Anyone know how the Pirates DVD sold?
Nemo sold 8 million copies the first day of release. Does anyone know how many copies Pirates sold in comparison?

No I don't know, but I can tell you that people haven't been all that interested in purchasing it at the disney store, not like Nemo anyway but it's still selling copies...
I bought my copy yesterday, by the way I can't tell you how many people have been inquiring about the Treasures, I'm the only at the disney store that knows anything, cause everyone else is completely stupid!!!! Anyway they all have been pretty ticked about the delay, they pretty much all felt the same way I did, "they're limited editions!!!! so just release them in their limited quantities on time, and allow the people who really want them to make sure their first in line to buy them... anyway, it's too late not to release them on time, but they could move up the date!!!!
I think the thing that people hate the most is not that they were oushed back, which is still very upsetting but that they were pushed back so damn far!!!!
Anyway hopefully Pirates is selling well, a lot of people did inquire about it before it was released...

Defy Gravity
From the looks of it, its selling like hotcakes. My local Best Buy had only half a stock left first day, and the line for the registers was extremely long with everyone holding a copy of Pirates - at least locally, thats even better than Finding Nemo.
I think it has the potential to sell more than some expect. This is a film that truly appeals to everybody, IMO.

A friend of mine, who got his at Best Buy, didn't get a ticket with his. So I'd guess that it's only ones that are marked.Rebel wrote:I noticed that some of the packaging says that the free Haunted Mansion ticket is included and other packaging does not. Did Disney put the tickets in all the boxes or are there some without?
Pretty good guestimate. <a href="http://www.ultimatedisney.com/forum/vie ... 000,000</a>indianajdp wrote:Got the MovieCash as well.
My guestimate on the first day for POTC is about 3,000,000 units.

So, some people found a MovieCash ticket to see Haunted Mansion inside their copies of Pirates of the Caribbean. I had been expecting this, it makes sense: they're both inspired by theme park rides and thus go after the same core audience; also, Pirates is definately going to be a hot seller (it already is and will pick up steam as holiday shoppers rush out in force) so including a Haunted Mansion ticket would be an easy way for Disney to drive people to Mansion. Also, there had been some reports of Mansion tickets being included in Santa Clause 2 as well.
However, my Pirates DVD did NOT come with any sort of ticket. There was the Buy 3 Get 1 Free promotional slip and a Lion King DVD sweepstakes ad/entry form, but no Haunted Mansion ticket.
Now, I've seen Haunted Mansion already, but I'd really really love to go again, since it was a really fun movie. But Mom usually won't pay for me to see the same movie twice, and Dad (who saw it with me the first time because he was taking my brother) said later that you could twiddle your thumbs and stare into space for an hour and a half and have a better time than you would seeing Haunted Mansion, so I seriously doubt he'll pay up again either. So I could use that ticket. Any ideas about how to obtain one now that I already bought Pirates without having to buy Pirates again? I should have gotten one in Pirates, but alas, no.
A simmilar thing happened to me before. When I bought my copy of Finding Nemo, the only thing in the case was the insert - no ads - and I knew there were ads since the family's copy came with them. And call me crazy if you want to but I wanted the ads. Called up Disney and they promptly sent me a big envelope with pretty much every single ad insert they currently have active offers in. I wonder if they'd send me a Haunted Mansion ticket if I did this again??
And, Pirates buyers, did your copy come with a Haunted Mansion ticket? Just curious. Thanks guys!
As far as the Pirates sales numbers are concerned: Wow. I was expecting it to make a splash and it seems like it did. Can't wait for first week numbers to come in, it should be huge. The movie is great and the DVD is exellent. I also must compliment the DVD producers on the menus - effective and cool, but SIMPLE and incredibly easy to nevigate, something I'm glad to see Disney remembering after the fiasco that was the menus for Lion King.
