Norwegian The Little Mermaid cover

Post by glenn »

Well, it seems like the little mermaid will only be a 1-disc edition in here in Norway (and probably the rest of Scandinavia), like all Disney DVD's released here the last years. This is really sad, since this is my favorite Disney movie and I was looking forward to all the extras. We are also getting a different cover:

I don't like how Ursula is in the middle of Eric and Triton, and that the three of them look like they're friends. They are also way to tiny! But I do like Ariel on the cover. What do you think?

I feel sorry for you... I can't imagine how mad I would be if Holland wouldn't have a 2-disc edition. Maybe you can import the DVD? Or is the Norwegian dubbing important? The Dutch one is important for me, cause it's the best Dutch dubbing ever. But with other movies I don't mind.
Disney's musical Tarzan. Coming to Holland 2007.

I'm thinking of buying two editions of this movie. The Norwegian 1-disc edition and the UK edition for the bonus material.

I like to have all my animated movies with Norwegian voices, even though I usually only listen to the original language. Also, it would look sillyif I didn't have the number...

I'm going to buy both the US edition (maybe the japanese edition, because of the beautiful cover) and the Norwegian edition for this one. The originale plan was to buy the gift-set, but sadly that's not comming. The reason I'm buing both editions is the brilliant Norwegian dubbing of this movie (Sissel Kyrkjebø and Helge Jordal!), and the classics number on the spine. The number on the spine is a real sales trick from Disney, but now that I've have started collecting them I can't stop. :)

And that's the reason why I DIDN'T start collecting them :D
Mostly because some of the numbered editions are inferior to the special editions that are getting released, and I like to have the original title on my DVD covers. Sure, a Swedish dub and subtitles might be nice for others in my vicinity, but in the end I buy the DVD's for myself, not for others...

Triton's hand looks huge! Especially when compared to Eric's.

In Germany we get the same DVD, too. Buena Vista Germany told that all extras from the 2-Disc-Special Edition are included although it's just one DVD. I don't believe it because we have more audio tracks than the Original (german, english, turkish, austrian and probably the commentary) and the Snow White DVD which was here a single disc, was shorted, too.

EDIT: It's a shame that "The little mermaid" will be released in denmark on just one DVD. Kind of ironical- in the same way Snow White was in Germany just on one DVD released.

Here's a question for you, 271286: Sissel Kyrkjebø is Ariel's singing voice on the Danish soundtrack, while Marie Ingerslev is her speaking voice. But has it been like that from the start? I've been told that Sissel was originally Ariel's only voice, but the Danes rejected her Norwegian accent, so the current soundtrack is a re-make from 1998. Is that true?

Not all the extras are on the German DVD and the commentary ceertainly won't be on it. I asked BV, and they said it was not.
But if you want to have more infos on the German DVD, Scamander, go to cinefacts.de

But I expect you not to buy it, because the first German dubbing with Ute Lemper is not included.

I'll import the USA Edition with two discs. :D

Hi, Sorry for the late response... No Marie Ingerslev has always been the speaking voice for Ariel i the danish version... Unlike many european countries denmark only has one version of the film... So it's the original voices on the DVD too... I'm happy the soundtrack wasnt re-recorded, even though Sissel sings funny danish, it would be a sin to re-record it... her version is very nostalgic... It's also kind of cool that she provides the singing voice for all tree scaninavian versions... It kinda unites the countries...

Here in Hong Kong, The Little Mermaid: Platinum Edition is also just single-disc, so I'm digging the US R1 version. I already have the Limited Issue DVD with the Cantonese dub anyway.

Me too, I like Ariel's pose. The cover here looks a lot "cleaner" than the US edition =]
