Nightmare Before Christmas gets it's own celeb. soundtrack!

Post by TashieGirl »

From IMDb:

Fall Out Boy and Marilyn Manson are among the stars paying tribute to Tim Burton's classic Halloween movie The Nightmare Before Christmas on a new soundtrack album. The acts have recorded covers of the composer Danny Elfman's macabre tunes for the release of the 3-D version of the animated movie this autumn. The film was first released in 1993 and has become a cult hit, spawning merchandise and memorabilia.

So, what do you guys think?

Is this being released by Disney??? I can't imagine them signing Marilyn Manson on for anything.

Yeah I wondered that too. I personally don't like his music but plenty of my friends love it...go figure  . Anyhoo, I'm not actually sure if it being relased by Disney cause the article didn't really say much but if it is, I guess his version of whatever song he's doing won't be much like his other songs minding young audiences.

I think that is really cool that Marilyn Manson is going to record or compose. He's creepy, but he has a lot of talent. He did a great job on the score to Resident Evil.

I'm angry they have Fallout Boy on the album. I hate them. :x Don't make the movie teenie bopper!

I don't like his music, but I hear that he's a very intelligent guy and that most of the rumors about him are false.

Well maybe, but I saw a picture of him with the guy who runs the First Church of Satan.

Pretty darn gross if you ask me.

Call me Senile, but having a soundtrack where Emo bands like Fall out Boy and Goths like Marilyn Manson sing your favorite songs from the movie just is trying to make it appeal to the people who go to hot topic (where nightmare is already a hit) Another problem is with an emo soundtrack, this movie will be more dead then Halloweentown. And hearing bands like Panic! At The Disco cover "This is Halloween." will just be nausiating(sp) Marilyn would be cool to hear, but other then that, as soon as Good Charlotte sign on, I'll go mad.
No pain could be deeper

LaVey who's the creator of Church of Satan deemed Marilyn Manson Reverend some years ago.

I'm not going to come with a long essay on my opinion of Marilyn Manson and the ever-excisting rumours that surround him. But please, if there's something people should have learned by now it's not to judge a book by its cover. He may look "slightly" different than the average human, but he gets attention because of it right? And IMO, he uses it well. Those who've seen Bowling for Columbine knows where he stands on that matter.

Back on the subject! This actually sounds really really cool. I can already hear an up-beat version of "Kidnap The Sandy Claws" ;D There should be some really cool cover-versions on the CD.

Actually, on second thought, I'm thinking this (or anything, for that matter) will at least be a lot better than if Disney Channel Circle of Stars did a soundtrack. Now THAT's a Nightmare!

When will this Soundtrack Be Released?

Post by disneyboy20022 »

Does anyone know when this soundtrack is supposed to be release and how much it will cost or where you can pre-order it. I am a fan of the NBC movie. I know perhaps this site might supply some info on it. I am going to go check it out right now so off I go. And even if it does not have info on this CD I am sure it will soon. By the way does any one know when they will announce what theatres will be showing The NBC in 3-D

well look at it this way, at least the company is babying this one up with a Nightmare Before Christmas: Jack-o-Lantern edition, or some other gross made title.

i think this is a great idea, think of the money they'll make off the emo kids and all the attention they'll get from the alternative audience. genious!

Here's a little more info from Animated-news.com

Nightmare to receive 2-disc sountrack this October
In conjunction with the October 20th re-release of The Nightmare Before Christmas, a 2-disc sountrack for the film will enter stores on October 24th. While the first disc of the set offers Danny Elfman's music directly from Nightmare, the second disc will present covers of movie's popular songs. Artists in the lineup include: Fall Out Boy ("What's This?"), Panic! at the Disco ("This Is Halloween"), Marilyn Manson ("This Is Halloween"), Fiona Apple ("Sally's Song") and She Wants Revenge ("Oogie Boogie's Song"). In addition, two demo versions of "Making Christmas" and "Oogie Boogie's Song" have made the cut for the second disc. MTV Asia has more on this release.

I'll be picking it up for sure.

Oh my god! Panic at the Disco! is doing "This Is Halloween"? That just makes me so sick. I can't think of any worst band in today's popular music than them. Okay, maybe I exaggerating but they still suck in my opinion. About the other releases, I'm not a big Fall Out Boy fan but I can't imagine them singing "What's This?" but I guess I have to listen to it to see if I like it or not. And even though I stated before that I wasn't a huge Marilyn Manson fan, I have a feeling that his version of "This is Halloween" is going to be very good. I like Fiona Apple alot so I don't have to think twice to say that her version of "Sally Song" is going to be very good as well. I don't listen to She Wants Revenge but I hope to god that their version of "Oogie Boogie's Song" better be well done considering that it's my other favorite song from NBC (This is Halloween is the other one).

Don't get me wrong, I am a big Burton fan, especially with the Trifecta: TB directing, Danny Elfman on Music, and Johnny Depp starring...

However, it just seems like the emo/goth crowd likes this movie waaay out of proportion...

It's funny, they all consider themselves completely unique individuals, but they wear the same clothes, listen to the same music, and so on...

"Hi, welcome to Emo-World... We'll show you the secret handshake in a bit... Here is your Myspace account, and a Nightmare Before Christmas DVD to get you started.

Ok, let's see:
Clothes - Black, Leather, Lace, chrome studs... Check
Piercings - Eyebrow, Lip, ears (several,) unmentionables... Check.
Music - You say you like everything on this list, good, you'll fit right in."

He met L. Ron Hubbard??

Anyways, this news is a big meh for me. I somewhat fancy Fall Out Boy and Panic! At the Disco, but can't see either of them doing NBC. And Marilyn Manson is always a gigantic meh.

Sorta... Cheers?

Me neither. Don't get me wrong I have nothing against Hot Topic, I get all my shirts from there. But it's all stuff that I was into before I even discovered Hot Topic (Nightmare Before Christmas, Invader ZIM, SpongeBob, the Muppets, etc.) Corpse Bride is one of the few examples of something I got into after I discovered Hot Topic lol. But actually in the Hot Topics around me the people are more nice and more normal than other people that work in the mall

Anyway, about the soundtrack: I'll be skipping it. I don't listen to any of those bands and some of them I've never even heard of. As long as they don't replace the songs in the actual movie I don't really care either way.

Oh and a new 2-disc edition of the movie could be really cool ^_^
But the thing that makes Woody special, is he'll never give up on you... ever. He'll be there for you, no matter what.
