I thought the same thing about Knick Knack. It would have made more sense to have Vincent in front (or Frankenwinne, but at 30 min it would have taken alot of work). I guess they chose Knick Knack because it has a snowman in it. And snowmen (or snowperson ) are somewhat Christmas related.

Knick-Knack was fitting because Pixar helped make "The Nightmare Before Christmas." If you read all of the credits, the ghosts in the film were all done by Pixar so it makes sense to have a Pixar short in front of the film and Knick Knack is the most holiday related short they have due to the snowman as the main character, as Flanger-Hanger said.

3-D DVD

Post by disneyboy20022 »

Now I wonder why they can't Put The Nightmare Before Christmas on 3-D DVD? I mean they did it with Spy Kids 3 Game Over. Disc one was in 3-D but disc 2 is in regular format... I don't get why they can't do the same thing as they did with Spy Kids 3D Game Over. Even if it would be differ than in theaters at least it would still be 3-D. Anyone else have ideas. Maybe Luke Does??? If it the differ kinda glasses I would pay for a gift set for the glasses. Perhaps 4 glasses and a 2-disc set disc 1 in 3-D and disc 2 in regular format for like $35 at wal-mart. I would do that in a heart beat.

It's a different kind of 3-D. Red and Blue overlay 3-D is possible to do on a home television set. Normal 3-D isn't due to interlacing. However, as HDTV's become more advanced, we will one day have TV's capable of this type of 3-D and then maybe we will get a 3-D version on home video. At the moment, I don't think even Blueray or HDDVD is capable of handling this type of 3-D. Only projection can.

According to box office mojo, The Nightmare Before Christmas 3D took $3.2 mil over its opening weekend.

I saw the movie yesterday afternoon! [review]

For the most part I was very pleased. I wasn't sure what to expect before seeing the movie because I didn't see Chicken little in 3-D...this was my first time seeing anything like this. I think expected the 3-D effects to be a little more intense. For the most part the 3-D was very subtle and honestly at times hardly noticeable, but this doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it. Once the movie really got started and I got used to the fact that it wasn't exactly what I had expected it was a lot of fun.

My favorite scene in terms of 3-D was without a doubt the town meeting Jack held after returning from Christmas town. I think this scene stood out so much because his motions are so dramatic and animated in this scene that everything really popped. There was also a moment at the end when the vampires were playing ice hockey with a pumpkin and it appeared to be shot out into the audience, that was probably the best 3-D effect, I literally jumped out of my seat lol.

For those of you who have to travel a great distance to see the movie in 3-D, I'm not sure if its worth it or not. It's definitely worth seeing if its playing in your area but I don't know if I would go too far out of my way to see it, just my opinion. I can't wait to hear some other reviews!

I forgot that part, that was really neat!

If it does, the only thing that really needs improving is making it an anamorphic transfer. Otherwise, it's perfect as is, with a commentary, a making-of, deleted scenes, storyboards, art galleries, publicity materials, and bonus shorts (Vincent and Frankenweenie).

The thing that interests me the most for the Boxofficemojo weekend wrapup article:

However, the highlight of the weekend came from a 13-year-old movie. Buena Vista re-released Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas in 3-D and snared $3.3 million from 168 locations, averaging $19,505 per site. Viane sees the macabre stop-motion animated feature as a perennial and plans another re-issue for next October. "This year we had 168 theaters," said Viane. "Next year, I would expect we'll have somewhere between 700 and 1000 theaters that can play 3-D. This is the Disney version of The Rocky Horror Picture Show."

-------------

So I guess I'll have to wait and see it next year then. Better than never though.

Also about the soundtrack

Post by disneyboy20022 »

For those of you who can't decide on whether or not to buy the New
2-disc Special Edition Soundtrack of The Nightmare Before Christmas. Aol music is offering people to LEGALLY Listen to the entire soundtrack song by song. I plan on Buying it tomorrow at best buy since it comes with 2 bonus tracks only at best buy. Now the one song I am listening to right now that I am right now disgusted with is Not Marilyn Manson's Version of This is Halloween but rather the band She Want's Revenge's version of Kidnap the Sandy Claws just really makes gives me a headache... worse than marilyn manson's song on the soundtrack. At least Manson sticks with somewhat of the original score of This is Halloween compare to She Wants Revenge's version of Kidnap the Sandy Claws. It's about as annoying as that commericial for headaches Head-on Apply Directly to the forehead - Head on Apply Directly to the Forehead... Head on apply directly to the forehead.. Anyway Before I give myself a headache here is the link....

Just went to watch this movie and I'm so glad I got to watch in theatres this time around, as I didn't in '93 (though I wanted to!). XD~

And about the glasses, I was wondering if you'd keep getting them every time you bought a ticket for either Nightmare or other Disney 3-D films. Seems kind of like a waste to get more if you already have one and the hefty admission fee must cover the glasses as well...
Wherever. Whatever. Have a nice day.

*Sigh* it isn't playing anywhere near me :x

It's a shame too, according to my mom I saw it in the theaters back in '93 and fell in love with it right then and there... but I have no memory of actually seeing it on the big screen.
But the thing that makes Woody special, is he'll never give up on you... ever. He'll be there for you, no matter what.

So I saw his movie for the 1st time ever tonight, I also saw it 3D. Any word when they are going to re-release this DVD? I have been hearing 2007...but when in 07? I don't celebrate Christmas, but I love this movie. The 3d experience was awesome too.

I've always thought it was more of a Halloween movie. But anyways, I wouldnt wait around for a new dvd release, if anything they would take some of the great extras out of the original touchtone and replace them with kid friendly games. I guess the film could use a little remastering, but just go out and get it.

It's also getting another, wider run I believe. I saw a poster in the hallway of my local theater. I guess that's next year now that Toy Story and Christmas Carol are up.

"Tim Burton’s THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS is returning to Hollywood’s El Capitan Theatre from October 21 through October 31, and for the first time ever it will do so in “4-D.” Find out what the heck that means after the jump.

The LA Times reports that NIGHTMARE (directed by Henry Selick) will be shown in 4-D—that’s Disney 3-D plus special FX in the theater itself, such as wind and fog. NIGHTMARE composer/songwriter Danny Elfman is scheduled to perform at the El Capitan Theatre at 7 p.m. before the Oct. 22. screening. He’ll take the stage to perform material from the soon to be released Danny Elfman & Tim Burton 25th Anniversary Music Box, a 16-CD boxed set featuring 19 hours of music from all 13 Burton/Elfman films (including seven hours of previously unreleased rarities)."

Don't feel bad. I have the Jack seat covers in my car, stickers on my car and antenna topper. This is about the only time of year my car probably doesn't seem so odd. I used to have the sun shade for the windshield with Jack and Zero but it fell apart.

I have a few other Jack items as well, mostly gifts. Jack gloves, messenger bag (which I use as a diaper bag ), Jack pillow, phone case, a unique shirt that I don't even fit in anymore but can't bear to get rid of, and a Jack pillowcase. I stopped short of the entire bedding set as it was not offered in the size I needed at the time. I was a little more hardcore about it when I was in college and made my own Jack hoodie. I mean, I found a Jack image and ironed it on a shirt and sewed it on the back of the hoodie along with some store bought patches with Sally and Zero. Never been much of a fan of Lock, Shock and Barrel.

And like you, I saw it when it was originally released.
