DuckTales Volume 2 Discussion...

Post by tyger81382 »

I've been looking forward to reading what UD thought of it after reading the thorough and mostly positive review of Volume 1. Now with "Treasure of the Golden Suns" in five part format how it belongs and the classic Scrooge vs. Glomgold four-parter "Catch As Cash Can" will this set get betetr reviews than the first???

Let's not forget that this set has much better episodes than Volume One!!! Volume One wasn't bad just some of the episodes were average in plot while others ranged from good to very good. Most of those were at the end of Disc 2 and on Disc 3. Volume 2 with its two multi-parters already make it ten times better than the first Volume!!!

I'll be so thrilled when Volume 2 arrives at my house this week hoepfully! I preordered it from Amazon on August 25th!!! I plan on watching the pilot then going back and watching all of Volume 1 before enjoying the rest of Volume 2!!!

Who else has preordered and do you plan to watch and rewatch in the order of pilot and abck through Volume 1? Or watch Volume 1 while waiting for Volume 2??? I may just do that instead!!!

Luke's been busy with three reviews this weekend (Gummi Bears V1, Home Improvement S5, and DuckTales V2), not to mention working on the Secret Santa assignments, so it's best to simply wait patiently for him to post it, then leave appreciative feedback in the feedback thread. November and December are going be very busy months for UD, as there are a lot of high-profile releases for the holiday season, as well as a couple interviews that have yet to be posted. So some reviews may come before its release date, some may come on the day of its release, and some may come after. Just remember that patience is a virtue. :)

I was hoping Best Buy or Target would have a deal on the new sets, but looks like none. They had a great deal for when Darkwing and Talespin came out... Not sure if I can spare any cash this week anyway, though I hate not to take advantage of the 14.88 deal for Smallville DVD sets at Target. Wal-Mart has that deal going this week too.

slave2moonlight, maybe you should wait until Smallville gets sold out and then ask Target or Wal-Mart for a raincheck. Safe bet call up Target and Wal-mart and ask if they do rainchecks just in case they don't.

Also Gummi Bears Volume 1, DuckTales Volume 2 and Chip 'n' Dale Rescue Rangers Volume 2 are $23.23 at Amazon so don't let that slip either.

Thanks, MickeyMousePal. I had forgotten that I could try the raincheck thing. Not sure if Wal-Mart does that, but Target did last year. Of course, it could be a repeat of what happened last year, now that I remember it. They had Smallville on sale then too and didn't have any, and I remember getting a raincheck but they didn't get more in until the raincheck expired! Oh well, I'll try to remember to get one if I can find a local Target that doesn't have any in stock.

Yeah, I'll definitely be getting the Gummi Bears set ASAP, though not right away like I did with the previous Disney Afternoon sets (which I rushed out for on the day they were released). It's my most greatly anticipated set and I'm dying for the DuckTales and Rescue Rangers releases as well, but I have to think about getting Christmas gifts for fam and friends. I had almost convinced myself to go get at least Season 2 of Smallville tomorrow, but I really think I need to save what little extra I have for Christmas gifts right now and just hope that, when I get another commission check, something good is on sale that week, ha.

Escapay thanks for letting us know that Luke has been working on his review of DuckTales Volume 2 this weekend. I hope it will be released before Home Improvement Season 5. To me it wouldn't make sense to have Gummi bears Volume 1 then Home Improvement and finally DuckTales. Yes there's so much good stuff coming this holiday season and it's not easy for me to be patient! LOL!!!

Slave2moonlight (I know your name isn't capitalized just at the start of the sentence) I know that DuckTales Volume One was 50 bucks at Best buy last year when it first came out! That's ridiculous and without the pilot I was not willing to pay that much. I had already bought it from Amazon anyway shortly after it was available for preorder. Then I bought a second copy for myself from walmart.com. I was just curious if Best Buy carried Volume 1 last year and what they charged for it.

I also have to buy Christmas gifts but if I can get a Nintendo Wii before Christmas I'm not passing that up. I have over 800 dollars saved in the bank and I'll have to take out over 400 this Sunday. I'd really like to get Yoshi's Island DS (sequel to the original) too. I'll probably ask for Wii Point Cards and controllers for Christmas because I have to have money to spend on Christmas gifts along with money for a January dental appointment and to pay for next semester's math class.

As for DuckTales how excited were you when you heard that "Golden Suns" and "Catch As Cash Can" would be included in the set? I think that is Volume 2's biggest selling point! I hope all of the episodes are unedited and better sound quality than that of Volume 1!!!!

Sorry, but that's how it's going to be. Gummi Bears is 90% done, Home Improvement S5 is entirely watched but about 75% done, and DuckTales is only about 15% watched. That's mostly due to how they sent them out (DuckTales and Chip 'n Dale didn't come to me until last Wednesday) and also an effort to preserve my sanity and enjoyment of these shows.

