This season has been really great, everyone is losing so much weight, and now is the time when you can really notice everyone's progress. If there is anyone here at UD who is watching The Biggest Loser, this will be there official thread for it (and I did check, and there isn't one yet
NBC's The Biggest Loser
NBC's The Biggest Loser
Is anyone here a fan of NBC's The Biggest Loser. I have been watching this show for the past two seasons now and I have to say, I'm hooked! I think this is actually one of the better reality shows out there. I think America got really reality show crazy for a while, but now that has all calmed down and only the good ones remain. I love this show because it is very inspiriational. I myself am not overweight, but it is really great to watch these people overcoming obstacles. It is very inspiring to watch the people on this show and see their determination and dedication to losing weight. Everyone can relate to this show because everyone has had to work hard to achieve something they really really wanted.

I do retract my statement saying that only good ones remain because that is definately NOT true, I don't even know why I said that. However, I do think there are a few good reality shows out there.Escapay wrote:There's no such thing as a good reality show.Simba3 wrote:I think America got really reality show crazy for a while, but now that has all calmed down and only the good ones remain.

No, there really aren't. It's one of the few Universal truths that is not relative in any conceivable way; no matter how fast you're moving through the Universe, where you are on the probability axis, what point you're at in time or space, or anywhere else there is to be. You could even be outside the Multiverse entirely, where every other law breaks down, and all reality TV would still suck.Simba3 wrote:I do retract my statement saying that only good ones remain because that is definately NOT true, I don't even know why I said that. The "winner" of The Biggest Loser should, if there's any sense to the Universe at all, be its audience.
The fact is, no reality show shows "reality". Somebody loosing weight on a TV show has more incentive and motivation than if they were doing it just for themselves. People are always thinking about how they will look on camera.
Perhaps shows like Big Brother do show a form of reality, being as the contestants are under camera for so long (God alone only knows how long UK Big Brother goes on for these days... I think it's 4 months), but even then, while they may be catching ungarded comments, its still not reality, because the environment and tasks are so false. (Plus each year they pick more and more freaks to go into the house)
Worse of all are the reality shows which have people voted off. It's clear the only reason people watch these is so they can see the disappointment and misery on people's faces when they are rejected. Because that's what it is - people intruding on people's emotions when they are rejected by the nation. And its always the people who "overreact" who get discussed the next day, or the footage repeatedly shown on other entertainment programmes. We're like ghouls basking in other people's misery, and I hate it.

Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database
