Wow Jake, that's really sad, I'm 14 too, and I can't even fathom losing my father. My dad had two heart attacks when he was 49, and he was very fortunate to survive. I hope that you will have strength to pull through this tough time, and you will be in my thoughts and prayers. May the lord be with you and your loved ones during this time.

I lost my mother last year (very, very long story). I'm 22 now. So I know exactly what you're going through. Losing loved ones is no doubt the worst part of life, but we have to accept it, as depressing it is. I will say this, and right now you might not believe it, but as time goes by you'll begin to feel better and start thinking about the happy memories.
It took me about a year to start thinking more of the good days than the bad ones (when mom got seriously ill). I even had a few unpleasant dreams once in a while (the first one being exactly two weeks after she died, which I'll never forget). You probably won't have a good holiday season this year, but your next one will be better. After you've gotten through all 365 days and all the special days in the year, the following years will be easier.
You'll be fine. Grieving is a natural process. We'll be thinking about you. I'm sorry for your loss.

You've taught me not to take my dad for granted, sometimes life's not fair, you'll get through this though, and after a few years of pain, and many years of happiness, eventually all of your family will be reunited with your dad.

Thanks. The thing that gets me is that he was improving a lot from his heart failure (caused by a virus) and then he got a staff infection which they said was not a worry and then the next day they called and said he took a turn for the worst... My mom and I were hugging him telling him not to leave us when he died. At that point he was in a comma but earlier when I was crying he lifted his hand up to wipe away my tears and promised me he wouldn't die. Then at the memorial service I was holding his hand and that was the same hand that I held when I was scared, sad or just needed to be comforted. That same hand fed me food when I was little and picked me up when I got hurt and then there he is lying there - life less. My dad, my hero, me

I'm sorry for your terrible loss. Like others have said, you will be in my prayers. May God give you and your family the strength to get through this rough patch that you're going through.
