Great job on all of the latest reviews, Luke, Aaron, and anyone else involved!

Excellent review of The Little Mermaid: Platinum Edition, Luke! I can't wait. In a little over an hour, I'll have my hands on it (and a cute little plushie, too)!

Luke, I'd like to say thank you for your critique on The Little Mermaid. I think the reason why Disney don't put much of their theme park stuff on the DVDs is because they don't want to lose customers; they may get it into their heads that people will buy XYZ a movie and see less reason to pop down to Disneyland as they can watch a ride-thru on a DVD that costs far less than a trip to Anaheim.

By the way, I notice on the front page that you've said that four interviews from people behind various Disney films and TV shows will be surfacing on the site soon. Are you allowed to reveal who these people will be? Or are you keeping it as a surprise?

Fantastic The Little Mermaid review, Luke! I completely agree with your assessment of the film. Once again, your Platinum Edition review has me very excited on release day and in a very TLM mood. Thanks for all the countless hours you undoubtedly crammed into the span of only a couple of days in order to bring us such a completely comprehensive review.

I haven't gotten my DVD yet and I won't be able to pick up my pre-order until late tonight. However, a few early thoughts on the DVD after reading the review:

*The knee edit = LAME  ... I'll get over it, though (maybe)

*The attraction ride-through = AWESOME :D ... I'm so excited for this ... I didn't realize it would be so complete. I wish this kind of thing would show up more often.

*All the bonus features sound great. Of course, I really wish the things mentioned in the review could have been included, as well as a featurette on "The Voyage of The Little Mermaid" and "Ariel's Grotto" and a featurette on the movie's controversies/urban legends (yeah right!)

*King Triton and Ursula as siblings?? That's great! Since my very first viewing, I've always wanted to know more about their connection. Can't wait to see that.

Thanks again for the great review!

Agreed - however, I think TLM2 probably negated any chance of this being retained as canon when they introduced Morgana instead. I do wonder if their will be touched on in the third movie. I hope so; such a thing would make it very worthwhile.

And, Luke - thank you for such a great review and for all the long time you put into it. Reading it helped to whet my appetitte as I am still waiting for Mom to get home from work with my copy. Keep up the good work.

Unless of course, they were half-siblings...

I agree with everyone here, the TLM review was fantastic!

Wow, that was a really great review Luke, I am so voting for it for the Best Review on the next Ultimate Disney Forum Awards. That was really informative, and now I want to watch it again, even though I watched it a few weeks ago (I kind of have a rule that I don't watch a movie twice within like three months). I loved all of the tidbits of info that I didn't know, and the screencaps with the captions- I didn't know that Jodi Benson looked like that at all. I always thought that she looked like Ariel,( ) and that she did the voice of Belle (they sounded so similiar!)
On another note, great news items today, what with this review, and the cover art of Peter Pan and Cinderella 3. I'm sure that it wasn't easy finding out all that info and the cover art of these two upcoming titles, so thank you very much Luke. And I'm also looking forward to the third Little Mermaid film and the upcoming TinkerBell film. Is The Little Mermaid 3 coming out in 2008, or could it be released sooner? And is the TinkerBell film going to be like Peter Pan 3 or is it just a little promotional device for the TinkerBell merchandise line?
Oh, and congrats to Aaron for the wonderful Twitches review. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and loved your thoughts on it. Looking forward to more oustanding reviews guys! Hoping that Greys Anatomy- Season 2 is a great review, because I'm loving watching it here in Australia (though I keep seeing McSteamy on Entertainment Tonight! We're going to have to wait until next year to watch it!). Though I know that the screencap issue is still there, so I won't mention it again- can someone please help Jake?! I'd help, but I have no clue what to do.

Hooray for another great UD review of an animated classic. Good job on TFATH:25thAE, Luke. I already assumed this release would disappoint, but not necessarily to this degree. The transfer had potential but it definitely doesn't look or sound like it's lived up to it. The gallery does sound nice, though, and I'm usually not one to get as excited for those. I think the very small improvements in the new release will lead me to upgrade (these are the pains of the crazed collector)... but I hate that I can't sell off my GC copy because the trailer hasn't been carried over (). Maybe I'll just give up on it.

Awesome reviews for The Fox and the Hound and The Little Mermaid. I don't think there's any reason to doubt why these reviews are events all on their own. These are by far the most informative, helpful reviews out there for Disney DVDs and some of the most enjoyable to read, period.

Great job to everyone envolved :!:

Excellent job on The Little Mermaid and The Fox and the Hound DVD Reviews, Luke. Both reviews are very informative and thorough. I was disappointed to learn of only small improvements to the Fox and the Hound. I had considered buying the Fox and the Hound before reading the review, but now I'll stick to my gold collection copy. Thanks Luke, you saved me money on that one.

Thanks for all the kind feedback appearing on this page, everyone! I really appreciate the time taken to share your thoughts on my thoughts. It certainly helps counter the countless hours that go into each one and make the review process less of a one-way street.

The first will be producer Don Hahn and should go up this week.

Aaron said he did an interview with Priscilla Weems from Five Mile Creek. So that's one of the four also.

Adding to the chorus, the reviews for The Little Mermaid and The Fox and the Hound are terrific! I was especially pleased with the discussion on the aspect ratio for F&H.

Loved your review for The Straight Story, Lukester! I do believe it's dancing elephant time...

:pink: :pink: :pink:

Just a quick note about the chapter stops (or lack thereof). The Elephant Man and Mulholland Drive don't have chapter stops either. I don't have Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, so I'm not sure if it has chapter stops or not, but the rest of his films do (Dune, Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart, and Lost Highway. All were likely the choice of the studios and not Lynch).

No problem.

I've been meaning to pick up the title for some time, even found it used for $9.99 once at GameStop, but have since never gotten around to getting it. Perhaps later when I'm not so strapped for cash...
