Pal Mickey

Post by danamichelle »

I have heard Disney is selling a new Pal Mickey at MGM. This one is dressed in the Sorcerer outfit. Does anyone here know how much this new Mickey cost?

Probably the same as the regular one: the $40 or $50 range. Can't quite remember. I think, too, that there was one with Mickey in his tux (like the one that does meet-n-greets).

I never bothered getting Pal Mickey, cause as cute as it would be to have an interactive stuffed animal play a game with me or just say "Wow, that's a fun ride! And the wait is only 30 minutes!", it'd be a hassle to lug around, which is probably why I've seen many a Pal Mickey at Property Control (castmember store for lost-guest-items-that-aren't-returned/recovered-after-a-certain-amount-of-time along with damaged products).

I have the original Pal Mickey and the Happiest Celebration on Earth Pal Mickey (the one in the Tux). I would love to have the new Sorcerer one as well. My parents are going next week and I was going to have them pick one up for me.

They aren't too bad to carry around. We usually bring a bookbag and a camera bag. I only take one to the parks and I strap him to my camera bag. When I don't want to carry him anymore or he starts to annoy me (particularly in the Animal Kingdom) he moves to the bookbag. I can see how young people would loose him easily though.

Ooh, they're going next week? Tell them that if they stop by the Adventureland Nut Wagon and see that it's Anne Marie or Renee or Jessica working there (though Renee may be wearing a Francile name tag), that Albert says hi!

Yeah, I've seen a lot of variations as to how to carry them around, but younger kids almost always are content enough with just carrying it around like a regular stuffed animal, then later in the day, the weight starts getting to them (it's not a lot, but for a kid, an animal with an electronic box inside is like carrying a brick in padding), and they drag it, or ask their parents to carry it. Sometimes I see guests hastily put it in the bag, but have it so Mickey's head is sticking out ("so he can breathe!" the little kids say), then some other force knocks it out and he's lost forever.

What they need is a miniMickey that does the same thing but has the same cuddle factor (hehe, new phrase, "cuddle factor"). Like a beanie-baby sized one.

During my recent trip to Disney World, just got back to Minnesota last night, we picked up the new Pal Mickey for a whooping $65. Thankfully, my mom's new husband bought it for my daughter. My daughter gleefully played with it for about 1/2 a day and then grew bored with it (she is only three) so it ended up in our bag or in the bottom of the stroller. It looks really nice though. She liked her big stuffed Figment much better.

Thanks for the picture Loomis.

I can't wait to get mine. I love the Pal Mickey's. If they keep releasing new ones it is going to get very expensive for me.

Just out of curiosity, do the old ones become incompatible? Or could you still use the existing Pal Mickey if you have been for a year or so?

The original one still works in the park. I am not sure if you get as much information from him or not because I have not tried to take them both in the park at the same time. I would assume they all get the same information from the park because they are all receiving information from the same sensors. All I know for sure is that the original one will not sing.

That could be a blessing in disguise.
