interesting "Goooooogle" ads

Post by Fflewduur »

Now, I don't mean to be causing trouble...

but considering all the discussion this forum hosts on bootleg DVDs and legitimate releases---and particularly about whether or not we will see a legitimate release of "Song of the South"---I thought it was quite interesting that upon visiting the forum page this evening I found the following links in the Google ad space (only it read "ads by Gooooogle"---not sure if I've got the number of o's quite right):

<a href="http://www.songofthesouthdvdremastered.com/">Here</a> and <a href="http://www.classicvhs.com/songofthesout ... g">here</a>.

You'll notice the second link names <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coal_Black ... rfs">"Coal Black and de Sebben Dwarfs"</a> as the hidden bouns cartoon.

Thanks for the information. I've submitted the offending URLs to the list of addresses to be filtered out of the ads. But that usually takes a little while to take effect.

Whilst we're on the topic, is there any reason why you ditched the amazon ads and went back to Google?

Just trying to balance the two sources out and see what works better on the forum. It's not permanent; the Amazon banner will probably return to replace it soon.

Haha, I just love how this thread has become a Father Ted character discussion :D .

I'm still a bit confused by the "ads by Gooooooogle" bit. Why would they distort their own name? I mean, I wouldn't go out & buy tires from "Firestoooooooone"...

Google distorts the name on its own website, presumably to boast that their results are practically endless.

Ahh...sort of conflating the o's with the zeroes in a googolplex. I get it.

Looks dumb, though.

Yeah, I think it's just in part to grab your attention, which it apparently has.

Oh, and somebody really ought to take a Bishop Brennan avatar!

Okay...<a href="http://www.knoozles.com/song_of_the_south.php">here</a> is another SOTS offender, fresh from this morning's forum Google banner.

Somehow I find it less than comforting so many heavy hitters on the world wide web---Google, eBay, I'm talking about you---seem to have no problem with garnering income from folks with no respect for copyright law or theft of intellectual property.

Knoozles has been added to the filtered list. Wish some legitimate advertisers besides Jesse McCartney and Universal Studios would bid on some space instead of these bootleggers!

I notice the Google banner has been replaced by Amazon. Thank you! This morning I noticed Knoozles and classicsvhs were still showing up...and I've been feeling sorely tempted.
