One of the best sitcoms ever coming to DVD in February!

Post by Luke »

NewsRadio: The Complete First & Second Seasons
Release Date: February 3, 2004
Studio: Columbia/TriStar

There are 28 episodes, so I'm not sure how many discs there will be, as Columbia really likes to pack them on. SRP is $39.99. Word is there's just 3 discs - so it's the typical Columbia cramping.

With a 30% discount, it's just $27.97 shipped from Amazon.com. :pink:

If you haven't seen this sitcom, I highly recommend it! :thumb: It stars an awesome ensemble cast - Dave Foley (voice of Flik), Maura Tierney, Andy Dick, Joe Rogan (Fear Factor host), Stephen Root (voice of Bubbles from Finding Nemo, and Milton from Office Space), Vicki Lewis (voice of Flo + Deb from FN), and comedic genius Phil Hartman.

While it would have been nice to have this out by Christmas, at least it will make for nice snowy viewing in February, I guess. :D

I think this will bump me down to about 10 shows that I absolutely wish were on DVD (in season sets) that aren't yet. Which is still a bunch, so I wish Disney would get with the program, and also that Paramount would release "Pete & Pete" and Fox "The Wonder Years." I'm just glad most of the shows I really like aren't too obscure. :)

(Edited to correct # of episodes and # of discs.)

Good news...and wouldn't it be something to see Seinfeld later in the year?

I was just thinking the same thing reading this...
NewsRadio was great. I really enjoyed it. Phil hartman alone would be wortht he price of the discs, but I think the whole cast (as mentioned) was great. I don't ever remember watching an episode where I didn't at least get a good chuckle out of...
I think that is another one for the Amazon basket...

Newsradio was, indeed, one of the best sitcoms. I thought it was at its best during the third and fourth years, but I haven't seen a lot of the earlier episodes, so...probably, I'll end up getting them. It's one of the shows I've been waiting for them to release. :)

Some of my favorite moments: the Rocket Fuel Malt Liquor bit, the suggestion box episode, Matthew having a "twin" brother. There are too many to remember!

My favorite moment, though, went something like this...after Beth gives Dave a paper to sign, and Dave smiles and says...

"I didn't just sign for a stolen jeep there, did I, Radar?"

And then Beth gives him a look of disdain and replies, "I don't watch Star Trek, Dave."

Now if only they would release Northern Exposure on DVD next...

After Phil was murdered, the show went seriously downhill, as can be expected.

But there were so many great episodes before that - "Smatthew."

This is delayed, according to TVShowsonDVD.com. I'm so pissed - there's an unusually high volume of great DVDs coming out in January and February, but this was my most-anticipated. Boo! :(

Sad news to hear (although I didnt plan on buying it anyways)
Next year seems to be the best ever for TV on DVD.
There are at least 10 TV DVDs I plan on buying throughout next year.

but my most wanted are....
Jan 6 -- Cheers - Season 2 and Frasier - Season 2
and Boy Meets World - Season 1 in June.
After many short films, she's finally getting her own....
MINNIE MOVIE

After finding that there's something there, he found something more....

Its probably just going to be delayed to another date when less shows are being released.
February 3rd has like 20 TV DVDs coming out.

Odd, NewsRadio is the only one I knew (and cared) about. However, there are a bunch of movies coming out that day too that interest me - Planet of the Apes 35th Anniversary (+ 1), Rain Man Special Edition, Lost in Translation. I can fill the void, but I so need my NewsRadio fixing. I haven't seen the show since A & E pulled it over a year ago, I believe it was.
