I really appreciate and love the old school style (Snow White, Bambi, et cetera). But, actually, I do prefer the newer style. Not in all the newer films, but like...of the more modern ones: The Rescuers Down Under to current fare like Fantasia 2000, Lilo & Stitch, and Brother Bear. And those are my favorites overall, mostly.
But those four films aren't necessarily in cut-glass style...like Tarzan or New Groove or Atlantis...those four are softer, rounder. Maybe that's why they appeal to me...and Lilo, especially, is kind of retro in feel and look. So I really love the style those four films kind of had, as opposed to the other group of modern films (Tarzan, Atlantis, Treasure Planet), which I didn't much care for. If I'm making any sense...
New Groove was fine with me, but it was a comedy. I don't know. They (Tarzan, Atlantis, TP) were too...glossy, too slick. Angled. Sharper, while I like softer, warmer. I do agree that all (styles) have their ups and downs...and I do appreciate the middle school, as it were, style of the 60's and 70's, which was kind of sketchy and grainy, almost murkier. But I think that type of style is weaker than the others...
I love all of Disney's styles, I guess. Mostly.

How on earth can you decide?
I mean, this is like asking someone to choose between New Coke and Classic Coke....ummmm...bad example. It's like asking me to choose between The Andy Griffith Show and Seinfeld. Each has its own unique qualities that make it universally appealing and successful, no matter the age group.
I could never choose between the two schools...there is just somuch to love about each. I know it's a cop-out, but dammit that's the way it has to be. If you push me to choose I may have to start swingin'

I like the older disney movies better. I especially like that span disney had with beauty and the beast, aladdin and lion king coming out back to back. Does that count as older disney movies??
I don't like the newer disney movies like atlantis or treasure planet. They just don't seem to have that disney flair to them.

Well I personally consider Mermaid and Beauty/Beast and Aladdin, from a different era than that of Atlantis...
I've thouroughly enjoyed the last 3 movies: Lilo/stitch, TP, and BB and I think they have now a new style, with BB and LS, they are both very rounded animation, and boy am i looking forward to Home on the Range which looks to be more like the early 90's films, I'm hoping...
I still have to side with the newer movies.... sorry guys...

Personally, I like all Disney, but lately I have been watching the newer films, especially Pixar ones. The ones that hold a lot of spiritual signifcance tend to be the latter ones, such as Lion King and Nemo. I still haven't seen Brother Bear, but I am assuming that it deals with brotherhood and loving all (love your neighbor theme). Of couse, i love the old ones about fairy tales too....but the ones I can preach on in the pulpit are the most recent ones (the ones my congregation knows at the moment becasue they have taken their kids and grandkids). I can use illustrations about them all, but i like the newer at this point....
