Jodi Benson recording Part of Your World footage?
Jodi Benson recording Part of Your World footage?
I was floored to see Jodi recording one of my all-time favorite Disney songs in the featurette on the new DVD, but I was sad that they just didn't include the whole thing. They talk about her emotion and how she really felt it, but yet, they didn't show us all but 10 seconds of it.
Does anyone know if it exists anywhere on the net? I checked youtube on the offchange.. but nada

Those are two of my big complaints about the extra features. Another is that they showed 2 seconds of a McDonald's commercial that should have been showed in its entirety. But, my biggest complaint was that there was not A BIG of the live-action reference footage of Sherri Stoner acting out scenes for Ariel! I had such a crush on her after seeing that footage as a kid during a behind the scenes special! I wanted that special, but would have been satisfied with the footage! Crushes aside, I find live-action reference material VERY interesting!

I absolutely love bonus footage like that, even with commentary explaining what was going on during those segments.
I really enjoyed "Treasures Untold" featurette - but honestly it seemed like 75% of it was more about Disney studios at the time of the movie. That in itself, is also important, as it shows how the studios were launched into the Renaissance at the time, but there seems to be very little about the movie, and making of itself.
As for the footage of Jodi singing on a beach, was that on a VHS, or a DVD? I have the limited issue, but it's not there.

That's what was so sad about that Jodi video. It was only on the VHS (which I no longer have, assuming it would be on a future DVD release). I have the first DVD too, but it's just bare bones. I'm only keeping it because it has the unedited version of the film (the minister's knee, ha).mikemgmve wrote:I absolutely love bonus footage like that, even with commentary explaining what was going on during those segments.

That's what disappointed me the most, too. I would've liked to have seen the live-action footage. Beauty and the Beast got a whole gallery devoted to the press release and footage behind promoting it, and I was kind of annoyed that neither Aladdin nor The Little Mermaid got it, either.slave2moonlight wrote:Those are two of my big complaints about the extra features. I don't know if Beauty and the Beast got the press release gallery because it got such high accolades and spawned the Broadway musical, but The Little Mermaid could've gotten more.

Gosh... I just adore Jodi, I love listening to her sing, and she's still got it, too. I think my favorite thing about Jodi is that you can tell she truly loves her role as Ariel, and that she loves every minute of it.
Oooh! I'm watching that again!
For the DVD, I was hoping for a Music & More section showing unused/alternate/deleted songs. Yeah, I know they had an alternate "Fathoms Below" and extended "Poor Unfortunate Souls" as deleted scenes and they put in "Silence Is Golden," but there are earlier versions of "Fathoms Below," "Under the Sea," "Part of That World," "Part of Your World" reprise, "Les Poissons," and "Happy Ending".
