or Pluto. Truly, the most enjoyable comedy team in Disney history.

Ariel and Prince Eric are a great Disney couple in my mind. The classic scene in the lagoon set to Sebastian's "Kiss the Girl" is poignant. That they will sacrifice it all for each other (Ariel is willing to relinquish her voice for a chance to be with Eric / Eric decides to finally pursue Ariel, after Grimby coaxes him ("Eric, far better than any dream girl, is one of flesh and blood. One warm, and caring...and right before your eyes."). Eric finally recognizes that he has fallen in love with Ariel for who she is, regardless of her vocal abilities. Thus, he casts his flute into the ocean, and just as he is returning inside (presumably to visit Ariel), who should show up to mar the situation but VANESSA, with a stolen set of pipes!!! I find this movie so romantic. Ursula predicted that Eric would never be able to fall in love with Ariel, because she knew he was obsessed with finding the chanteuse that rescued him. She envisioned that Eric was a throwback to the classic princes of yore (think Snow White's Prince...I love Snow White's Prince, but it's an example here...) that were enamored with a maiden at first sound of a beautiful singing voice. Ursula imagined that without her voice, Ariel was doomed to fail, thus Ursula would eventually rule the sea. But what she didn't comprehend, or perceive, was that Ariel and Eric's love was real...they fell in love with each other for who the other was. Not because of a singing voice. Ursula could sense that Eric was actually able to fall in love with Ariel in the "Kiss the Girl" scene, thus intervention was the perfect choice to ensure that Ariel would not win. Thus, Ursula assumes the guise of a seductress with a knockout voice, taking the name Vanessa. (whom I l-o-v-e, but that's another story...). She bewitches Eric, thus his speech becomes robotic, a la the classic princes of yore that were so wooden and shallow. When Ursula clamors, "So much for TRUE LOVE!" in the ultimate battle with her trident raised to vanquish a quivering Ariel at the bottom of the sea, she was still fixated that Ariel and Eric's love was superficial. Then Eric saves the day, and Ursula is shishkebobbed. Thus, order is restored, and Ariel and Eric dwell pleasantly for the rest of their days (and apparently get it on, hence Melody...). In a nutshell, Ariel and Prince Eric are a fantastic couple.
Also up there on my list are...
Belle and Beast
Princess Jasmine and Aladdin
Princess Aurora and Prince Phillip
Pocahontas and John Smith
Megara and Hercules.
This is such a great thread! The two reasons I love Disney movies are because of the sweeping scores/unforgettable music (I'm a music theatre major), and also because of the romance. =)

Besides Mickey and Minnie, and Donald and Daisy...
Aladdin and Jasmine
I would have chosen Ariel and Eric, but they actually dont have that much chemistry through out the film, well they couldnt really because Ariel couldnt talk for the last half of the movie and they needed help to get into the kissing mood "Kiss the Girl", and it took Eric a while to realize Ariels the right girl. Where as Aladdin and Jasmine's chemistry is like *BANG*. Belle's and Beasts relationship builds up nicely through out the movie also. So Belle and Beast are in second place, and Ariel and Eric come in third.
Prince Phillip and Aurora..not too much going on there besides the meeting in the forest. and well...the amazing wake up kiss...which I don't see how they could have fallen in love that quick after one meeting. But at least he knows hes going to wake her up when he kisses her and not like in Snow Whites story.
Snow White and the Prince.. not a whole lot going on between them either, besides the begining and when well...He kisses her randomly at the end of the movie. What I never got though is why would he kiss her? Did he know she was under a spell and would wake up? Or does he just like kissing dead chicks? Strange.
Cinderella and Prince Charming..This one always confuses me...they only have one meeting..buts its an amazing meeting. I think there a great couple.
Oh and by the way..just because I dont think that Snow White and Sleeping Beauty have a solid romantic storyline. There still GREAT movies, they just seem a little too fast for them to enter "true love" and "happily ever after"
Well there are a lot of other great couples...like Simba and Nala, Hercules and Megara, Pocahontas and John Smith,.
Oh...one story that always makes me sad is...the Hunchback of Notre Dame...every time I watch it..I feel extremly bad for Quasimodo becuase he likes Esmerelda so much, and she goes for that bozo soldier! They do have more chemistry between each other though.

Pocahontas and John Smith are the ones for me! It was my favorite movie as a kid. Their story is so heart-wrenching. And I think they are both bringing out the best in each other (not to mention in each other's people). To me, it feels like this movie is more "adult" (they both seem older than the usual 16-year-old princess) and it shows in their love story: they are mature and very real together.
(And I haven't seen the sequel - and never will -, so I can't contradict myself about that

Absolute number one!!! Belle and the Beast (Adam)
Firstly, I really like the chemistry between Paige O'Hara's and Robby Benson's voice. I love Benson's soft and calm voice. He gives the Beast the emotional depth he needs to make it beleivable and not seem monster-like.
Secondly, Belle ist the prettiest priness ever drawn and the beast looks simply amazing after the transformation when he turns around and we get to see his face for the first time. I had (still do) such a crush on this prince. he looks gorgeous!!! Glen Keane's finest work!!!

I think I'd have a different answer anytime you asked me this question. But, I soooo have to watch Beauty and the Beast again! What a great movie, especially around Christmastime! I think it's Disney's best animated feature, despite my being totally in love with Ariel and Tink, and a huge fan of The Little Mermaid, The Jungle Book, and certain other titles.
Still, I'm not sure Belle and Beast are my pick. But maybe.
Also have to mention Donald and Daisy, who are an awesome pair!
But I suppose Roger and Jessica Rabbit are the most notable and fun! Plus, that's my favorite film of all time!

Megara & Hercules is probably my favorite Disney couple ever. Lady & Tramp would be the next one.
The older fairy tale couples are totally lost to me though. I enjoy the movies, but I can't see how any of them are very romantic. They barely know each other and yet they're supposed to love each other (for better or worse)?

Listening to most often lately:
Taylor Swift ~ ~ "The Fate of Ophelia"
Taylor Swift ~ "Eldest Daughter"
Taylor Swift ~ "CANCELLED!"
In no particular order...
lady and tramp
belle and beast
simba and nala
hercules and meg
dodger and rita (oliver & company)
pongo and perdita
baloo and becky (talespin)
bernard and bianca
duchess and thomas o'malley
bambi and feline
...all other pairings just seem plain too annoying in retrospective for me
