Does anyone else think that now they've seen the artwork on the Web site, it looks good? I've changed my mind about it looking bad, even though I don't think Wendy looks her same, lively self. She kind of looks...like she doesn't have a brain. Same wuth Michael. Now my complaints are that Captain Hook's chin needs to be fatter, less narrow, and Tinker bell's face needs to loose it's chub.

Finally they put the site on. I've been waiting for this DVD, since I didn't get the old one, and I'm excited. I think every available trailer should be on it.
I'm still hoping for the Christmas special.

Well, I don't think EVERY trailer from every release is going to be there, no matter how much we want them to. I mean, not even the Snow White DVD has trailers from every single release of the film ever known, so the odds are that not every Peter Pan trailer will be there either.

As for the Christmas special, I'm pretty sure that will make the trip to this DVD. After all, that other Christmas special (the one about Alice In Wonderland) was included on the Alice DVD, so I'll wager that the chances of this Christmas special being included as well are pretty good.

Well, you guys were lucky! The UK got that lopped off the R2 version!! And I really , REALLY wanted to see it. Do you think it's on youtube anywhere??

The website looks great and t has me really excited for the DVD release. It's been about 2 years since I have seen the film (and that is the only time I ever remember seeing it). To be honest, Peter Pan isn't one of my favorites, but the Platinum Editions always have a way of making me re-evaluate the movie. I think it is all the behind the scenes stuff like the interviews that reflect on the film, and the "making of" segments that make me appreciate the film more. I have a feeling once I see Peter Pan on Platinum Edition, I will have more of an appreciation for the film.

I usually look at all the different offers from retailers (Target, Best Buy, Circuit City) but I usually end up buying from Best Buy 1) Because I have a rewards zone card and 2) because their exclusives are usually the best. I can't imagine there would be plush toys, so I am predicting Best Buy will have a exclusive lithograph. What do you guys think?

Also, do you think there will be any sort of "Box set" or "Collectors set"?

To be honest, I don't want *any* store-exclusive bonuses. It'd just make collecting all the more harder, especially if there's multiple store-exclusive bonus discs (Cars, I'm looking at you!). While I love Peter Pan as much as the next guy, sometimes a 2-disc DVD is all I need to get by. Pins are unnecessary for me. Plush toys are unnecessary for me. Lithographs are unnecessary for me. Wrist bracelets or necklaces are unnecessary for me.

Though, of course, I wouldn't mind for my wishful thinking edition to be the real edition, which includes this as the giftset, pretty much like the previous Platinum giftsets:

-18 Full Size Lobby Cards and Character Design Sheets
-Original Senitype Film Cel Reproductions

OOH! I would want a gift set to come with Peter Pan!(since the little mermaid didnt get one!) but yeah Ive always liked the french special edition artwork for Peter Pan. And that gift set would completely kick ass.

I don't mind the new logo and boarder as much when it's green as I do when it's red. Disney should take a lesson from Escapy! Does anybody on here actually like the red? I think it looks bad. Green is Pan's trademark color. The boxes have always been blue, green, and yellow with Pan's feather being the only red. It just looks wrong to me.

No. You're not alone. I also like the red. I think it gives a much needed update to the Peter Pan logo, and I personally like it 500000000 times better than the old one. (Sorry to those Peter Pan lovers out there that like the original-ish logo, but I like the newer one better. It's far more artistic!)

I think that the red does look nice, but I can understand why some would want it green, as that colour, with its tropical/adventurous feel, goes hand in hand with the spirit of Peter Pan.

Let me tell you, I'm DEFINITELY getting this film when it comes out. The only version of the film that I have was from its very first VHS from 17 years ago, so it's definitely time to upgrade. I missed the boat on the SE version from 2002, but I'm NOT missing the boat on the PE version!

While brousing through the DVDs available on Disneyshopping.com, I saw that Peter Pan is now available for pre-order, but only with a $10 coupon. No lithographs, plushes, or pins. Hopefully they will allow people to pre-order eventually with those bonuses, but usually those are available as soon as the movie is available for pre-order. The litho/plus/pin set has been a dying breed and lately was pretty much exclusive to Platinum's, but now, there is no need for me to pre-order Pan from them with no bonuses when I can just buy it in town on the day of release and take advantage of one of multiple store promotions. To be honest there's not really much on the French/Japanese DVD. The main benefit of the French 2 disc set is the 1927 [? I can't be bothered to check the year] silent version of the film. And it's pretty clear this won't be on the US set.

Disney is dumbing DVDs down lately, so its not a surprise a silent film isn't going to be included, as it wouldn't keep the kiddies happy would it? It looks like they're not even going to put their Peter Pan TV special on (presumably because it's black and white, and off-putting for the kiddies).

That said, the loss of the silent film is not a disaster. Personally, I can watch and enjoy silent films. I have several on DVD, including Nosferatu, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Waxworks, The Hunchback of Notre Dame and The Phantom of the Opera. All are excellent and watchable in their own way - not just because of the subject (You'll notice that they are all horror!) but because they use the limitations of the medium to their advantage. But I couldn't sit through more than 20 mins of the Paramount Peter Pan.

Personally, I think supplements like - In Walt's Words: Walt Disney reveals "Why I Made Peter Pan", Deleted Scenes and Deleted Songs are much more intresting - not only to the general mainstream audience who will be buying the discs, but to the Disneyphile audience as well. Still, it is a massive disappointment that the TV special doesn't look like being included.

The other extra is the "9 Old Men" documentary, which is still one of the best Disney based supplements I've seen. But its not specifically linked to Peter Pan (I believe the link is Peter Pan was the last film all 9 worked on together, but I could be wrong). There's no extra emphasis on Peter Pan in the material, and it covers films before and after Peter Pan.

Therefore, it could appear on any DVD (In my opinion they missed an ideal opportunity by not having it on the Fox and the Hound release, as it would thematically tie-in to the new generation of animators taking over). It actually has an opening like the documentries on the Walt Disney Treasures DVDs... perhaps it will find its way onto one of these (the talking head format, to be honest, is more suited to the Treasures being aimed at the collectors' market). It would be ideal on the promised Rarities Vol 2 release.

So they're not going to release the Christmas TV special after all? Even though they released the other Christmas TV special on the Alice DVD? Man, how stubborn can they get? And by the way, Peter Pan IS the final film all nine worked on together, so you're right. It's also the last animated film distributed by RKO. Anywho, I hope they include:

--Theatrical Trailers (hopefully, more than just the initial release trailer)
--A virtual ride-thru of the Peter Pan ride at the Disney parks (I hope it's the one at Disneyland and Disneyland Paris)
