As you state yourself Kim Olav, this issue is totaly diffrent in USA and Norway.
America have had African Americans for several hundred years. The problem over there is the "old fashion" thinking that a black american is not the same as a white american. When the slaves were free they did not have anything to suport them with. They were poore, and the white americans exploited them so they ended up as low paid and with to little money. Because of this Black americans grew up in neighborhoods that was bad for them, and this is not something you could change over night. I belive that America needs more then 100 years more to see a comunity that does not favour white before black, and just sees them as equal.
In Norway we where only ourselvs untill the late 60's when we needed work labour. Then we opened our borders for people from Pakistan that came to work in those jobs that we did not want ourselvs. Then after some years we stopped taking work imigrants, but continued to accept refugies into our country. Our biggest problem is that since we always have been a naive people we never got to educate those that want to stay here as good as we should. We did not help them with their war problems as well, since this is not something that their mind will let go of that easily.
We are begining to get some of the problems like America because there are too many people that will not accept the new Norwegians as wprthy Norwegians.
The problems that we do have with crime now is not related to blacks, or any other rase. It is the result of a badly planed education program for our new citizens.
I do not like it when you say that blacks (not all, but it sounds like you think that a lot) don't work, and just collect money from the goverment. There majority of the "new" citizens are working like everybody else, and a few of them are runing around and killing people. The troble is that you only notice it when a murderer is black, if he is white you do not think of it.
If you go thru all the murders last year you will find that almost all of them was done by "good Norwegians"
There was less crime in Norway before the cell phone, but that does not make the cell phones the reason for all the murders.
I know this is a little far off, but I hope that you see what I are trying to say.

Well, first of all, this is my opinion about this issue on Dumbo. My opinion has been formed over the years after watching this film, analyzing it and use it in my work as a film teacher.
Oh, and NO, I have not read any of the opinions yet, so they don't affect my posting.
Well, to understand DUMBO, you have to watch it w/ the eyes of the time when it was released. At the time, political correctness did not exist. Now it does.
THE HAPPY HEARTED ROUSTABOUTS is a very complicated scene. And to me, very intense and makes me think a lot...
The ROUSTABOUTS are all black males. They have no face: they are impersonated. They share their chores w/ the beasts and strongest animales, at night, in the dark.
That makes me think A LOT.
Also, if you read the lyrics, or hear them...
We don't know when we get paid,
but when we're paid we through our pay away
or...
We work all day
we work all night
we never learnt to read or write
we're happy hearted roustabouts.
This sequence, specially that they are not humanized -since we dont' have the chance to see their faces- is very strong NOWADAYS. Of course Disney didn't mean to make anyone upset.
What bothers me is that TODAY Disney censors clips on videos where one character is smoking -like in SALUDOS AMIGOS-, and tries to justify mistakes from the past, but not in the case of Dumbo.
I think that before any of these videos or DVDS, someone, Like Leonard Maltin in some cartoons in the Treasures, should explain: WHATCH IT UNDERSTANDING THE CIRCUMSTANCES WHEN IT WAS MADE.
And don't chop off scenes or videos like SONG OF THE SOUTH. Explain, but not censor.
