Ahoy!

Post by Matty »

Hi, hello, howdy, and Ahoy! in honor of the upcoming POTC 2 next month ;)

I just just about, oh *checks watch* Ten minutes ago and made my first post already. Mostly, I just wanted to introduce myself since I only discovered this forum yesterday and have no idea where to start in here. But just from reading a couple of topics in this place, I realized you're all as funny and nuts* as I am!

*No offense of course! I'm proud to be nutsy/crazy!

I'm from California, and as most of my forum memberships go I'm probably the oooooonly one. I've always loved Disney, as a child obviously, but even into my twenties now my passion has rarely subsided even despite some playful teasing other people make of me... Er... I still collect a lot of disney toys and display them in my room.... And I'm petite and short enough to fit into Disney Store kids clothing...
But anyway! I'm proud of my Disney obsession :) I love most princesses, Ariel in particular, and one of my biggest fantasies is being able to write music for Disney someday.
Er... okay, so right now my music REALLY isn't that great, but that's what dreams are for right??

I have what feels like multitudes of brothers and sisters who are 4 and under. Arrggh, one of which who is bothering me right now! So I'll go.

And btw, nooooo, Matty is not my real name.

Hi Matty and other new members! Welcome to Ultimate Disney Forums!! :D

I'm glad you found this board because it is certainly the place to discuss your love of Disney. As you can see, your post has been moved to the Just Wondering?/Disney Story thread where the majority of us and new members have introduced themselves and posted their connections/histories with Disney.

Make sure to post a picture of your Disney DVD/Disney collection here:

http://www.ultimatedisney.com/forum/vie ... sc&start=0

Also, as a newbie, I'm pretty sure you may have some topics in mind to discuss (like the definition of a Disney Princess, the Disney sequels, DVD slipcovers, etc.). Those and other topics have been brought up millions of times and it would be best to use the Search function (link between "Profile" and "Memberlist" at the top of the page) and post in an existing topic rather than a new one. Thank you and have a magical day!!

Hi everyone! Image

My name is Natalie, I'm in my early 20's and I'm from Argentina. I've always been a fan of the Disney animated movies and I grew up watching the old Disney Afternoon shows - my favourites are Darkwing Duck and DuckTales. Too bad Disney seems to have forgotten about them (except for the DVD releases, of course).

I've never been to Disneyland, but I've been to WDW twice - the last time was in 2000. We're planning to go back in late 2007 or early 2008, so I'm gonna have to wait for Expedition Everest and all the things I haven't seen. :(

Anyway, I'm glad I found this forum. :)

Well, I've been here a while, and I have to say that this forum is great! But I just saw this thread and thought it would be fun to share my story.

Well, I obviously loved Disney as a kid. Three words: The Lion King. I was 4 when it came out and it was the 1st movie I remember seeing in the theater. I LOVED it! For years everything was Lion King. And that, along with Toy Story and Hercules was my childhood, the Disney portion of it anyway.

Of course those weren't the only Disney movies I had or liked as a kid, they were just the main ones. I was born in 89 just in time for The Little Mermaid and even though I don't remember ever watching it I must have because I had all kinds of Little Mermaid stuff, it was even the theme of my 3rd birthday. Same goes for Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin: never watched them, but had plenty of stuff(heck, I even had the Beauty and the Beast tape and never watched it!). And over the years my preferences never changed, except for a brief 101 Dalmatians obsession when I was 7 and a not so brief A Goofy Movie obsession when I was  11. Plus there were more Disney movies I loved such as The Aristocats, Oliver and Company, and anything Winnie the Pooh.

Fast forward to this May. I started to want to see all of these movies that I'd never seen and I realized that there were plenty of Disney movies that I hadn't seen. So I borrowed The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Bambi, and Dumbo from my friend, and I dug up all the old tapes that I hadn't watched in years. I realized that I was truly missing out. I fell in love with all these old movies I thought I didn't like(well, except for Pocahontas, I didn't like it then and still don't like it). And now my tape collection is on display along with my DVDs. And I'm checking the TV Guide every day to find out when a Disney movie I haven't seen is coming on. I'm dying to see Sleeping Beauty, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Alice in Wonderland the most.

So now I'm hooked on Disney. I love it. I watch Disney movies all the time now. I actually beat my old Mickey World of Illusion and Little Mermaid Sega games instead of just playing them without trying. And I'm trying to build my Disney DVD collection. Right now all I have is Aladdin, The Incredibles, and Tuck Everlasting, and I got the latter two way before my sudden obsession. And I'm dying to go to Disney World! I've never been but now I have even more reason to.

