The Twice Upon A Christmas looks...sort of like a Playstation game. The Three Musketeers looks...fantastic!

Firstly, great find! I think we've all been interested in these at least a little.

Secondly, I agree with your assessment. CGI Mickey and Pluto? Why call it "Twice Upon a Christmas" and do it completely different from the successful formula of the first one? That'd be like doing a Toy Story 3 in 2-d cel animation.

I also think that "Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas" would be much better on 2D since I really liked the original. About, the "The Three Musketeers" I think it could be a fun adaptation of the leyend featuring Mickey, Goofy and, who's never wrong but always right? Donald Duck.

Wow, surprisingly I really like the CG Mickey and Pluto. Can't wait to see Twice Upon a Christmas.

And Musketeers looks interesting as well.

With these two looking nice, and The Lion King 1.5 getting 2-disc treatment, maybe the DTVs of 2004 are going to be of better quality than those of 2003. We can all hope at least.

I agree. I loved the first Mickey's Once upon a Christmas the 3d looks horrible. Once again why ruin a perfectly fine movie with a horrible sequel?

the only ways i should see 3D mickey are:

mickey as a toy
or someone dressed up as mickey

that's about it...

i do not like 3D mickey at all.

Very strange. Just about everyone here likes Pixar's 3D animation, but I dislike it. And now everyone here dislikes Mickey in 3D but I like it.

I guess I'm just plain different.

I won't say that I don't like a 3D Mickey, I have nothing against computer animation at all. It's just THAT 3D Mickey looks pretty bad. Now, it may look better when the actual movie comes along, but who knows? Going by what I am seeing in that frame, it looks like cheap CG animation, which to me looks worse than cheap 2D animation. I hope it looks better when we get a trailer for this movie!

Now the Three Musketeers on the other hand looks very well done. I'll buy that without having seen it first!

"The Three Musketeers" - looks like it will be a fine film. I think this one should get a 2-disc set.
"Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas" - the original was a nice and charming little film, but the CGI on this one looks cheap. Well, I hated the CGI Mickey at the Academy Awards.

i think 3D mickey looks weird because 1) that picture of him just looks bad and 2) we are not used to seeing CGI 3D mickey. all of the pixar characters are new to us when we see them. mickey is such a familiar 2D character to us all that seeing him in a different medium looks rather odd.

When they made up that God-awful CGI Tinkerbell and found out how terrible it looks, they should have stopped there. Leave classic 2D characters where they belong--in cel animation.

I just don't understand why anyone would even bother producing something like this, even if it is a limited issue subsidiary to promote holiday spending...

If Disney really wanted to cash in on holiday merchadising, why not go back and release "A Walt Disney Christmas", "A Disney Christmas Gift" or "Jiminy Cricket's Christmas" to dvd? Those would be instant heavy sellers, especially if distributed in fixed restricted quantities so as to only be accessible throught the Nov-Jan. spending season.

I really wonder who disney thinks it's marketing these subpar releases to..?

They're in the same vein as Jiminy Cricket's Christmas in that they use new animation to bridge the short segments into one continual program to give the feel of an actual mini-feature, however much of the content is rehashed between the programs. I believe that both are just revisions of each other, produced to promote the videos around holiday season in the 80's with minimal changes.

I would suggest picking up "A Walt Disney Christmas" which was the original release of the 3 if you are going to buy another one. It features the shorts: "Once Upon A Wintertime", "Santa's Workshop", "The Night Before Christmas", "Pluto's Christmas Tree", "On Ice" and "Donal's Snow Fight".

"A Disney Christmas Gift" feature the exact same shorts, only fewer (3 of the above mentioned), along with one extra - "The Clock Watcher", which is the exclusive between the 2 cassettes. The one thing that "A Disney Christmas Gift" has over "A Walt Disney Christmas", is the addition of more newly produced animation segments and reel footage between shorts which would explain why there are lesser cartoons and the running time is actually 3 minutes longer.

If you're interested, I actually have an absolutely mint copy of "A Disney Christmas Gift" on VHS which I'd be willing to sell to you for about $20. Original slip-case cover is in perfect brand new condition, as is the cassette - no signs of it being an 18 year old release at all, it looks brand new. Let me know if you'd be interested and perhaps we can work something out.

Well, if you don't want to pay Stashone $20 for "A Disney Christmas Gift", you can do what I did:

Go to Giant Tiger and buy it for $4.88. Also buy Jiminy Cricket's Christmas, A Muppet Family Christmas, Mickey's Magical Christmas: Snowed in at the House of Mouse, Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas, and Recess Christmas: Miracle on 3rd Street.

I forgot to mention that I'm ECSTATIC about these two features! First, Three Musketeers looks incredible (hope it's along the lines of Prince and the Pauper) and I'm a sucker for anything Disney/Christmas, so...

Are they re-issues or something, because it was released in 1985 and has since been long out of print... I'm surprised that you found it for such a cheap price. Did it come in it's original first issue packaging and was it brand new?

Keep wishing. CGI is the new thing and its making studios a fortune. I personally like it a lot. I saw the trailer for Shrek 2 today, and it looks great, and extremely funny. "I am puss.....in boots"
