My Find at Gamestop Today

Post by Jungleprince_55 »

I was at Gamestop today and they had a 3 for 30 sale on DVDs that were $12.99 and I Found Dumbo 60th Anniversary, Fox & The Hound Gold Collection, and an Authentic Little Mermaid Limited Issue.

Even though all 3 of these titles currently have new editions out I got them because I Wanted the Dumbo 60th anyway but I could never find it when it was still around so i just got the Big Top one when it came out but I like the 60th better, and now I have an Authentic Little Mermaid Limited Issue to replace my other one which is actually a High Quality bootleg from Amazon, And I havent picked up the New Fox and the Hound DVD yet and since the transfer isnt that much of an improvement I just got this one.

This is probably the best find i've found in a while though.

I never find anything tempting at my gamestop/ebgames stores. the only interesting things Ive found are

Home on the Range (which Im a huge Roseanne fan, but have never really watched)

Treasure Planet (Saw it on Toon Disney, thought it was ok.)

and uh... I think thats it as far as Disney DVD's go.

I would love to find TLM II: Return to the Sea.

That's awesome!!

I still can't beleive my luck one day when I found BOTH Snow White and Beauty and the Beast Platinum Editions BOTH there on the shelf at my local GameStop. They were both in absoulte mint condition, complete with all inserts (even a slipcover on BATB!)

I have watched each a billion times since then, with no problems at all. And best of all, I got both for less than $25.

Since then, I've never had that kind of luck at GameStop!!

Lol, that made me think of an occurence about 6 years ago when my friend got both Charizard and Blastoise foil rare Pokemon cards from the same card store at the same time! :P I couldn't believe his luck!!

I rarely have good luck when I go to Gamestop for DVDs. I think the best I got was a $3.99 Collector's Edition of West Side Story gift pack thingamajiger, but I didn't even want the movie but Escapay did so I got it for him. That same time though, I also found a widescreen Cheaper by the Dozen(Steve Martin, Bonnie Hunt, kids) and Yours, Mine and Ours (Dennis Quaid, Rene Russo, kids), which I have been looking for for ages.

As far as Disney DVDs go, my best luck was finding Oliver and Company, but I didn't have the money for tax. The same thing happened when I found Monster's Inc.. Escapay was with me both times and wouldn't lend me money for Monster's Inc. and then bought Oliver and Company for himself :(. He's mean. I guess I get luck, but then get unlucky because my brother's a jerk. Gahh, why am I buying DVDs for him though?? (sorry, thinking to myself)

Anyhow, congratulations on your finds and I hope more of us get that lucky. Right now, I'm hoping to stumble upon an TENG CE and Atlantis CE and the Aristocats and Fantasia movies.

Pshaw. You had the money, didn't want to spend it, so I did and later you regretted it and wanted to buy it from me.

I got you those nice copies of Prince of Egypt, Tarzan CE, and Mommie Dearest, didn't I? And you could have also had copies of Ten Commandment SCE, Some Like it Hot SE, Romancing the Stone, Hannibal SE, and several other movies!

Seems like my luck at GameStop comes and goes and isn't just limited to Disney. So grateful for the $5.99 Doctor Who DVDs I got there (which really were $3.33 thanks to the 3/10 sale). Also, as always, I've got my nice list of used Disney DVDs in great condition that I got at GameStop:

Snow White PE $16.99
Pinocchio GC $14.99
Fantasia 60AE $11.99
Alice in Wonderland ME $9.99
Peter Pan SE $12.99
Sleeping Beauty SE $12.99
Winnie the Pooh 25AE $12.99
Fox and the Hound GC $12.99
Oliver & Company SE $9.99
Beauty and the Beast PE $12.99
The Lion King PE $12.99
Mulan SE $9.99
Tarzan CE $12.99
Atlantis CE $7.99 (yep, you're reading that right)
Treasure Planet $7.99

The Lion King II SE $9.99
Dinosaur CE $7.99 (yep, this too)
Monsters Inc CE $12.99
Finding Nemo CE $12.99

Tron CE $10.99
The Rocketeer $6.99
D2 $6.99
D3 $6.99
Life-Size $6.99
Remember the Titans WS Theatrical $9.99
102 Dalmatians WS $6.99

GameStop doesn't use the $6.99 pricetag anymore. It goes from $5.99 to $9.99 to $12.99 to $14.99 to $19.99 to $24.99 to $29.99 to $39.99 and finally $49.99. Haven't seen any variation from these prices in the past year, so I think they're set on pricing DVDs at only those.

Comes at an advantage too, cause titles that don't sell well will get marked at $5.99 while the ratbastards don't realize just how much money they're losing. The Doctor Who's I mentioned earlier normally retail between $20-$35, so getting them at $3.33 is a steal!

