I'm going to post a semi-unrelated question in this thread: if you have an old recorded tape that is really messed up and almost unwatchable, if you convert it to a DVD will the picture be fixed? I think I already know the answer but I'd still like to know for sure. I'll be a while before I get a DVD recorder anyway.

No, it will record the tape to disc just as it is. Sadly flaws and all.

Not with the Enhancer. I finally got down there after calling and picked it up, and let me tell you, this thing is a godsend. It will tape anything and everything to DVD and in the case of VHS you can enhance the picture, make it lighter, darker, or sharper, whatever the case. Again, this thing is a gift from God, and I would like to thank Bill so much for pointing this out to me. I have been playing with it nonstop since 8:30 last night. :D :D :D

I'ma so happy,

Thanks for the info. But like I said, it'll be a long while before I get a DVD recorder and even longer before I get that enhancer. Sounds great though.

This week Best Buy has the same DVD Recorder that I own, the Insignia, on sale for $179, and the enhancer for $80. Regularly priced the recorder would be $239 and the enhancer $130. So look at the savings. Instead of buying or renting DVD's for the next couple of weeks, save your money at the get the recorder. Go put it on layaway now to get the sale price, and then pick it up in a couple of weeks. You will not regret the sacrifices you make to get this. I promise.

After four years of some seriously solid copying at home, my video enhancer for my DVD Recorder stopped working today. :(

I got online to look for a replacement and have been having a helluva time. I guess the Sima company backed out of the business and doesn't manufacture these anymore, and the model I have (the Sima GoDVD! Video Enhancer C-200) currently sells for close to $200, which is a little nuts for a piece of technology that's nearly seven years old. I read about this new enhancer called the CopiAll DPX-7000, which is supposedly the replacent of Sima and does all the functions that the old enhancer had, plus more. Is this a reliable product? Does anyone have any information for me? I would greatly appreciate it.

P.S. I've retitled the thread and given it an update to get more usage out of it. :)

That sounds amazing! I have tons of stuff I had taped onto VHS that I would LOVE to record onto DVD while enhancing the quality! Please keep this thread updated as I am curious. My DVD Recorder doesn't record anymore (it gives me an error message and I've been told by people I've asked that I'll need a DVD lens cleaner) but as soon as I get that fixed I'll definitely be looking into this so any update helps!
