Disney voices in other countries
Disney voices in other countries
I have noticed that in my country (Belgium), Disney doesn't care anymore if the voice of their disney characters are almost the same as the english voice. This was different in "The Lion King" and other Disney classics. In TLK Pumbaa sounds like Pumbaa in all countries in the world. But now I have seen a trailer of Finding Nemo and the the voice of Dory and the other characters really stink! In Brother Bear, Kenai is voiced by a kid, and if I remember correctly in english the voice is rather adult-like. The voices in Disney characters play a big role I think, so why would they not care? Typical

I saw the belgium Trailer for Brother Bear.... it was terrible... not as bad as the dutch though, since I'm from Holland. But I havent cared for the dutch voices in ages, they're getting worse with every movie...Jens wrote:In Brother Bear, Kenai is voiced by a kid, and if I remember correctly in english the voice is rather adult-like. I watched Lilo and Stitch in French. The French voice actors do sound like their English counterparts. The French voices for the Lion King are good too. My only complaint is that Sarabi's voice is a little too high.
That reminds me... I need to watch Lilo and Stitch en Español.
I'm sorry to hear that the Belgium voices for Brother Bear are terrible.
I wonder if the French voices for Brother Bear (Frère des ours / Mon frère l'ours) will sound bad too.

I also don't watch dutch disney movies. I mean, it's great that we have the DVD. In the past you could only buy dutch or flemish videos here and almost no english ones. Now with the DVD you can choose english too, and I love it
Since I got older, I noticed the mouth of the characters are not saying what they are actually saying (you get it?). I know this is like a "duh" question but as a kid I really didn't notice this. It's REALLY annoying. Maybe this should actually be in the international DVD section. But this isn't specificly about a DVD , you know
Norway
I don't care too much for the average Norwegian voices in Disney movies. But the voices on "The Lion King" was very good. And the work on "The Emperor's New Groove" was great. They even managed to adapt the humour to fit the Norwegian language and 'humour style'.

Mexico make the dubbing for the whole LatinAmerica (an Spain before little mermaid), the voices are always quite good, some of them better than the originals, Walt Disney said that personally cause the guy who was in charge for the dubbing was also his friend (Edmundo Santos) so yes, we have great Disney voices for Latinamerica, even now.
But there are some new dubbings for sleeping beauty, cinderella, lady and the tramp and snowwhite that are not as good as the old ones, but generally all spanish dubbings are really good, Actually I like Dory's voice better than Ellen Degeneres.
As for Brohter Bear, spanish voices are very similar to the originals.

I don't much care for dubbed films, but I must confess that Disney here in Brazil usually does a great job in these films. Unfortunately, nowadays distributors here have been chosen famous actors to voice animated films ($$$) and since most of them aren't professional "dubbers" (hmm, voice actors), the results aren't always positive ("Dinossaur", for example, had terrible voices... "New Groove", otherwise", had a voice cast as good as the original version, and the results were quite good!).

I have watched many disney classics in Thai and I have to say that they do a pretty good job finding someone that somewhat sounds like the the voices in English. I have the thai version of Aladdin and I've been watching that to tide me over until the platinum edition comes out and I have to say the voices are great
Iago's quite funny just because it was interesting to see someone try and mimic Gilbert's voice
Aladdin is THE best disney cartoon!

A Question
Who did Hook's voice in Return To Neverland in the Spanish version? It sounds a lot like Capulina, but I'm not sure...
Re: A Question
It was "el loco" Valdez, a mexican comediant, brother of "TinTan", another famous comediant, spanish voice of Baloo.herman_the_german wrote:Who did Hook's voice in Return To Neverland in the Spanish version? It sounds a lot like Capulina, but I'm not sure...
