Chronological Donald - How Many Volumes?

Post by JamesDFarrow »

There is Volume 1 and 2 out.

Does anyone know how many more volumes there are to come?

Thanks,

James :)

James,

There is almost exactly the same number of Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck shorts(I believe Donald has one more). Thus, there will be two more volumes.

Thanks!

At Wikipedia they have 82 Donald Duck cartoons listed but I am not sure if that is right or not. But if it is then 2 more volumes sounds right.

Actually No Sail and Crazy from the Heat are the only two with Donald and Goofy title cards.

I think the next Chronological Donald Volume will have cartoons from 1947 to 1951. Then the later will have the last ones, but I don't know if stuff like "Donald in Mathmagic Land" or "Donald and the Wheel" will be there. We have a chance, because MMiLCV2 had these...but in Donald's case there are more shorts. So... :?

We will see them eventually but not on the next disc they are from 59 and 61 respectively. Both are theatrical shorts(sometimes thought to be educational but they are not classified so). Both will be quite late in Volume 4.(They are the third and second to last Donald shorts respectively).

All are considered Donald Duck cartoons - I know they heavily feature Goofy but when the documentors of the shorts talk about the Cartoons, they are classified by the title card. The title card said they were a Donald Duck cartoon for all three of those.

In the Chronological Donald Volume 1 they appear with the Donald & Goofy title card.

Okay - this is where it gets complicted. Some title cards were replaced after their original runs. It is only the original title card that counts. Most credible documentations I have seen only count 2 Donald and Goofy title cards. And go check and make sure on the other three to make sure you are right.

One more question.

Do these only come in the collector tin edition?

James - the first seven were repackaged at Costco as a boxed set without tins, but for the most part the answer is no.

Thanks!

I don't really care about the tin. Just want the DVDs before they go out of print.

Anyway, I just ordered both volumes from Amazon.ca

As for the "Donald and Goofy" titles - they are already being included in the DD volumes, aren't they? And none of them were included in the Goofy set. Because of these and a few early DD shorts that were originally released with MM title cards I prefer to keep the "character shorts" listed together in my system, not separately.

Based on what has been included in the two first DD volumes and what's left I'm pretty sure there will be two more.

You are right. Based on what was on the Goofy Treasure, they must have had about 38 seconds of spare space left on that(certainly the most agressive Treasure for content).

Thus, they went on the Donald ones, where they really did not matter. With or without them Donald will need to be four tins.

That could be just the reasonable explanation why the "Complete Pluto" was split into two volumes. They probably ran one minute longer than the Goofy shorts...

Lars - same number of cartoons. The Pluto set had some double dipping with some formative Pluto from Mickey Mouse cartoons and better extras.

They may have done it that way though because they just could not do it in 1 set and the amount of material was too skimpy for 2 Treasures.
