Harsh much Sequel? I do agree with you to some extent, but the poor man had a family-- a beautiful wife & two children. It's not like he ever did anything to offend you; call you a "stupid idiot" or something.

But, I mean it is your opinion and what not and I can't change that.

Aw, come on man. Steven Irwin was a very smart guy and his goal in life was to help save and find out more about animals! He knew he was putting himself in danger when wrestling crocodiles, crawling into rattle snake dens, etc. But he was so passionate about what he did that he didn't care about the risk. From what I've seen on TV, he seems to be a very nice guy who cares a lot about his family and saving animals.

REST IN PEACE!

P.S.
Swimming with sting rays isn't "idiotic." People have been known to play with sting rays, just like they do with dolphins. Fatal injuries by sting rays are a very rare occurrance.

I can't believe it, Steve irwin is dead! My dad told me this morning that he had died, it's so sad, at least he died doing what he loved.

It's not stupid, Steve's death has affected many people who never knew him, I have been upset all day over he's death

he was a great man & a great tv presenter, I love his shows & I have always thought it would be so cool to have a job like his. I wanted to go see him at Australia zoo when I'm a little older, but that is no longer a possibility.

He was killed by a "Bull Ray" sting ray. Have you guys actually seen that thing? not being funny, it is the size of my entire family room. It's HUGE!

You know, to an extent, I thought he was pretty stupid when it came to things like wrestling crocodiles. But that was just plain bad luck. Does not sound like he was doing anything that stupid. I have skimmed the surface in hawaii like that. You just cant see those suckers, and they react defensively when you get too close.

Not to be mean or morbid, but I alway's thought he would be done in by a croc. It's sorta weird, that out of all things, a stingray killed him. It's definitely not an appropriate thing to say , especially at this time of grief & mourning, but it's been on my mind since I heard the news.

I don't think it was just risk taking for the sake of it that he was interested in, though. He wanted to make animal studies interesting and get people excited about these creatures by getting up close looks at them. He must have known there were risk, but he had a passion that he wanted to share, and he did.

That is like saying a soldier, cop or firefighter who dies doing his jpb is idiotic. Every day Steve put himself in danger, not for the fun of it, but for the education. Yes, he took risks. But he got people's attentions. Look at Jack Hanna, he doesn't really go into the field much. More of a guest on every talk show, and how many people actually pay attention to his lectures? They are too busy watching the monkey crap on Jay Leno's desk. And Jack rarely gets a word in edgewise. While Steve, had several different shows and specials running all into eachother, everywhere, and people heard him. They heard his talks about the animals. They remembered it. I can't count how many times someone talks to me about some animal without Croc Hunter being mentioned. No other personality has touched as many lives as he has when it comes to the animal field.
Saying he shouldn't have done what he done...that in itself is a travesty. He has inspired millions of people. He died doing what he loved. How many people can go to work and say they love what they do? There was always an element of danger. But there are in many other jobs. He was a hero for the animals. He inspired so many people. Myself and my daughter. That's why his death has hit so close for us. To say he was an idiot and IMO, you make it sound like he deserved it, is ignorant and callous

Othertimes, you'll just say plain mean things like what you said here, or about Hayley Mills' age.

As you can see, I'm shocked by and saddened Irwin's death. Whilst there is no denial that he was eccentric and a bit controversial (on a side note, wasn't he not actually beloved in Australia as he was a bit of an Aussie stereotype who wae popular?), he was equally a good natural scientist on the whole, and brought education and entertainment together. I have to say that I hope his family cope with this death, as it must be hard, considering how sudden and unexpected it was, and especially since his children will have to face bereavement.

I'm sorry that even if I don't type much, that whatever I say can't contribute to anything. I HAVE never seen Tron, AND it looks interesting to me. That's all I really need to say. I can't elaborate 14 paragraphs on how the movie looks interesting, and that I've never seen it. I can say it in one simple sentence. The prime minister has offered to have Steve get a state funeral. It may seem like a lot for one man who had little political standing, but because of his G'Day LA ads, Australia tourisim skyrocketed, and that was good for their economy. Plus, many of the educational programs he was a part of, he did 100% free. If you look at his home life, he never lived extravegently. He had a nice house, but the biggest change you saw when he really started making money with his shows are in his zoo. The zoo was very small when he was a child. When he became famous, he put most of the money he earned into it. How many Croc Hunter shows had him and his crew moving some animal into a larger enclosure? Dozens. It was always about giving the animals more. He often donated his services to help save crocs in other parts of the world from being killed as well.

*sighs* Why do I keep punishing myself by reading the newest reports on it?

I assumed he knew he was going to die, but it was quick. Apparently, after he was stung, he pulled the barb out of his chest before he lost conciousness. I just hope it was fast and painless as possible for him.
