while i liked OTH I would not really say it was better than Cars. I'll admit Cars was a little slow here and there but it was great.

"Over The Hedge" (gad, I hate those abbreviations you people use!) is one of the better animated films to come out in a long time. But I will agree that compared to "Cars", it doesn't hold a candle and if I were to pick the top three animated films so far on DVD this year it would be "Cars", "Monster House", and "Over The Hedge".

I do think that all the extras on the "Over the Hedge" disc make the single-disc release of "Cars" look a little bare-bones, but then we do have a two-disc to look forward sometime next year, and then "Cars" will reign supreme.

While I really, really liked Over the Hedge, and also consider it the best DreamWorks animated film out of all of them (yes, better than the immensly overrated Shrek films and Wallace and Gromit), it's nowhere near as good as Cars. Between those two, plus Monster House and (yes!) Open Season, it's been a terrifc year for animation, and with Flushed Away coming out next week, it looks like another great animated film could be coming out.

Right now, I'd say the Best Animated Feature Oscar is between Monster House and Cars. Hedge might get nominated, but like I said, Flushed comes out next week, and I hope instead of another Wallace and Gromit we get another Chicken Run.

Cheers,

P.S. : Escapay, out of curiousity, what store had Cars out early? K-Mart and F.Y.E. around here in Orlando are terrible (or great, depending on your perspective :P ) about putting things out too early. I saw them put V For Vendetta out two weeks early this past summer, but at the price of $30.99 I made the wise decision to wait and grab it at Target and get the mini-Comic with it.
Cheers,
JM :thumb:

Wallace & Gromit is overrated? BLASPHEMY!!!

Plus, it's primarily from Aardman and is distributed by DreamWorks.

A local video store called Bandit Video.

If you hate abbreviations, we'll need to change your name to "Digital Video Disc junkie" instead of "dvdjunkie", lol. :P

Or it could be "Digital Versatile Disc". Whichever is the proper one these days...
