Well I wish I could adopt your stance but it would gnaw away in my head. Thankfully I can use the excuse that I haven't seen it yet and it comes out the week of my daughter's birthday as an excuse for buying it. It can't be that bad surely?Andy wrote:Ah, i forgot about Brother Bear 2.
Just out of interest whos going to buy The Wild just because its been added to the "classics" collection. Im certainly not, im just going to pretend it never exsisted....then i wont feel theres a gap in the collection.

Yes I saw the trailer which is why I never bothered going to see itAndy wrote: Did you see the trailer?![]()
I think I was put off by the fact that they used Eddie Izzard to voice the Koala bear. Don't get me wrong I like Eddie Izzard and I hear he's quite funny in it but who in their right mind would cast a koala as anything other than Australian? It simply demonstrates the lack of thought that goes into some movies.
You're right about Valiant. What a waste of voice talent. Although to be fair I don't think any of the other computer animated films can touch the pixar films. Shark's Tale, Madagascar, Antz, Ice Age, Robots, Over the Hedge - some awful films in there. Even the better ones are just a pale imitation; They just haven't got "it", whatever "it" is. I just cannot understand why they do such big business at the box office. Maybe people go in hope that they will see something as good as a pixar movie but I can honestly say I've yet to see something that's even come close.

Of course we will get them!Frozone wrote:Does anyone have any idea if we're going to get the remastered versions of Dumbo and Robin Hood which are getting released in the US, or will we have to import?
The question is when?
Considering the two current UK versions of these 2 titles are still in print, I wouldn't see it happening for at least the next 6 months.
Just testing......ichabod wrote:When Pixar movies are released in the UK in Autumn/Winter then the DVD comes out at the start of the year, but considering Cars was released in the Summer...Andy wrote:Arent pixar movies normally released around Feb time in the UK though? Or am i just being foolish?

It looks like R2 is yet again benefitting from a better transfer. I've always felt the Region 1 DVD was somewhat lacking even though it was anamorphic widescreen.ichabod wrote:OK Seriously now, the UK DVD of 'Those Calloways' must have been restored. There's no way a 40 year old movie could look this good without it having had somehing done to it.

It really did take my breath away, it is so clear and crisp, the colours are so vibrant. Luke mentions in his R1 review that some shots are riddled with artefacts, on the UK DVD I soptted about 4 specs of dust in the entire movie. Luke also mentions that you can see the reel change marks on the R1 DVD, well they aren't on the UK DVD. I swear if you didn't know it was made 40 years ago or didn't know most of the cast had passed away, you would swear it had been made in the past 10 years.Poppins#1 wrote:It looks like R2 is yet again benefitting from a better transfer. Compare Luke's screencap to my region 1 screencap. The colors on mine are slightly richer but still not nearly as nice as your region 2 screencap. We have to keep in mind the screencaps can have variations due to software and are generally not a perfect compass to judge what is truly on the DVD.

Well naturally, and then there's always the fact that PAL is superior to NTSC.Poppins#1 wrote:Compare Luke's screencap to my region 1 screencap. But the fact that Luke's review mentions artefacts and reel change marks which don't appear on the R2 DVD, does suggest it is a completely different print.

Amazon.UK finally dropped the price of "Moon-Spinners" to £5.97. I ordered it along with "The Incredible Journey" (£6.97). But strangely enough when I checked out, items in my basket were actually cheaper (£5.08 and £5.97) This happened last time i ordered from Amazon.UK as well.
Ichabod, please check back with us if you ever find out whether the new "Greyfriars Bobby" DVD is in widescreen or not.
