I still can't believe October 3rd is so close! It seems like we were just complaining about how long we had to wait for this AMAZING movie to be released on DVD and now the days are slowly inching down. It creeped up on us fast!

I just saw the Kiss the Girl music video with Ashley Tisdale had restored scenes, and it looked really good! All the scuff and extra white marks are gone, and the color looks fantastic. They didn't brighten the characters or anything like the screenshots I posted. They kept the original lighting.

I can't wait to see that video with Ashley Tisdale actually. I was shocked when I saw the commercial for it on TV. It looked really good. My family told me not to buy anything for myself until after the holidays. There's no way I can wait three more months. No way.

Just go onto youtube for the Ashley Tisdale video or www.littlemermaiddvd.com might have it on the site by now too.

Another word on the restoration, which is really nice in my opinion. I watched several scenes in both the Platinum Edition and Limited Edition.

Here's what I think is a fact about this restoration. I think this is what the complain basically is when you hear and read people saying that the new transfer doesn't respect the original movie. Whether you like it or not, it seems like they accentuated the blue-ish colors for the scenes underwater and accentuated the more vivid living colors for the scenes out of the water. I personally like this effect and difference, I think the movie is only more real out of it, but some people don't like the changes.

As promised, here are some screen caps of the DVD from the scenes I've been comparing: the "Part of your World" scenes, 1 and 2. And just for fun, the gorgeous main menu :D :)

A special decoder? You need a dvd decoder (whether it be software or hardware) to play the dvd... and you can turn the subtitles on or off, so they are not burned-in the actual video of the movie. Don't know if that's what you are asking for?
Don't know what you are trying to ask with the Muppets thing either..

:)
No, I meant the little box for closed-captions. But Jordan already answered that. BTW Thanks Jordan!!!

I've got a few older editions of this title in my collection already, so I haven't really thought that much about this release - but this definitely looks good enough to buy.

Nice! Full resolution and png screencaps, thanks Jordan!

And I have to agree it looks pretty good, especially the underwater scene. Sharp, good colours and a bit of film grain; just the way I like it.

Not quite sure what the problem is on the colour on your TV - she was clearly brunette on my copy.

Just got my Little Mermaid today. Just about to go and watch it. I've had a quick flick through the discs and it looks awesome. Can't wait to view everything.

Thought the imagineering ride was cool, that would be so good at the Disney parks.

One would think that they kept (or added?) the grain on purpose..

If you had used your brain, you would have realized I was being sarcastic as to how bright and too pastel like the colors had turned. Gee.

sorry to be off topic here, but does anyone have some comparison shots of BATB? I knew the new transfer was overly compressed, but I don't think I heard that they brightened it. I want to see how much. are the colors really that much brighter?

OMG, I am SSOOO mad!

My local BJ's Whole Sale Clubstore had The Little Mermaid DVD already out. I was so TICKED lol. I wanted to get it but it had the snap cases and I hate those and I also already preordered it at the Disney store. So then I went back and they put stuff around it so no one can buy it lol. I guess they realized it comes out Oct. 3rd lol.

Ohh well, I will just wait it out! Oct. 3 is almost here. :)