Watching 47 Gummi Bears episodes and 24 DuckTales episodes is a lot of fun, but when it has to be done over the course of a week and with an eye for synopsizing, critiquing, and getting accurate data, it's a lot less fun. In other words, you'll be able to own "DuckTales" before my review gets posted, unfortunately. But I guarantee you that won't be the case for "Gummi Bears" and the reviews will be comprehensive enough to justify the time (which is anything but excessive, I think).

There is a deal, Best Buy didn't have it in it's ad, but on their website they have a 2 for $40 deal for the sets.

Hope this helps.

That's disppointing but understandable since you didn't get the DuckTales set until last week. Sure having the pilot and the 4 parter is great but there's less episodes with 24 on Volume Two and 27 on Volume One. As for DuckTales it feels like I was among the first to preorder it on Amazon on Aug. 25th and they say a November 17th arrival (around that time) but I think and hope it will be a couple days sooner. Meanwhile tonight and Wednesday I plan on diving back into my Volume 1 set.

Thanks for the update Luke! looking forward to reading your DuckTales review!!!! Happy viewing and reviewing!!!!!

I'll go you one better. DeepDiscountDVD with their 20% off sale has them for about $19.75 with free shipping. Just wait until tomorrow when they are no longer a pre-order and put in one of the codes (ESPN, YAHOO etc) at checkout and there is your %20 off your entire order.

Wow, that's cool thomashton! I don't usually buy on the net though, because I don't have a credit card and some places ONLY accept credit cards, and getting a money order is a hasstle. I usually only do it for Ebay. Plus, with DVDs, I hate to wait or get one with the discs out of place or something, but I do it when there's no other way.

Yeah, I'm thrilled that they're going to have the pilots! Hope there are no missing scenes like in the TaleSpin and Darkwing pilots though!!! I don't remember the scenes supposedly cut from Darkwing, but I do remember the ones from TaleSpin. However, I'm also majorly psyched for the Gummi Bears release! Possibly more than anything, because I used to get up early to catch that show and Wuzzles on Saturday mornings, and it has never even been on VHS in the U.S.!

I don't know how much DuckTales was at Best Buy. I bought Darkwing and TaleSpin there, but I am pretty sure I bought DuckTales and Rescue Ranger for only 25.99 or so at Target the day they came out.

I couldn't wait for the DDD shipment, so I went out at lunchtime to get them.

BestBuy was SOLD OUT of the Gummi Bears!!! :o So, I couldn't get their good 2 for $40 deal.

I went to Sam's Club and got Duck Tales and Gummi Bears for $22.50 each. But, they didn't have the Golden Girls  They ALWAYS have it for $26 on the day it is released. I asked a guy about it and he said someone else had asked and that when he checked, they didn't have it and it wasn't even on his list ( again).

So, I'll either have to shell out $30 to Best Buy or wait for DDD to ship it to me for only $22.23 which I will probably do. It is too good a deal to pass up.

At my Best Buy I didn't find Gummi Bears in the Disney section either and didn't see any Best Buy worker around so I just looked around and found it in a cart. At the time I only found on DuckTales Volume 2. It seems like if the Best Buy employee just left them in the cart since he was going to shelve them soon because DuckTales Volume 2 and Gummi Bears Volume 1 was in that cart along with other new titles.

I hope you picked up those titles today. I would have picked DuckTales over Gummi Bears though. I've never really seen much of Gummi Bears. I rememebr seeing a few episodes when I was little but I didn't watch much Saturday cartoons when I was little. I did watch the DFisney Afternoon though which is where I got into DuckTales and TaleSpin but didn't become a bigger fan until I was odler and undeerstood what the shows were about. Gummi Bears reminds me of Smurfs with the whole Medieval style. In a way this was Disney's version of the Smurfs.

I hope I get DuckTales Volume Two in the mail from Amazon soon!!! Like today or tomorrow!!! In the meantime I'll be re-watching Volume One!!! It will be much better than the often averagey plotted episodes of Volume One. None of the episodes were abd but it wasn't until the end of Disc 2 and Disc 3 when the series really began to shine!!!!

I picked up Ducktales on Tuesday. I will probably ask for Gummy Bears for Christmas, but they did have it at my local Best Buy, and they had a lot of it. I've watched the entire 5 episode pilot so far and it's probably my favorite episode. It's a shame it wasn't on the first set like it was supposed to be, but oh well. I'm watching this and Family Guy volume 4 at the same time, so I usually will watch Family Guy when my homework is done or on breaks from studying and then watch Ducktales to get to bed. It sucks that we have to wait another year before the next set is possibly released. I hope these all sell well enough to get the whole series eventually.

I actually wasn't even aware that they were releasing Ducktales seasons. Glad to hear it. It's one of the few animated series I'd want to pick up.
