Favorite Disney Ride!

Post by Simba3 »

Has anyone been on the new ride at Animal Kingdom called "Expedition Everest"? I think that is one of the best rides at the 4 Orlando Disney theme parks! I thought it was really cool. What are your favorite rides?

I've ridden Everest 5 times already and it will be 6+ in December. lol. I think it's awesome. It is my favorite ride at Animal Kingdom. My absolute favorite ride in all of Disney World is the Rock N' Rollercoaster at the Disney MGM Studios. It's the best roller coaster I've been on, and I've been on a lot of them. My favorite ride at Epcot is the Universe of Energy, which is changing soon. If I don't care for the new version, or if they remove it all toghter, Soarin' will be my new favorite, although I'll see how I feel after I ride Nemo in December. It's so hard to choose a favorite at the Magic Kingdom because there are so many great ones. My favorite Fantasyland ride is Peter Pan's Flight. My favorite mountain is Space Mountain. I LOVE the Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean and I really enjoy the new editions to that ride. I honestly can't pick a least favorite at the Magic Kingdom. I love them all. I love every ride at Epcot and Disney MGM Studios as well. My least favorite ride at the Animal Kingdom and in all of Disney World is Kali River Rapids. As far as water raft rides go, it's very short, it has a long line, and there isn't much to see. It pales in comparison to the one at Disney's California Adventure which is on Grizly Peak. I think I've done it twice in my life and I go to Disney World at least once a year, mostly twice. It will be 3 times in December. lol. I can't wait!

This is just based on the Florida parks, as it's been too long since I've been to Disneyland to fairly assess them, and I haven't been to the parks in Paris, Tokyo, or Hong Kong yet.

It's divided into Attractions (rides) and Shows (on stage, fireworks, or parades)

Magic Kingdom (Fantasyland) - Mickey's Philharmagic
Magic Kingdom (Tomorrowland) - Carousel of Progress
Magic Kingdom (Adventureland) - Pirates of the Caribbean
Magic Kingdom (Frontierland) - Splash Mountain
Magic Kingdom (Liberty Square) - Haunted Mansion
Magic Kingdom (Show) - Wishes!

EPCOT (Future World) - Spaceship Earth
EPCOT (World Showcase) - Norway's Maelstrom
EPCOT (Show) - Ellen's Universe of Energy (it's more show than attraction, IMO)

Disney-MGM Studios (Attraction) - The Great Movie Ride
Disney-MGM Studios (Show) - Beauty and the Beast: Live on Stage

Disney's Animal Kingdom (Attraction) - Expedition Everest
Disney's Animal Kingdom (Show) - Tarzan Rocks (before they dumped it, and I currently have no favorite show at Disney's Animal Kingdom)

I haven't been out to WDW since 2004, and didn't even get to hit Animal Kingdom that year because it was a rush trip (though a really great one, but I was sad to miss Animal Kingdom). So, I haven't ridden Everest. I also haven't been on Rock 'n' Rollercoaster because it goes upside down. I am greatly tempted though, because I LOVE Aerosmith... Anyways, it's tought to pick a fave ride. I can't even pick a fave park from the 4. But here are some of my top fave rides and attractions, not really in order.

Top Faves:
Pirates of the Caribbean (haven't seen the new, redone version yet)
Star Tours (I'm a big Star Wars fan)
Voyage of the Little Mermaid (I'm in LOVE with Ariel)
The Haunted Mansion
Dinosaur
Fantasmic
American Adventure
The Great Movie Ride
Maelstrom
the Mexico boat ride (I love the World Showcase rides)

Other Faves:
Spaceship Earth
Indiana Jones Stunt Show (I'm a HUGE Indiana Jones fan)
Kilimanjaro Safaris
whichever light parade they are having at Magic Kingdom
Splash Mountain
Carousel of Progress
Phil-Har-Magic
Muppetvision 3-D (I'm a HUGE Muppet fan)
Honey, We Shrunk the Audience (I'm a huge Honey fan)
Tough to be a Bug (people seem tired of these kinds of shows, but I LOVE 'em!)
Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin (it's fun!)
Peter Pan's Flight (magical)
Country Bears (wish animatronics were more frequent in the parks again)
Jungle Cruise
The animals at Animal Kingdom
The characters to meet and greet

Gone faves:
20,000 Leagues Submarines (I thought this ride was a bit scary)
Mr. Toad's Wild Ride (everyone loves this one)
The extremely themed Main Street (before it was mostly just a big Disney Store)
Tarzan Rocks
The original Journey Into Imagination ride
Kitchen Cabaret, and pretty much all of original FutureWorld in EPCOT, except for the original Universe of Energy
Alien Encounter (first time I rode it, I wasn't that impressed, but it really grew on me. Haven't had a chance to ride Stitch yet).
Lion King puppet show (I forget the real name of this)
The Disney Afternoon/Duckburg presence in Mickey's Toontown
The Roger Rabbit/Dick Tracy presence at Disney MGM Studios, and the lack of a big hat blocking view of the Chinese Theater
Vincent Price's narration of Sorcery in the Sky
the old animation tour and the old backlot tour with the Honey bee and stuff

Shops and eateries:
The Emporium
EPCOT's main shop (I forget the name)
The Main Street Ice Cream Parlor (tradition at the end of every night at the Magic Kingdom)
I have only tried a few dining places at the parks, but my fave right now is probably the simplistic Pecos Bill's.
The 50's TV Cafe (I think that's the one I mean,... where they treat you like a kid)
The shop in the left as you enter Disney MGM, where they sell movie posters and autographs (the name escapes me just now)
The villain shop that I think is gone now at Disney MGM
I love the Japan Dept Store in EPCOT, though I wish it had some Sailor Moon for once on one of my visits, and I think the store used to be better (more Japanese/less American in feel). Also love any shops related to the rides I like, like the little shop for Indiana Jones.
Used to love Mickey's Character Shop in the Disney Shopping Village. Is that still a free Disney shopping area, by the way? I LOVED the Disney Shopping Village.

