Request a Review

Post by TheSequelOfDisney »

Can we request reviews, or not? I noticed that some movies didn't have reviews, and I was kinda wondering why.

It's probably because the task of running/contributing to the site, writing reviews for new DVD releases, and having a life outside of UD keeps our reviewers from going back to past DVDs and critic....uh.....ing them. Requesting reviews would be fun, though. A The Tigger Movie review would rock my sox.

I don't really feel comfortable asking for more stuff, though. I mean, they make new banners whenever we request one, plus they already post press releases and the reviews that we have now, so asking for more stuff makes me feel kinda..... greedy.

I think it would be cool to request DVD reviews, but not just from frequent Users and Administrators, from who-ever owns the DVD.
An average review is better than no review, right?
I'd be willing to submit reviews of my own Disney DVD's, if we could request reviews from other UD members on DVD's that they own.
I wanted to buy an official copy of Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas, off Ebay, and I came on here to read a review for it, as the reviews here are always spot-on and re-assuring, but there wasn't one here.
I think the idea of requesting reviews is ok, just as long as there isn't an overwhelming response of reviews, then we'd sound greedy.

I think it's probably not a good idea to put up new reviews of out-of-print titles like "The Tigger Movie" and "Enchanted Christmas" as it would only serve to provoke readers that they missed out. I'm sure that the next time these titles are reissued, they will get proper reviews on this website. We have to be appreciative of what the website does offer.

"The Tigger Movie" isn't out of print, though UD has covered OOP DVDs in a new review (a recent one I can think of is Silly Symphonies and I think Complete Goofy).

I had four in-print, unreviewed DVDs I had hoped to cover this summer: <i>That Darn Cat</i> (1997), <i>The Big Green</i>, <i>The Kid</i>, and <i>The Tigger Movie</i> (in addition to catching up on <i>Spin & Marty</i>, the tardy Growing Up with Winnie the Pooh volume, and the nearly-pointless 2005 Year in Review article).

Clearly, none of those happened and there's not always a lot to show for just why. Honestly, if I could find more time and get back into a reviewing groove, I'd be happy to take requests, but now through the end of the year is not looking so good, as the number of releases gets amplified. There isn't a day that goes by where I don't spend less than 8 hours working on things for this site, though. So hopefully, at some point, openings should arise, the way one did for <i>A Musical History of Disneyland</i> to get completed.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.