I think I Might have saw that at a gamestop either that or an EB Games either in Effingham IL or Saint Louis MO. I passed on it though because I already have my own copy....

Although I would imagine that quite possibly Disney Might re-release
The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea movie sometime next year as the new movie The Little Mermaid III will brelease soon sometime next year also..

Good find, we don't have Gamestops in the UK but we do have Gamestation's so you just have to keep checking both website and store  I'm really hoping that they get a pre-owned Fantasia Collection in, according to the site it would be only £16.99

LOL so wish we had gamestops in Toronto! I found Snow White with the little mermaid colouring book cd in an EB Games store, but that was very rare.

My best finds were The Lion King 1 1/2 w/slipcover for $12.99 and Peter Pan Limited Issue for $12.99. I've also picked up Tarzan 2, Tarzan & Jane, Home on the Range, and An Extremely Goofy Movie for $12.99 or less.

Is GameStop picky about the condition of used DVDs they'll buy back? And, will they give you a refund if it doesn't work?
I'm always nervous about buying used DVDs. I got my husband a Tarzan video game from there and I don't know if he ever played it to see if it worked...I was just curious, seeing as how it seems they have good prices.

Depends on the store. Some are good and some not. Always check the DVD for scratches before you leave. They will do a refund though. I bought a Beauty and the Beast from them and got it home to find it was pretty trashed (discs scratched, case messed up, etc...). They took it back no problems.

We have one Gamestop that checks everything when it comes in. They even plug in consoles that you bring in for trade to make sure they work. The other one just scans the items and gives you the trade in credit. So it really depends on the store.

I got Snow White for $16.99 a little over a year ago at my GameStop, too! Mint condition, ALL inserts, no scratches!

Also, a couple weeks later, I went back, and found Beauty and the Beast for $12.99! It didn't have a slipcover, and no inserts, but I took the inserts from my PE VHS (I bought the '92 release, and then the '02 re-release before I had a DVD player). I was so excited!

Depends on the GameStop. Some will take anything, and it's evident by the condition of the cases alone. Some will refuse to take something for even the smallest of scratches. I once bought Tomb Raider: Cradle of Life at a GameStop, decided I didn't like the movie some months later, so tried to sell it at another, and they wouldn't take it.
blackcauldron85 wrote: And, will they give you a refund if it doesn't work?
There's a 30-day warranty where you get a full refund if something doesn't work. Never had the problem since I ask to inspect the DVDs themselves before I buy them.

The prices are good, but come at the caveat of knowing that it's used so it may not be in the best of condition.

I no longer sell DVDs to GameStop, and just buy (after thorough inspection of the discs).

Yeah, I don't sell DVDs/Video Games to GameStop. They're total rip-offs! LOL well anyways check out my Disney finds at GameStop:

Snow White PE $16.99
Beauty and the Beast PE $12.99
The Lion King PE $12.99
The Lion King 2 SE $9.99 **With Slipcase!**
Sleeping Beauty SE $14.99
Kronk's New Groove $9.99

Also, get this. This totally bites. A couple months ago, I went to GameStop, and saw a copy of "The Jungle Book" Limited Issue for $14.99. I was gonna buy it, but for some reason, did not, and I said to myself 'eh, I'll come back in a few days' (because at my GameStop their Disney movies don't sell a heck of a lot, and I waited to get Snow White, BatB, and SB, so I figured it'd be the same case as JB). So a couple days later I went back, and -- IT WAS GONE! I was very mad and was kicking myself! So the lesson here kiddies: WHEN YOU SEE A RARE DISNEY DVD USED--BUY IT AS SOON AS YOU SEE IT!

That definately has happened to me more than once. The first time, I saw a brand new Fantasia 60th Aniv. disk at my music store (that also happens to sell movies) for 29.99 (which would have been a steal, considering at the time, it was already long OOP, and it was authentic). But i'm not kicking myself for not buying that anymore...cause I now have it...since I bought the anthology used!! :P

Anyway, I also came across a used TENG:CE at the same music store for 26.99....and it looked like it was in good shape. I thought about it for a little bit, but I didn't have that much money with me on hand. (and my parents *dissaprove* of my Disney obsession...so I knew there would be no way that they would lend me $$). So, I go home, and about 2 hours later, I called the store to ask if they would place the DVD on hold for me, and it was GONE!!!!....and I'm still kicking myself hard about that. Right now, TENG:CE is one of the few Disney DVD's I still need that are currently "available" (as opposed to say, TJB, or Pinocchio...which I need, but I'm waiting for the PE's..TENG for example is available in the 2-disk CE, which is all I need for it)...Don't you HATE it when that happens!!!

I almost was gonna wait to get them but I figured if i didn't get them they'd be gone the next time. That always happens with me, When I found Snow White at FYE a few years back they had 2 brand new copies but i only got one and when i decided to come back a few days later to get the other one it was gone.