I guess that's good for now, but I'm sure I'm forgetting some stuff

I'm not sure what you mean by "Mickey's Character Shop." In downtown Disney, there is the MASSIVE World of Disney store that has just about everything you can find in the parks. Then there are smaller themed stores. Theres one full of sports gear, Christmas decorations, scrap book materials, just toys, art, jewelery, Pooh, etc. All are Disney stores with TONS of merchandise, but I think the only store with a large selection of just Mickey and the gang is the World of Disney, which used to have a whole room full of them, but has since been taken over by Princesses and the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. Also, the main toy section of the store has been taken over by Pirates, but it's ok because Once Upon a Toy is like 20 feet away. lol. By the way, if you go into the back of Once Upon a Toy, they have EVERY DVD currently available in stock, and if they are out, you can buy it and they will ship it to you. And often when films go "back into the vault," they will still carry it for a year later. I'm assuming this is where Disney sends most of their unsold copies. It's probably the best kept secret in Downtown Disney since you have to go to the very back of the store where there are no seperate entrances to get to this magical place. The walls are lined with Disney DVDs!!!!!

Well, there is a site called Walt Dated World, about Disney World's closed down stuff, and it mentions Mickey's Character Shop and even has a photo of the huge display that hung from the ceiling above the stuffed toy section in the center of the store. The display was Mickey and the gang in a flying machine. It was basically a big store with a huge display of stuffed animals in the center, and lots of other toys. It might have been a toy store specifically, but I'm not sure of that. Anyways, this was when they had A LOT more variety of plush toys and stuff. No, it wasn't just Mickey and the gang. It was a great place to pick up a plush toy or PVC figure of Disney characters from all sorts of Disney films! I LOVED that store. I forgot which store they turned it into though, and it no longer has the big airship hanging from the ceiling. It was really cool! I remember it from back when that part of Downtown Disney was called the Disney Shopping Village. It was really cool and quaint back then.

I forgot, though I don't often buy much there, that I love that Christmas shop there too, and the one they used to have for fine Disney animation collectibles. I wonder if that is still there. Glad they still have the Christmas shop.

I think I vaguely remember that. And my family and I still refer to that section of Downtown Disney as "the villiage." lol. It's hard to let old habbits die.

I was just there in September and I must say my two favorite rides were Splash Mountain and Spaceship Earth. My favorite show was Mickey's Philharmagic and the MNSSHP parade was outstanding.

As the resident Disneyland Paris dweeb, I'll be the first to do that...

Disneyland Paris:
Main Street USA: I quite liked Discovery Arcade, which is one of the covered walkways on this street. That's all there is really aside from a few vehicle rides along here.

Frontierland: Whilst it is a bit overrated, I really do love Big Thunder Mountain. And the Haunted Mansion (okay, it's called Phantom Manor in Paris, but what the heck) also rocks.

Adventureland: Pirates of the Caribbean!

Fantasyland: Alice's Curious Labyrinth and Pinocchio's Daring Journey (or Les Voyages de Pinocchio as it's known in Paris) are easily the way forward. Actually, I love all the rides in this area. That's what digging all the classic Disney films leads you to.

Discoveryland: Star Tours, with Space Mountain very close behind.

Walt Disney Studios:
Okay, well, since Fantasyland in the park next door has as more rides (thank god they're expanding this park), I won't divide this into lands. I'll just say that the Motors Action stunt show, the Animation Tour and Rock n'Rollercoaster rock my sox.

I'm surprised that I haven't responded to this yet!

I've only been to three parks - Disneyland, DCA and Hong Kong - so I'll base it on those.

Disneyland

Adventureland: Indiana Jones - No question, rode it twice while I was there. I do love the Enchanted Tiki Room too.
Tomorrowland: Star Tours, although it does get a bit "meh" after the second or third go...
Fantasyland: Peter Pan's Flight, my favourite of all the dark rides.
Main Street: That place they sell the ice cream sundaes...
New Orleans: Pirates of the Caribbean, no question.
Frontierland: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad!
Critter Country: Splash Mountain, Pooh is a close second
ToonTown: Roger Rabbit's Cartoon Spin

DCA
Tower of Terror (Backlot), Flik's Flyers (A Bug's Land), Soarin' (Condor Flats/Golden State)...just NOT the Sun Wheel. Shudder.

Hong Kong Disneyland

Space Mountain (rode it about 4 times), Mickey's PhilharMagic, Teacup and the Jungle River Cruise (quite different to US versions).
