I agree 100%. I mean, how many CG musicals have you seen? probably none, because as far as i know, they havn't existed yet.

I've seen one and heard of some other. The Nuttiest Nutcracker and I think the story of Jonah and the Whale by the people who do Veggie Tales were musicals, or at least had one song in which they sing. The obvious one you may have just forgotten because Animation fans seem to is Barbie's Princess and the Pauper in which little girls "hear Barbie sing for the first time" (yeah right, what happened to rock star Barbie in the '80s).

Though you're right about Disney not having any CG musicals yet.

I missed this news or at least the official announcement of this news, too, so thank you, Julian Carter! I'm glad Disney is reverting back to its roots as they have in the past. Hopefully with this, Enchanted, and The Frog Princess we'll see the start of another grand/attempted grand age of Disney Animation.

Would it be unreasonable to possibly get a surprise sneak peak of Rapunzel on TLM PE?

So now that there going back to the original story they better include the part when the prince strches his eyes on thorns and loses his sight then rapunzels tears bring his vision back, because that is like the best fairytale moment ever!!

Wow. I completely forgot about that part of the story. That would create for a good suspensful climax, but I think the whole eyes scratched out idea is too dark for a Disney film. When you look at other Disney fairy tales, lots of gruesome stuff was eliminated. Such as the stepsister cutting off her toes to make the glass slipper fit in "Cinderella." In the originaly story of "The Little Mermaid," the sea witch originally cut out Ariel's vocal choards. Disney found a way to do it without the gore. I think Disney should deffinatley have the prince go blind and have Rapunzel's tears bring back his vision, but maybe come up with a new way for him to become blind, such as the witch who locked her in the tower in the first place casting a spell on him... I'm getting goosebumps at the thought of a witch being part of another Disney film. I hope we see some concept art for her soon. With how great this movie seems to me in light of this news, I'm anticipating a strong villian destined to be on every Disney Villians coffe mug created from now on!

In the original story of "The Little Mermaid," the sea witch originally cut out Ariel's vocal choards. Disney found a way to do it without the gore.

You also forget that the original Little Mermaid turns into sea foam at the end of the story while her prince goes off and marries someone else.

I don't believe I heard that version, Pinktrnata. Very interesting and tragic. How odd would it be if that is the ending to "The Little Mermaid 3?" Ariel could also end up part of a sushi roll or something... Just kidding. I don't want that kind of ending. To tell you the truth, I don't want a "The Little Mermaid 3" with it's horrible false advertising and the fact that I've still got a bad taste in my mouth from the second.

Wow, this film's gonna be amazing. Just look at that artwork! This will be the first time in a very long time I'm actually looking forward to a Disney movie. The only drawback is, that we have to wait for three years .

I'm up for some interpretation when they are done right,but in repuzels cases, Disney should just stick to the root of the story. I don't the frist premise would have word well, it just didn't fit. But I'm glad disney sticking with the heart of the story,it just has been awhile since disney came with so romance and the fairy tale genre. A good story should not be ruined. Hopefully everthing will turn out right.

Wow, thank you! I didn't know I wwas missed so much! But yeah...college is hard so I'll only pop in occasionally. I'm here right now b/c it's a Thursday and I don't like the concept of "Thirsty Thursday" (the night everyone goes drinking) and I am being really lazy and not doing my truckloads of HW so yeah here I am! YAY ULTIMATE DISNEY!

I do lurk though and read topics. If I really want to say something I'll log in and post then the one post turns into 17 and my evening of "checking UD news then doing hw" is gone .

p.s. Speaking of Rapunzel, I tried to get discounted student tickets to Wicked with my sister, Jane Mccoy, and we came an hour early to the sale and we should've went earlier b/c some ppl came at 5 AM (sale at 11 PM) and they're crazy, but I guess it was worth it. The sad part is that people in line got out of line b/c there wouldn't be enough tickets for their whole group so they put themselves on the waiting list so then we got really close to getting actual tickets and the girl in front of us got the last two and me and Jane were cut off and were the next ppl on the waiting list . Oh and in case you don't see the connection...Rapunzel has singing voice of Kristen Chenoweth (sp?) who was in the original cast of Wicked which is the Broadway show we tried to get tickets for. Okay that's my rant, I'm done!

Wow! That's incredible. She has such a great voice! I saw "Wicked" in Chicago last November with Ana Gastyer and it was incredible! Kristen Chenowith has been wonderful in all the movies I've seen her in (Disney's "Annie," Disney's "The Music Man," "Bewitched," and "RV"). My only problem is that her speaking voice is a bit on the nasal side, but I guess that gives it character, and she's such a good actress that she will probably not speak like herself in the role of Rapunzel. I sure hope the music is amazing to complement her great voice!

so, i'm getting very excited for this film. I actually had a dream last night that i saw the trailor in a theater. i don't even think i remember what movie i was in the theater to see, but i remember watching the trailor and freaking out. Then the dream ended from what i remember. weird how something you're excited to see will do that to you.

btw, i also saw wicked a few weeks ago in chicago and it blew me away. i don't go a day without listening to something from it. I'm so excited about the voice talent for this!!!
