I know that the DMC used to list many recent films as being available on VHS, but I took a look at their site and they're not listed on VHS anymore. Are they not available or am I just blind?
Also, if they're not available if any of you have some of them and are willing to sell (not likely, but still) I'd be willing to buy some.
After reading the FAQ I've found out that VHS is still available with many titles, but you can only buy DVD when you sign up, and I'm not signed up. Can anyone with a membership tell me if the following titles are available on VHS? :
Herbie: Fully Loaded
Sky High
Chicken Little
Chronicles of Narnia
Greatest Game Ever Played
Glory Road
Eight Below

The following are available on VHS through the club:
Herbie: Fully Loaded $19.95
Sky High-widescreen $19.95 (Probably actually fullscreen)
Chicken Little $19.95
The following are not:
Chronicles of Narnia
The Greatest Game Ever Played
I know that Herbie and Chicken little are exclusively on VHS through the DMC, so that's the only way to get them. I think Narnia is avaiable on VHS in general stores.
Thanks for the update, guys. As of a month or so back, when you could still sign up with VHS or DVD, Narnia and Greatest Game were available, so it's a shame (to me, anyway) that they don't offer them anymore. Also, I'm pretty sure the last major live action Disney movie released on VHS outside DMC was Sky High, and the only place I've found that is at disneyvideos.com, and you have to order it by phone, so I've no clue as the price. If you have found Narnia on VHS and are willing to buy it for me, I'd pay top dollar for a copy.
I just received the new catalog yesterday and The Chronicles of Narnia is available in VHS as a DMC exclusive. I'm not sure if it's available on the website or not but it is available via the phone.
Thanks Gurgi, also could you tell me if they list Greatest Game Ever Played or Glory Road in the catalog and if so, are they also on DMC exclusive VHS?
I feel like UD needs to do an intervention here. You do realize you're wasting a heck of a lot of money on this and that videocassettes are eventually going to be phased out altogether, right? I mean, I could understand tracking down VHS titles released in the '80s and '90s, but these are things that will never go up in value, never be in demand, and won't even provide you with a proper viewing format. Plus they require a lot more cost and effort than DVD. Is it really worth it?
I find it is, yes. Please don't give me an intervention, I know what I'm doing. I'm not doing it to sell them in a few years, I'm doing it because I just like watching VHS over DVD, it's just an odd pleasure for me.

You do realize that every time a VHS is watched, the quality gets a little bit lesser than it should, because the tape is constantly being played and read over and over again. With DVD (and before it laserdisc), the fact that it's protected by a layer of plastic allows its data to be read without having it degrade with every viewing. It's not being exposed to the laser directly, allowing it to keep its excellent quality.
Watching a VHS may be a comfort, a nostalgic piece of the past, but ultimately, is unnecessary for titles already on DVD.

I haven't gotten the newest catalog yet, but I just checked the website for you, JM:
Glory Road- no
Eight Below- no
Greatest Game Ever Played- no
The Shaggy Dog (2006)- there is a vhs, but it has no information about which version it is. There's no cover art or description, so I don't know if it is the 2006 version or not.
The Wild- I don't see this in the club at all, not even a dvd copy.
