Sabrina: The Animated Series

Okay, so they recently released a 2-disc, Best Of DVD set of Sabrina, the Animated Series, which was an animated prequel to the ABC TV series that starred Melissa Joan Hart. Her sister Emily voiced Sabrina in the cartoon, and Melissa voiced the two aunts. Anyways, I was a big fan of this show myself. I never watched the live-action show, and as I look at it now, it is possibly too corny for even me (but I still wish it would get a DVD release, because Melissa Joan Hart was soooo my type, when she wasn't a fake redhead anyway, need to get the pilot TV movie DVD at least), but I loved the cartoon.

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone had the 2-disc, "Very Best Of" DVD of the animated show and knew what was on it. I'm also wondering about the other U.S. released DVDs I don't have and what is on them. All I have currently is the first DVD, Sabrina's World, which combined the contents of the two VHS releases. It has "You Said A Mouse-ful," "Tail of Two Kitties," "Key to My Heart," and "What becomes of the Broken Hearted?" I also have a Free DVD that has 1 or two episodes, but I forget which ones. I'll have to check. I got that one from a box of cereal. The other Sabrina DVD I have is a TV or Direct to Video movie called "Friends Forever." It sort of bridges the gap to the animated spin-off, "Sabrina's Secret Life." As far as I know, none of the short-lived(?) spin-off has been released yet. I haven't seen much of that one, but it looked good too.

Anyways, the other DVDs that have been released that I don't have yet are from the "Animation Station" line. I had never seen any in stores (and because I don't use credit, I don't like to shop online because it's too much trouble), but noticed the Christmas themed one at Wallgreens earlier this week at a nice price of around 5 or 6.99. The titles of the 3 DVDs I don't have, besides the 2-disc "Very Best Of," are: A Witchmas Carol, Bat Attack!, and Witch In Training.

According to Amazon.com reviews, "Bat Attack!" contains the episodes: "Nothin' Says Lovin' Like Something from a Covin", "Witchery Science Theater", "The Bat Pack", and the bonus title, "Field of Screams".

Likewise, a cumstomer says "Witch In Training" contains: "Shrink to Fit", "Strange New World", "The Importance of Being Norma", and "Anywhere But Here" as a bonus episode.

So, basically, I'd like to know if anyone knows what is on "Witchmas Carol" and the "The Very Best of Sabrina the Animated Series" 2-disc set. Also, has anyone seen these or Witch In Training, or Bat Attack, anywhere in retail stores, and if so, which stores? Hope all this wasn't too confusing. I'm mainly trying to find out if the Best Of 2-disc set makes owning those other DVDs unnecessary. I also am wondering where I can find it without having to shop online. If anyone knows the prices, that'd be great too. I'm tempted to go get that Witchmas Carol DVD, but I don't want to if all the episodes it contains are on the 2 disc set. Same with the others I don't have, if I can find them.

By the way, for those after Halloween programs on DVD, "Bat Attack!" is presented with Halloween themed cover art. However, not sure if any of those episodes have anything to do with Halloween (possibly not). I haven't seen them in quite some time.

Wow, thanks for the info! Looks like there wasn't much double dipping! I am going to have to get that 2-disc set when I can, along with the other three Animation Station releases. Still need to check which are on the freebie I got from the cereal box though.

That stinks that two of the ones I need are out of print! I think Amazon still has copies though. I will have to check and I guess will have to get a money order for them. But, ever since they came out, I have looked for them in stores and never seen them until recently spotting Witchmas Carol.

Glad Witchy Girls is on one of them! That's the episode with Weird Al!

Wow, Amazon doesn't have them? That stinks! Thanks for the info! I'm applying for a couple of jobs this week in hopes of getting some DVD cash for until the books I'm working on get published. Here's hoping I find something so I can get these and all those major Disney releases for the next two months (and some Christmas gifts too). Gotta get the Treasures sets, the True Life Adventures, and the Disney Afternoon stuff as priorities.

Well, last night I was at Wal-Mart and finally saw the Sabrina 2-disc set! Looking forward to eventually picking it up, but at the moment I am tight for cash. I did end up getting Witchmas Carol at Wallgreen's for 5.99 though. Pretty great DVD! Some really nice episodes and you also get the openings for several other cartoon shows (the openings are presented as previews of other DVDs), including the 90's Wizard of Oz cartoon that was strongly based on the MGM film! Looking forward to getting the DVD of that one! Anyway, Wallgreen's had these Animation Station DVDs at 5.99 each or 3 for 11.99. Now that I stop to think about it, I wish I'd gotten the 11.99 deal, but I was in a rush at the time. Wouldn't have minded getting the Inspector Gadget Christmas DVD though. I might go back and get some as gifts for my friends with that 3 for 11.99 deal.

Anyways, I also finally checked out the Sabrina Animated Series DVD that I got free from... I think General Mills cereals... It had two episodes, though both can be found on other releases: "What Becomes of the Broken Hearted" (which I had already) and "Witch Switch," which is on the new 2-disc release.

Still hoping to eventually get the 2-disc and find Bat Attack and Witch In Training somewhere. However, I hope that 2-disc set isn't just testing the waters for season sets... I mean, I'd love season sets, but if I end up getting the 2-discer, I'd rather they release more Best Of 2-discers till the whole show is out. I hate to have to double dip...
