What project should Disney do next?

Possibly for Disney and Square Enix (for those who've played Kingdom Hearts, you should know) to make a anime series out of KH *with* Disney animation style, as well as Japanese too. Who knows, it possibly be a huge success and think of $$$$ they can make out of it.

Sounds alright, but wouldn't it be weird if it was a movie, based on a game, based on movies Cool idea though, i like the idea of loads of characters in one movie.

First of all, the content is too mature...

Well Jak and Daxter wasn't that dark. I mean it was kinda violent(isn't every video game though ) but I'm sure if Disney made a movie they could easily make it a PG movie(after seeing Lilo and Stitch, it seems hard to believe any movie can get a G these days ). However I do agree that the sequels were rather mature! Not only did it get more violent and the villians became more threatning, the stories were more complex, and Daxter often put alot of sexual content into the game! But I'm sure if they tried, they could possibly get PGs for the sequels as well. If not, well that's what Touchstone is for, isn't it?

and second, Disney would have to buy the rights, which Sony is not lanning on doing. There is no way they are going to give up licensing on one of their most esteemed franchises. Usually, when Disney secures the rights from a modern book, they pay a good half a million dollars. When they adapt from a fairy tale, then it's free, becuase most originated before 1900, and all material before that time is not protected by copywright. If Disney wanted to acquire Jak and Daxter, I'm assuming they would pay somewhere in the million of dollars.

Yeah Jak and Daxter wold probably come pricy, but if Sony did ever want a make a Jak and Daxter movie, which probably is unlikely, I don't see why they can't go to Disney. Maybe some people will look at the Disney logo and say it's too "kiddy", but true fans of the games will see this movie no matter what, and I'm sure there will probably be quite an amount parents taking their kids to see it whether they are familiar to the games or not.

Prince Eric did bring up something. If Disney adapted from video games, I think both Sly Cooper and Ratchet and Clank would make great movies! Sly Cooper is screaming for his own movie, and I can see Ratchet and Clank leading along the lines of the Incredibles/Chicken Little.

Actually I came up with the idea! Prince Eric simply quoted me! Sorry but when I think of a brilliant idea like this(which almost never happens) I want to take the credit for it!

As for your ideas, I never played Sly Cooper, but I have played Ratchet and Clank! While the stories aren't as imaginative as Jak and Daxter, nor are the characters as loveable, I'm sure it could make a decent movie if they had the chance to make it!

It's quality not quantity that makes a movie nice. Sure we would like it to keeps us entertained for 3 hours but if its nothing but "yack, yack, yack" it's not worth watching.

Filming began in Tahlequah, Oklahoma in the fall of 1999, independently-financed and free of studio attachments. By November, once shooting was near completion, Red Fern's modest budget was non-existent, hundreds of thousands of dollars were owed, and the Screen Actors Guild ordered its unpaid cast to walk away. The remainder of filming took place in the summer of 2002, with a new director and production company. All finished but still plagued by financial and legal troubles, this independent film managed to make only a few festival screenings to strong response. Having been picked up by Disney for home video distribution, only now does it get a chance to be widely seen.

Some may assume this new version of Where the Red Fern Grows is simply a Disney film, and the marriage between the studio's live action ideals and this worthwhile adaptation of literature seems very appropriate. Others may simply not care about the film's storied independent production. Regardless of it all, this final product is worthy of praise. It is good to know that it should reach a wide audience on Disney DVD.

I realize that the reason the movies are not as critically acclaimed recently as Pixar is because the stories are dull. So I am wondering if anybody could come up with good stories to adapt to film.

I'd like to see them do something Shakespearean, except without the Elizabethan Language........little kids wouldn't understand that.
The thing is I don't really know too many fairy tales Disney hasn't done, because Disney practically creates these fairy tales and brings them to life, before disney made The Little Mermaid, or Beauty and the Beast, I doubt very many people would've known what those Stories were even about.
When you think of The Little Mermaid, you think of Ariel, when you think of Aladdin, you think of Disney's Aladdin.
I was speaking to my friend the other day about Disney films and he thought Disney created all their stories, I told him about the actual endings to The Little Mermaid and Pocahontas, and he was suprised to find out these stories have been around for centuries.
I don't know what other fairy tales there are...because Disney hasn't done them yet!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that its long overdue that Disney should do an Egyptian centered film. (maybe Cleopatra??) But then again, Disney would definately have to somehow change the ending...(again, following in the footsteps of TLM...) What do you guys think?

Tom Sawyer already got Disneyfied (a live action film which I highly recommend) but I wouldn't mind seeing Huck Finn enter animation, there's actualy some good moments that has that Disney recipe for a classical moment and they could lighten up the story too.

My choices:

Dr. Jekyle/Mr. Hyde (could be a PG-13 2d animated horror)

Little Women (live action musical that follows the book and not broadway)


Sherlock Holmes (Faithful animated film that sticks to the book and doesn't try to ease up on the story 90%)

Thoses are some ideas that were running thru my brain.

Disney's needs variety again...the sheer joy of their current features is the difference between them all...from rescuers to aladdin to lady and the tramp...some are epic in scope and some are simply charming...they need
that balance again...an epic one and a charming one....

Im glad someone mentioned Huck Finn, cause i believe the whole old time look and southern landscape would translate to a beautiful "charming" disney film.... It could even possibly be like "Robin Hood" with animal's
portraying the characters... that is very old disney style.

And about the "Cleopatra"...disney was at one point going to
make "AIDA" from thier broadway play, but for some reason opted against it.

I think that sort of falls w/ The Great Mouse Detective. He lived in the same building as him & acted just like him and also used his dog Toby to help him on the case.

I knew bout G.M.Dect. but I was more realistic verison that would do justice to the Holmes' legends. Who's Chanticleer & Reynard? cause I've never heard of 'em, who's the author? Dr.Jekyle/Mr.Hyde would be the ultimate bookend for all of Disney's fairytales, the plot's real spine-chilling, we have a vitcor/victim, create some mild-lighthearted characters, mix a few proper motive for Mr.Hyde and you have a classic 30's/50's Disney movie plot.

I wanted to say they should go back to doing fairy tails, but the only one that comes to mind would be rapunzel. and that's being worked on so I'm kind of out of ideas.
I think they should just work on something refreshing.

or another animal based movie would be good. I enjoyed brother bear more than most people and would like to see more of that.

As long as it is something well-done, animated or non-animated and NOT a direct-to-video release I would be happy. And for heaven's sake, NO MORE remakes of Disney classic films, so far they are batting a big fat zero in the remake categories.

I'm only saying that because Robert Louis Stevenson is like my Great, Great, Great, Great Grandfather though.....I'm not sure if thats right...theres alot of 'Greats' though
