Walt Disney Treasures future want

Post by jebsdad »

I imagine my wish for a future Walt Disney Treasured DVD set release is rather esoteric, but I would love a collection of all of Walt Disney's intros, comments, and concluding remarks from the Disney TV anthology shows he hosted 1954-1967.

Unfortunately, I don't feel this would be popular enough to make it marketable for Disney to release it.

I would rather like season by season box sets of the complete shows.

Where to begin? I would like to see...

True-Life Adventures
Song of the South
Zorro - Season 1
Zorro - Season 2
Zorro - anthology episodes
Texas John Slaughter
Swamp Fox
Elfego Baca
Scarecrow of Romney Marsh
Silly Symphonies - Vol. 2
Mickey Mouse in B&W - Vol. 2

Obviously, some of these would have to be more than 2-disc sets.

Along with the general givens such as Zorro and Song of the South, I know I would really like to see a collection of Disney's advertising campaigns released. Commercials, trailers, and galleries from Disney movie classics (since most are obviously not being included in the newer DVD packages), theme parks, television shows, and just general self promotion might be very interesting.

As long as they include those "Magic Happens" (right?) commericals of the late 1990's. Those were so great and I want a collection of those to own and watch at leisure.

I also would love a boxed set of volumes of all the Disney anthology TV shows, especially the Walt Disney years, in order of their release. I have seen most of these and there are some real Treasures among them.

However, I don't think they would fit that well in the Walt Disney Treasures DVD sets format. At about 50 minutes per show, each 2 DVD set would only contain about 6 shows. There were 336 shows by my count (not counting repeats) during the 1954-1967 Walt Disney hosted years alone. If Disney tried to do this in the Walt Disney Treasures DVD sets format and even released one set every year, it would take 56 YEARS for them all to be released!!!

Boxed sets for each year (along the lines of the Star Trek TNG format) would be great with an average of 26 shows per year (varies from 21 shows to 30 shows in a year). Such sets would definitely be among my favorite DVD collections.

13 years of boxed sets - the mind boggles. Unfortunately, I don't have much hope that it will ever happen.

Good list Zorro!! I agree with that list.

I would also like to see Walt intro and sort. Especially the Season by Season of Disneyland TV Show.

I know that there's more than just me who wants a special Christmas Treasure. I think it could have a featurette looking at all the special merchandise, a look at Christmas in the Parks...