So that's my story. Disney used to just be the people who made The Lion King or the channel I was begging my parents to get for me, now it's something I love. Well, that was cheesy, but I don't care cause it's true.

Although there was supposed to be a 10th anniversery DVD this year (Okay, there wasn't supposed to be one but there should have been), if you get Toon Disney you can see The Hunchback of Notre Dame tommorow and on Saturday. I still see Alice in Wonderland in stores a lot (Even though I still haven't bought it) so if you you want to see that you can probably find it on DVD. I think that it will be pretty hard traking down Sleeping Beauty but if you are willing to spend a little extra money you always have an option of searching on ebay, and I see that disneyguy is selling a new and a used copy on this very forum.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the info! I'd actually been looking forward to seeing Hunchback for the last two weeks but yesterday while watching The Black Cauldron the commercial for today's movie said that it was the second one. But I'm still going to watch to see if it was Toon Disney or TV Guide that made the mistake. And my Wal-Mart has Alice in Wonderland, but it's 20 bucks so I don't know when I'd be able to get it. And as for Sleeping Beauty, my dad hates buying stuff online for some reason. So I'll just hold out for Disney to play it one day.

Hi! I just got on, and I am totally excited. The people I associate with think I am weird for liking disney, but it is nice to know that there are others out there who appreciate it as well. I have loved disney stuff since I was little, and Lion King was my favorite forever. Once I started making my platinum edition collection, I don't think I have a favorite anymore because I like them all so much! I cant wait to have some fun discussions with you all about disney! Something we all like. :)

My Disney Story

Post by carrpentersboy1 »

I am Nick, I am 31 and live in London, UK but originally from South Africa. My first Disney memories are of watching the Wonderful World of Disney on Sunday afternoons. Also, the first Disney film I remeber seeing was The Rescuers on my birthday at the drive-in. It was also one of the last drive-in movies shown in South Africa as the place was demolished and houses were put up.

I began collecting VHS Disney films once I began working in 1993, but once I move to the UK, I began collecting DVDs. I now have all the commercially available UK DVD releases, including Snow White Collector's edition & Beauty and the Beast collectors edition. I can't wait for the Little Mermaid in November. My favourites are BATB, Hercules and the Little Mermaid. I also have all the Treasures from the US and have started collecting the TV DVD releases of Ducktales, Tailspin, Darkwing Duck, Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers etc. If Disney knows what's good for them, they will release the Gummi Bears on DVD soon as this will be my most anticipated release.

As far as the classics that aren't available, I still want Fantasia, Pinnochio, Jungle Book, 101 Dalmations, Sleeping Beauty, Fox and the Hound, Fantasia 2000 - I have all the others. I also want to see the Song of the South, as I have never seen that.

I wnet to EuroDisney in Paris for my 30th birthday and want to go to the Florida and California parks before I am 40.

Basically I love Disney.

Hi there! My name is Rebecca. I live here in the USA. I'm 28 years old, married and have a one year old son. All I can really say is that I've loved cartoons all my life. I'll try to elaborate.

As far as the Disney movies go, I like all the "classics", Sword in the Stone, Sleeping Beauty, Winnie the Pooh and whatnot. Also some of the newer ones like, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Lion King and Hercules. I own the Disney movies on VHS and as they become available on DVD, I buy them too. I will have the Little Mermaid on DVD oh yes I will. :D Right now, I'm running out of room to put my collection.

As for Disney TV shows it's Darkwing Duck all the way! DW was/is Jim Cummings best role! I just about cried with joy when I saw the box set in stores. That made my day, month, year, life and so on. The crazy thing about my love for the show is I actually celebrated "Darkwing Duck Day" every year (thanks to Disney Adventure Magazine). I wore the DW colors - Teal turtle neck (with a Purple sweater), Purple skirt and Gray head wrap. Keep in mind I was in high school at the time so people made fun of me. Oh well. They just had no appreciation for good cartoons and obsessions. . .

I love the classic "The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" on DVD. I show it to my son and he wiggles and dances to the music. He's also watched Hercules and Aladdin with me. Though they were more like in the background. He's too young to sit and watch, but when the music starts he dances. I can't wait until he's a little older and can really appreciate the movies and understand them.

I'm so happy I decided to pop in here and check these forums out.
