It's just a rumor as of now but this May Fox will release the frist season of Boston Legal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
File this one under "rumor" for right now, but we're fairly certain that the first season of David E. Kelley's legal drama, <I>Boston Legal</I> will be heading to DVD in May. Fox hasn't announced it yet, so it could move, but we're fairly certain that an announcement will be made soon.
<I>Boston Legal</I> was spun-off from <I>The Practice</I>, David E. Kelley's legal drama that ran for 8 seasons, and won 3 Golden Globes, and 15 Emmy Awards. Alan Shore (James Spader) was a character on <I>The Practice</I> before moving over to <I>Boston Legal</I>. The series aired 17 episodes in its first season, and the second season is currently airing.
This will be the first David E Kelley show from the studio, but Fox has plans to release many more in the next year or two. See our separate news item about that.
I haven't gotten around to seeing "Boston Legal," but I did love "The Practice." Even more, I loved "Boston Public." I'm thrilled at the news that these are all (most likely) coming to DVD. Yay! I probably won't look into "Boston Legal" until I've got all the "Practice" sets on down the road.
I watch the show sometimes. The show is just a litle too crazy for me. Was funny too when the show was nominated in the comedy categories at the SAG's. I liked The Practice better.
The first half of the season was rather clunky, it didn't really get its footing until Candice Bergen joined. Can't wait for Season Two to come out (of course, we have to finish Season Two, what with it still being on righ tnow).

It's been awhile since we posted the news of <I>Boston Legal: Season 1</I> was coming on <B>May 23</B>, and now Fox has released artwork for the set. The set sells for $49.95, but <A HREF="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... Amazon.com is preselling it for $34.99</A>.
Love that cover art. Shatner's got such a smug "I'm Denny Crane!" look on him.
BTW, anyone notice the trend that they seem to dump lesser characters on the show midseason? The first season they dumped Lake Bell (thank god), and by the end of the season, got rid of the other two (Monica Potter and Rhona Mitra). This midseason, they dumped Justin Mentell and Ryan Michelle Bathe. Which is a pity because I actuall liked seeing those two onscreen during whatever little time they were given in an episode, if they appeared in the episode at all.
Right now they've got a pretty good cast, I especially love Julie Bowen's character (name escapes me). And it's nice to see Mark Valley actually being used these days...

Well the disc is coming out five days and for you fans of the show that frist gave us Crane and Shore (in the last season anyway) there will be a bouns disc with four episodes from 'The Practice' at US Best Buys.
The cover art for season two is up at http://www.dvdactive.com/news/releases/ ... legal.html . I love the Balcony Scenes so this cover is lovely. The buildings also are quite pretty. I'm very happy with it (even if they usually face the buildings and not the doors from the Office/Balcony).

Woohoo! I loved the second season so much more than the first (which I still gotta buy on DVD).
BL wasn't on tonight (Men in Trees was, and it didn't look too good), so I watched SVU, which was pretty good. It'll be hard once both are on at 10 with new eps and I gotta decide which to watch live and which to tape...

Of all of the David E. Kelley shows Boston Legal is my fave, though I did like The Practice and I wouldn't say no to Boston Public. I've never seen Chicago Hope or Picket Fences, but I've heard that Chicago Hope is fantastic and I'm sure that Picket Fences is good, so I'd like to see them. I don't know if Ally McBeal is David E. Kelley, but I'd like to see that on DVD, hopefully with all of the original music restored. Does anyone know if the Seasons 1-5 R2 releases of Ally McBeal have the original music intact?
-James
If we're adding to David E. Kelley shows not on DVD, where's my Chicago Hope and Picket Fences as well???
Wow, I had forgotten all about Chicago Hope, but I am with you on Picket Fences. C'mon TV on DVD, let's get both of these shows out ASAP!!!
By the way, loved "The Practice", have almost all of the episodes on VHS that I have transferred to DVD+RW, can't stand "Boston Legal" because of James Spader. He ruined "The Practice" and doesn't sit well with me as an actor. I know he won those Emmys, but look who he was up against - no one special.
The only way to watch movies - Original Aspect Ratio!!!!
I LOVE my Blu-Ray Disc Player!

Hehe, yeah, Spader is one of those love'em or hate'em actors. I actually hated him on "The Practice" as well because it was like he was stealing the show from everyone else. On "Boston Legal" he's still prominent, but I feel it's more ensemble-feeling on BL than when he was on The Practice.

After tonight's episode ... I just had to start this thread ...
#1 -- Wow! I love the addition of Craig Bierko and Constance Zimmer ... They bring a fresh new feeling to the series ...
#2 -- Whoa! I just can't believe this trial ... a female judge is murdered ... everything is pointing to her young lover ... but wow! When we found out the truth ... that the lover's mother did it ... and they are both in love ... and made out for us to see! WOW! I sooooo am loving Katey Segal!
#3 -- Bethanny Horowitz ... Denny's new love interest ... the diminutive kick-ass lawyer that is so adorable to see on screen ... I think she is a great new addition to the show ...
Gosh ... this first trial was spilled over the first few episodes and the suspense hit a boiling point tonight ...
Oh and I must say ... that "peepy" guy completely freaks me out ...
Switched frequently between BL and some Joan Rivers stand-up routine on Bravo. It was definitely an interesting episode (BL), though I don't care for Sally being back, even if only for a couple episodes. Don't know why, but I already suspected something was going on between them, so it was no surprise for me at the end, but still...I was so *creeped out* when they were making out.
Wanna see more of Katey Sagal on TV, dammit!
