I teach a class on Widescreen vs. Pan & Scan (Foolscreen) at the Experimental College here in Wichita. This is my second semester and this year I have 23 students, which is up almost 50% from last year.

That's awesome! I'm minoring in film, and I'd love to take that class...if they had it at my school, I'd take it...

Same thing at my Best Buy- I got there a minute or two after the store opened, went to customer service to get my DVD (since I pre-ordered it), and I asked the employee if I still get a poster, and he said yes, go back and get one, but hurry up. Unless there was another stack of them that I didn't see, there were hardly any left after I got mine. And,yes, it is pretty darn sweet.
The package it's in almost acts like a frame...when I buy a frame for it (we put our posters in frames), I wonder if I should leave it in it's package...probably not, though...

No, I don't work at Best Buy, but you can find me there at least three days a week just checking out what is in stock, and seeing my friends.

Lots of good questions come up, and I do a lot of demonstrations. Don't know how many converts I have made, but the reputation of the class is good, and I am always getting stopped by other Professors who want to clarify a certain point.

Being an ex-Disc Jockey, I don't find it hard to stop people on the street or in the stores and ask them questions. I don't ever get pushy, and always have a smile on my face.

That is so cool do you have like a website with the info on the difference between the two in laymans terms of course .... since I never minored or majored in anything of that sort

but it sounds so interesting to learn about...

As has been stated the poster is indeed 11 X 14 and comes in a sleeve. And I agree, it is pretty cool as far as I'm concerned. Special packaging for the gift set has the 4 cars visible to the right side of the dvd. The package has a little handle on top.

I picked up my widescreen copy of Cars today at my local Best Buy. The 3D poster is pretty cool, especially since it was free!

My Target is giving out the pins at the registers to people who buy either version of the movie - and I didn't have to ask for it, either!

On the other hand....they had a very poor display of the Cars DVD. It wasn't where their normal new releases are.....it was way in the back and by the registers as well. I had to look for it.

My sister just got Pixar's box set with the 4 cars at Best Buy along with Transfomers: The Movie 20th Anniversary.

Well, got back from Target awhile ago. My prediction was right, the Target Disc has the bonus features from R4 disc (minus the Wal-Mart ones), but it also includes as 12-minute featurette as well.

Coupled with the Wal-Mart disc (34) minutes, that's 72 minutes of bonus footage that SHOULD have been part of the release and not a store exclusive.

I went before work and bought just the regular Widescreen edition at WalMart. They had a huge layout for the release and I was shocked to see people grabbing the movie left and right. I'm not exactly from a huge town so it really surprised me to see so many people buying this like they were.

Since it was only seven in the morning they only had like two registers open and both were full of people, all with the Cars dvd. I hadn't ever seen the movie before so it really shocked me to see what all the fuss was about.

Now I've watched it and understand.

I'm sure Disney/Pixar has another winner on their hands for DVD release. I expect this will do even better than the Platnuim edition of TLW that was released a few weeks ago.

I got the Walmart DVD with the bonus disc.
I love music videos so I had to go with this one.

HOWEVER, I feel like I was cheated because if Disney and Pixar would have just put the both discs together and made a 2-disc set it would have saved me time and money!

Also, how is the Target disc? Did I make the right move?

I skipped on the "bonus disc" at Target. Didn't look worth the extra $4. I got the regular edition (widescreen of course). And the free pins were in a little display next to some CARS dvds. I went to find the bonus disc to see what it had and as I said above, it didn't look worth it. I got my nephew the DVD at Walmart just in the last 25 minutes. The bonus disc looked great, but I would have had to remove it from the packaging before I gave him the dvd (I wanted the bonus disc) so I skipped on that, too. I got him the basic one, Widescreen of course.


Disney/Pixar blew it - they SHOULD have released a great 2 DISC set with all the features that Target & Walmart had.

Escapay, I did not miss your post. I was just wondering what the featurettes were about beyond the titles and the runtimes. Thanks for posting the info for confirmation though.
